CANADIENS TO CONSIDER MAKING MOVES?
ESPN.COM: E.J. Hradek reports Montreal Canadiens GM Bob Gainey and his top scout Pierre Gauthier were checking out the recent Anaheim Mighty Ducks-NY Rangers game, leading to speculation Gainey may consider making "a minor move" to shake up his roster if they continue to struggle as they have over their last three games.
Spector's Note: My thanks to Dave Caldwell. It's believed some veteran Habs are skating on thin ice with Gainey, and there've been rumours he's in the market for a blueliner. Gauthier used to be the Ducks GM so he knows the Anaheim players well, and it's believed the Ducks want to move a defenceman, possibly Vitaly Vishnevski or Todd Simpson, whom Hradek considers the prime candidates to be dealt.

Let's speculate!
Who could it be? I doubt it's from the Rangers. My guess from the Ducks for a big forward would be, Mike Leclerc, but I wouldn't mind Smirnov.
As far as d-men go I do like the speculation of getting Vishnevski. He's still young and I think will be a bit like Kasparitis.

Leclerc could turn out good
Todd Simpson? gives us a lot more toughness, he's basically Quintal but meaner

RDS was reporting Gautheir has been spending some time in New York, was at the Rangers vs Avs game. Something may be in the works between Rangers and the Habs, but nobody on the Rangers really fits our needs.
Carter is nearly 30, so I would only consider him to be a quick fix without helping the team in the long run. The only young player they seem to have is Lundmark, but he is about Higgins size, not exactly the big young C we need.

Or he was scouting the Avs, not the Rangers

You shouldn't make a trade based on scouting only one game.

Another one from Spector's.
My thanks to "John" for the following on Jaromir Jagr: "Sportsnet was showing the Montreal - Edmonton game this evening and they mentioned that Montreal is interested in Jagr. Gainey is offering Koivu and Brisebois. I don't believe it but it makes for interesting chat board talk."
I doubt it!!

I doubt it!! Oh mon dieu!!!!!! Well Jagr sure can put the puck in the net when motivated but he's become an uncoachable headach over the years. He could be had for a much cheaper price than Koivu/Breezer IMO.
