Or Jose Theodore He was the only reason this game was close. We were just lucky to get a point.I said it before the game,if we can get a point,I would be happy. We did,but I am not happy. We were baddly outplayed and it took a bad penalty by the Bruins bench and a miracle deflection by Gilmour to get that point. NJ was winning or won tonight 3-1.The Isles won over the Rangers 6-3,the Pens were losing something like 6-4 over SJ.

I was at church, so I only saw the third period. Needless to say I was thrilled we got a point out of the game. The OT loss really doesn't effect the Habs, we're not exactly chasing down the Bruins. In fact it's sort of a good thing, keeps them up on top of the Leafs ;D
Anyways, good comeback, Gilmour's a God, I'm going to bed, and all is well in Habsland at the All-Star break.
GO HABS GO!!!!

Yes,the OT loss doesn't affect us,but a OT win would have been huge.I wish we would try to score in OT for once and not just try to defend. As for the Bruins-Leafs race...anything that can keep the Leafs away from 1st place is good ;D As for Dougie, amazing how he has gone from looking terrible to great in about 6 weeks!

Gilmour has a ton of pride, and I think we all believe him now when he said he wasn't playing like he wanted to. The old guy just needed to get his legs going.
It's obvious now that he's clicking, an dhe's looking like a steal for us right now. There's a lot of teams that could use him on a top line right now, I'm glad Savard trusted Dougie enough to give him a shot. If someone like Gilmour says he can contribute under the scrutiny of the Montreal media, we really should never have doubted him.

Living in Boston, I only get to see the Habs-Bruins games, but I was impressed with the way they played in the 3rd period. Lots of jump, good pressure in the offensive zone, the overall team speed was evident and Berezin really flies out there. Petrov's goal was a nice piece of work (he's a very similar player to Samsonov), and Doug Gilmour is quietly becoming one of the top point producers on the team.
Overall, I think there are sufficient grounds for optimism. Jose Theodore is now delivering consistent, high quality goaltending, and despite the lack of a true gamebreaking offensive talent, this is the best crop of forwards we've had in the last five years, and we're missing Koivu and Audette.
What we truly need right now is some size upfront. Signing Bobby Holik would be HUGE for us. I would seriously overpay to get him. There was a time when I thought we needed a consistent 90-100 point guy to put us over the top, but I'm willing to go with quantity over quality right now. We have that. What we don't have is size, particularly up the middle, and Holik fits the bill perfectly.

The difference between Petrov and Samsonov is the shot.Sammy has a terrific shot,Petrov can only score from in close(alot like me )...Petrov can't even dream of shooting a puck as quickly a Samsonov did on the second Bruins goal. As for Holik,he would be a great pickup. He would be the huge center we need.Although,if Guerin is interested in wearing the bleu-blanc-rouge,go after him too.
