www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/shownews.jsp?content=h100331AMONTREAL (CP) - Frank Mahovlich has become the latest old-time NHL star to put his hockey memorabilia up for auction. Classic Collectibles, which has auctioned off jerseys, trophies and other baubles for greats like Maurice (Rocket) Richard and Jean Beliveau, announced Monday that a collection is on the block from Mahovlich, who starred for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens from 1956 to 1974. Mahovlich, 67, known as The Big M in his playing days, is now in the Canadian senate. His 1961-62 Leafs and 1972-73 Canadiens Stanley Cup trophies have already drawn bids of $3,000 US each and a 1960s game-worn wool jersey drew $13,310, Classic Collectibles' Marc Juteau said in a statement. Other items include Mahovlich's red uniform from the 1972 Canada-Soviet series (bid: $4,026) and his 1981 Hockey Hall of Fame ring ($1,815). Also on auction are Ted Kennedy's 1948 Leafs Stanley Cup trophy, Andre Pronovost's 1959 Canadiens Cup ring, a 1930s game worn jersey from Larry Aurie of the Red Wings, as well as items from Beliveau, Lafleur, Bobby Hull and Patrick Roy. Bidders have two weeks to make offers for the items on classicauctions.net. An auction of Beliveau's memorabilia in February raised about $800,000 US.
