New poster here, live in NY, gf is a diehard Rangers fan, am going to surprise her with tix for the Rangers game 3/26 at the Belle Centre. I've never been, does anyone have any tips about buying tickets and what sections to look for or avoid? Looking for the best seats, as I want it to be special for her. Any tips will be helpful. Also, is there any message board or archive on this site where other Habs fans sell tickets for games they can't make? Stubhub prices are absurd right now. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to our this great discussion board mountainlions. Please review the Code of Conduct.
Regarding your inquiry, I don't know about where you could get tickets but Le Crystal hotel across the street from the Bell Centre is a beautiful hotel with a pool on the 12th floor and an outdoor hot tub

Yeah, welcome to the board, mate ... I used to get updates from the Canadiens official website ... they'd sometimes include what day tickets go on sale for subsequent month ... you can probably get a deal right outside the Bell Centre if you don't mind missing the first 10 minutes ... Cheers.

Hey bud, you can check out a previous thread on this board where I gave a pretty good breakdown of the Bell Centre. Here's the link: habsrus.proboards.com/thread/15823/bell-center-seatingHope it works and helps. As for tickets, check eBay or kijiji. Stub hub is generally pretty crazy. You can also try the Habs website for tickets, they generall release a number of tickets for the following months' games on the 15th Of each month. So on Feb 15 they will release tickets for March (and likely the few in April).

I usually go down to the Bell Centre the afternoon of the game where there are often a number of scalpers with wads of tix. Not outrageous prices and great selection. Of Course if the Habs have been eliminated from the post season prices should be bargain basement. Assuming you're paying with some George Washingtons should make for an inexpensive evening. Definitely have a few hot dogs - best anywhere.
My only concern is that if you're Rags fans then it will be nice if your team wins. But if you want to truly experience Montreal and the joie de vivre of the locals you need to be in attendance for a Habs win. No fans celebrate with the shear enjoyment and 'party on' spirit like Montrealers at a Habs game. Sure hope the game has some significance for the playoffs! Either way, have fun!
By the way, it is the "Bell Centre" after Bell multimedia, the mega corporation as is the nature of sports corporate sponsorship these days. Must say though "Belle" is much more romantic.

Either way, have fun! get there early, plan to stay late. the pre-game festivities are great in the esplanade. and on the way home? it'll be noisy if the Habs win . . . "Ole Ole Ole" . . . not so much if the tank job continues -- or who knows, maybe a collective chant will go up: "we're number 29!"
