Goaltenders are a lot like NFL quarterbacks. There are only a few great ones and a surplus of average to good net-minders. That's part of the reason the Canadiens are regreting signing Jeff Hackett to a big long term contract for 3 million a year. Many teams have found their starters in the mid to latter part of the NHL draft, and other, like Pittsburgh in a trade for Jeff Norton(Johan Hedberg). I do believe Jose Theodore is one of the future greats and should be paid as such with his next contract.

I agree totaly Haburger. Theo has proven himself as a starter and will only get better. Hackett is a solid goalie but will be underused untill he is moved. With any luck a playoff team with some question marks in net will take a flyer on Hackett. San Jose has a glut of good young goalies, but might be interested in Hack as insurance due to the youth and inexperience of Nabakov and Kiprusoff. The same could be said of Philly with Boucher and Chechmanek. Cloutier has been a revelation in Vancouver, but Hackett is by far superior to Skudra. Unfortunatley I don't believe Hacketts value is as high on the trade market as it should be. Cheers.
