From here on out Therien better start going for the extra point in the overtime. To heck with the thought that if it's an eastern conference foe take what comes to you. As a team we are 1-8-2 in overtime this season. So in effect we have received 1 out of a possible 11 free points and that won't help when we get to April. How many overtimes this season has MT started Juneau and Dackell; granted we can't send out Lafleur. Last night I watched Carolina play 3 forwards the entire overtime against Buffalo and they carried most of the play and had by far the best chaces (Francis missed a wide open net). Buffalo did have some good chances but I think the risk is well worth it. Again 1-8-2 is the same as 1-0-10 and I would much rather be 3-4-4 (we would have 2 more points and two teams would have 1 so in the end we would be ahead of where we are now). Anyways just another reason for me to dislike Therien, tonight's game is about to start gotta run.

We have one overtime strategy:defend.Juneau and Dackell for half the OT period. It's sickening.Who cares if you give up the goal,YOU GET THE POINT ANYWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!
Go with firepower,Berezin,Zednik,Ribeiro,Gilmour,Petrov,Bulis,Markov...guys who would explode in 4-4.
You can just make a whole book full of incredible Therrien mistakes.

Look,at tonight's game as the perfect example of what you are talking about.Did we even try to attack in OT?
NEVER,would a d-man on our team,be allowed,in OT,to attack like O'Donnell did.Never.That is why we have 1 OT win this year.
At least we got the point...

I agree. That was brutal. We didn't even have an offensive rush. Great comeback but Therien has got to go. He has no idea what's happening around him.

How you can blame this OT loss on anything other than Perreault's mistake in covering O'Donnell is beyond me. Got news for ya.. Yanic was on the ice when they scored, not Juneau and Dackell!
There's 5 (potential) minutes of overtime boys, plenty of time to play several lines. Juneau and Dackell can be just as effective offensively as defensively in these cirsumctances. Joe Juneau, after all, still holds the NHL record for most assists by a left wing, you know. He may be forced into a defensive role now, but to thing he doesn't know his way to the net is just plain wrong.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the strategy of going all out for that extra point in OT, but just because Juneau and Dackell are on the ice doesn't mean we're in defensive mode. You would have seen the other lines out there is Yanic hadn't let O'Donnell get by him. These things happen though, atleast we got out with a point.
As I sidenote, I completely agree with the idea of 3 forwards and one defenseman in going for that extra point.

Actually, the only reason why O'Donnel saw that huge seem open was Stumpel tripping Markov down. But the point is not what Perreault did,it's why we never see a Habs d-man going for it like that in OT? As for Juneau and Dackell, sure give them a shift or two,but not 3 minutes of the OT period trying to shut down the top guns on the other team!
