throw in Danny Markov/Cole/Vrbata/Vasicek and we can start talking in general. but, I'm reluctant to trade either goalie before next season unless an opportunity we can't pass comes. I'm not sold on Garon as a no.1 goalie yet (too few games played) and Theo's value isn't high enough after last season to maximize the return. the trick with any trade involving Theo (or Garon) will be measured not by how a player we get in return does, but how the remaining goalie performs.
so, I guess I'd say no. for now...

I can't stand O'neil. He's a major floater. Reminds me of Nolan: the potential to be a superstar, but has no work ethic.
I can't help but think that we'd get the best return on Theo from Colorado. Having said that I think Gainey would be crazy to give up on him. We all saw what he's capable of in 01-02. Players don't fluke a season like that. This has the potential to be another Leclair, Roy, or Chelios type deal.

Hard to say - O'Neil couldn't save the cane's last year and I think the same would apply to us :however Theo didn't save our bacon either, and O'Neil had decent numbers a la Zednick. Theo's hot and cold start to this season makes me wonder if he will ever repeat as a vezina winner again. Probably not, and his contract Tempting now, but I'd hold and see if Theo's stock goes up!

I think Théo is worth considerably more than either O'Neill or Zednik. Those two can influence the course of only a very few games. Théo already has 3 shutouts already and obviously influenced those games. He also had several 1 goal games.

Shades of Roy -> Thibault+Rucinsky, except you forgot the goalie coming our way

I wouldn't trade Theo for him but the trade would fit. The Canes need a young stud in net, and the Habs need a young power forward.
With a little bit of tinkering I don't think that a Jeff O'Neill trade is too far fetched. He's scored only one goal in 11 games so far and the Canes seem to be in a rebuilding mode so they might want to shed some salary.

To be honest, I'm in favour of listening to offers for Jose.
He's obviously our most tradeable asset, and what if he never regains his form? With the current team in front of him, what can you really expect? I think his value will only go done from here, for this season at least. Next season (if there is one) looks like the team will be comprised of a lot of young guys, thus playoffs look out of the question again.
As for O'Neill, I'd love to get this guy. Though I'd hold out for a tad more from Carolina. Imagine Cole and O'Neill, though Carolina would laugh that one off.
