* Mike Weaver.. wow! I resign this guy today. He's a right-handed Josh Gorges, only stronger and much, much cheaper. Again, took a big hit to make a play, and was very active standing players up at the blueline. And he levelled Dan Paille. a Hab that will hit and take a hit. how long have we been clamoring for that? I agree -- sign him up! Props to MB for making the move. as much as I was thinking "what the . . ." -- MT played it right. you have more faith in the brass [because they don't have any] than I do. a "tsk tsk" is about all I expect -- at the most! they have been on the verge of Leaf/Philly territory for me for a while . . . but as long as we keep beating them more than losing to them, it'll stay a "very strong dislike". Pleks wasn't the only one, though. for a while they couldn't clear the zone to save their lives [or to keep my blood pressure down]. they'd pass the puck to a Bruin, or carry it out and leave it on a B's stick. where is the coach with a solution? it just happens too often, game in and game out.

I love being on the right side of "I can't hear you -- I'm looing at the final score". I can't hear you, I have my stanley cup rings plugging my ears. nah, I can't say that [well, to a Leaf fan I can] -- the B's have one later than we do. but if the stars align [ah, there I go hoping and wishing again -- no links to Dusty Springfield, please].

I wonder what his stats are vs. the Bruins post-broken neck. PRIOR TO " THE HIT" YEAR | HOME | AWAY | 2008/09 | 1GP 0G 0A | 1GP 0G 0A | 2009/10 | 1GP 0G 1A | 1GP 0G 0A | 2010/11 | 3GP 2G 2A | 1GP 2G 0A |
2010/11 should be accompanied by an asterix ... he really only played half the game, so I'd delete one of the games played at home AFTER " THE HIT" YEAR | HOME | AWAY | 20011/12 | 3GP 1G 0A | 3GP 0G 1A | 2012/13 | 2GP 0G 0A | 2GP 1G 2A | 2013/14 | 2GP 1G 1A | 2GP 1G 0A |
So before the hit he had 8 games played and recorded 4G, 3A ... an argument can be made that he came into his own in 2010/11 and in those 4 games had 4G, 2A After the hit, he has played 14 games, recording 4G, 4A ... but again, if you eliminate the first two years, he is coming back into his own with 2G and 1 A in the 4 games this year

Thanks Skilly. Yeah, when Chara took him out, Max was in a groove. Who can blame him for being tentative afterwards.? He certainly hasn't been performing against them as well as one would hope. IMO.

Great honest article in The Hockey News... Suck on it Boston media The Hockey NewsJust confirms what we already knew. Deny, deny, deny ... no league intervention ... no reasons to think otherwise ... whether it's a season-ending hit from behind into the boards or another stick to the pills, we, that is we in Montreal, will see this behavior again from the Bruins again ... there probably won't be any league intervention ... no reasons to think otherwise ... One other thing ... the owner of a local golf course is a Bruin fan. He told me that the one team he doesn't want the Bruins to play is Montreal. If any Boston fan tells me otherwise, he said they'd be lying. Cheers.

Great honest article in The Hockey News... Suck on it Boston media The Hockey NewsI disagree with one thing mentioned in that article. Emelin hip check was textbook, however, Boychuk's hip check was only "legal" because PK saw what was about to transpire. Boychuk was clearly too low and going for the knees and a smart play , or more precisely a non-play (he stopped) , allowed Boychuk to miss.

Boychuk was clearly too low and going for the knees and a smart play , or more precisely a non-play (he stopped) , allowed Boychuk to miss. I'm trying to look at it objectively....I mean, I detest Boychuk...but it's difficult to tell for certain that he's too low....he certainly trailed his leg after Subban avoided the brunt. PK took the first shot from behind. Boychuk responded, and Subban was Ali-like in avoiding it. Boychuk threw off the gloves expecting Subban to do the same....but PK skated away. That would've ended it right there...but Subban turned back into Boychuck, knowing that he'd get thrown down. Smart play by Subban....that's how you get under the skin...and get that Bruin blood boiling to the point of losing control. You just have to hope the refs call it correctly. McGuire and his "shifting scale" of officiating. Euphemism for, "The Bruins are getting shafted....on purpose!" Did he watch the third period....when Montreal took 4 straight penalties, only one of which was warranted? Another "shifting scale"? My biggest complaint is that the refs are too influenced by the score and/or situation. A team's down by 2? Give them a PP or two in the third period. Somebody's trying to make the playoffs and they're at home? Let's be extra-discerning with them. Etc. Officiating should not be subjective. But fans are...and so many judge the refereeing with our own perspective. I mean, look at Lucic the other night....calling Emelin a chicken for going low with the hit. Of course, he'd rather meet Emelin shoulder-to-shoulder or arms-to-chest....but Emelin tried that before and blew out his knee. Nothing wrong with that Bobby Baun-er!

I'm kind of glad that I didn't hear McGuire. I just finished saying he's come around, but then I read this and ... As for Lucic, he knows what he's doing but he also knows he'll be backed up by his mates. He's in the deny mode and he knows he's wrong, but he could care less. The target is now Emelin and he's trying to goad him into a scrap he knows he'll win. I also believe that Emelin is now a target for the Bruins and Lucic has set that up, too. They'll use Lucic's "he-went-for-my-knees" lie just to substantiate the attention I suspect Emelin will be the brunt of. They know they're full of it, but they could care less. They know what they're doing, CH. And as BC suggested a few years back ... whatever ... Man, I think the season would be a total success if we were the team that eliminates the Bruins. We'd hear how biased the officiating was, how much Montreal is a team of divers, the league is fixed, etc. But, imagine the amount of penis envy that would generate in "Bastan". Cheers.

It's Chara-Pacioretty all over again. Why can't Lucic take it like a man and say, "I wrecked his knee with a clean check (albeit initiated by Emelin)....and now he got me with a clean hip check."? Idealistically, Shanahan's department should be drawn to any such ridiculous denial/spin.....but realistically, as we can see, Lucic didn't even get fined for the spear. Colin Campbell still has final say in that department--who's kidding who? So, as HA says (and as my avatar continues to say) we have no choice but to arm up. And we're much better able to counter, when healthy, than we've been in quite some time.

Everyone knows that Emelin can't fight, especially the heavyweights, because of the metal plate in his face .... If I'm Therrien, in the playoffs if we meet Boston, I tell Emelin to wear a full mask and go crazy with throwing checks at everything that moves

Same here Dis. Goons don't have much of a place in the playoffs, but getting a replacement for George might have been the only thing Berg didn't address at the deadline. I have no idea who the best in the league is really. Biznasty comes to mind because of his popularity. He's a UFA in the summer. I'd throw Parros' money at him and see. Paul doesn't mind not playing every game, and he's got the resume.

Laraque had much to say about Lucics' comments after the game. He said that he tried to get him to fight. saying that he was a bruin, he was tough and to prove it to everybody. Lucic would have none of it. Emelin doesn't have to answer for every hit. I didn't hear Cambell tell the media that Weaver was a chicken for not fighting after having laid out Paille.
While I believe a Lucic,Neal,Prust player is extra valuable in the season and more so in the playoffs, a Steve Macintyre type player, even in the rafters, does wonders to calm everybody down and release the pressure. I remember playing the Bruins in the playoffs and in game 1 Lapointe was hitting everything that moved. Next game Habs dressed Langdon and that was the end of that. Just the threat of having your face broken is enough. Doesn't work for Chara any more, he's too valuable to the B's to take a stupid penalty.

The key with Chara is to have our goon goad him into a fight when the B's 4th line is not on the ice, he has no choice but to fight, otherwise Thornton or Campbell will get involved in place of Chara. Big Mac would be a good replacement. You want a guy who knows his role and is happy with it.

Now, perhaps somewhat out of apathy, I'm not sure there's a solution other than time. Chara is 37. He's showing signs of visibly slowing down. His contract runs another 4 years but I highly doubt he plays it out. That whole organization will get a lot smaller and a lot less willing when he's gone.

I want a Steve Macintyre, Patrick Bordeleau, Brian McGrattan, Luke Gazdic Type player to do so. Extra bonus is that the B's lose a valuable D man where as we lose an otherwise useless forward. 1 out of six hurts more than 1 out of 12.

Lucic simply scratched Emelin's itch as any good friend does and you people manned the barricades. Like you are going to tell me that none of you grabbed a stick and done that at a friends behest? Hmm? You never seen chimps pick fleas of each other? Hmm? So how is this different? And my vote goes for Bordeleau or Gazdic.

The players we want knocked out and bleeding will probably never fight a designated goon type anyways. In the bruins world that's not chicken, it's smart. We saw it with Lucy and George. They'll pull the same usual crap and just refuse to fight. Until we get more tough regular shift type guys it's better to just play our game and ignore them, it drives them nuts.

Both Boychuk and Ferrence didn't give PK a chance to say no. Chara attacked Emelin, Emelin had no choice to come out swinging. Lucic has no problem mauling Kostitsyn after Andrei laid him out. All I want is A beefcake to do the same, once. Send the message.
