Hi every one, i'm a first time poster but long time viewer, I've been reading post almost everyday for about a year. I find here some real interressing opinions, lively discussions, and a sense a humour that i couldnt find in other boards. All this done in respect of other posters. Mr. Bozo's is just by himself worth the entry fee... wich is none I wish you'll accept me as part of this wonderful community. And just for the fun of it, i'd like to know how some of you found this board and what are the positive things it brought to you to partcipate to it.

Hi and welcome.
I found this board while mainly posting on another board. (you sort of get to know all the popular boards after a while).
The thing that I like the most here is that there is no juvenile trolling by fans of other teams.
By the way, have you heard anything about Jason Ward's status. How long is he out for ?

An ftp/ltv eh? ;D Welcome aboard.
I used to read the (mostly Montreal Gazette) articles on faceoff.com almost daily. The comments that people would post there were mostly stupid or insulting but one day somebody posted a link to HabsRus and I thought I'd check it out. I was of course amazed at the level of respect and intelligence on this board and quickly gave up reading the comments on faceoff.com. Before long I even stopped reading the articles as I found the quality and accuracy of the writing here to be much higher.

I gotta agree, many boards on the net are crowded with people who just go there to bash or insult. The structure i find in here allow everyone to express their opinions without the fear of being drowned in a sea of (forbidden ) words

Welcome to HabsRus patate.
Since you have been reading this board for such a long time then I guess I don't need to remind you what we are all about and the "magic" word that his community is built on. Respect.
How I found this place? Well, I was surfing the net looking for articles on the “Promised Land” and I kept getting HabsRus. I am not sure if that was because the Hab’s lived the “Promised Land” for so long or it was that there was a site out there in the wild, wild internet that thrived on peoples love of their Hab’s and respect for each other.
Either way, I squatted here…….

Hi patate. Welcom aboard. Always good to meet a new member of the community. I first found the site a long long time ago when I was doing a search for "The Habs" and I came across a top ten sight that had Habsrus near the top of the list. At that time it was a relatively small community, but I really liked what I was reading from the likes of Bad Company, Doc Holliday, Disgruntled 70's Fan, and of course Clear Observer as well as many others. For awhile I even wrote articles for Habsrus under the monkier Sask Habs Fan but "the real world" called and time constraints prevented me from continuing my writing career. Besides I really sucked compared to our current group of writers. I don't do alot of posting anymore, mainly due to the same time constraints, but I'm always lurking around somewhere. I'm looking forward to reading your thoughts and opinions in the future. Once again, welcom aboard.

With MC, I did the faceoff.com thing (never a poster); also sportsnet.ca, where someone pointed in this direction and here I am. I seem to be stuck here in Oz and there is no escape, but that's not so bad, as the company is pretty demented so I don't feel too out of place.

hey patate I found this board long ago when the montreal gazette had a list of Habs Links with their oown independant web page b4 faceoff.com (which i might add sucks now) I remember when this page actually had a domain @ www.habsrus.com and when they moved to canucks board or sumthing, then back to habsrus.com and those chats in those java chat rooms and now just the boards exist... I just wanted to know out of curiosity why we have so many different sections now and why there's no more actual webpage with all those articles posted

Unfortunately, our Code of Conduct will not allow us to save more lost and beaten souls..... Actually, a site like this needs a critical mass of posters. Too many and opinions will be drowned by sheer volume. Too few andyou get bored. What is right? Probably a couple of hundred active posters and a trillion viewers (sending beer and pizza).

Welcome aboard patate! I stumbled upon this place from the Montreal Gazette website. They had a list of the top ten Habs sites and HabsRus was near the top of the list (no. 2 or 3 if I remember correctly). Although it hasn't been easy to be a fan of the CH over the past half decade or so, being a part of this community has lessened the pain to some extent. IMO, you won't find a better place to talk Habs. Happy posting to ya.

Spiro does have the software and the server ready to go. But........ I am one of the prime objectors from moving because we have been hacked so many times before. It took a LOOOOONG time for HabsRus to get back on it's feet from the last time we got hacked. In fact, we lost most of the members for months until they found us again. However..... It WOULD be nice to have a home page and links to all our articles. Spiro, what say you?

yah i remember the 1st time we got hacked .. sum punk kid with videotron connection and u guys busted him using his IP number... I think we did lose a lot of members cuz of the page down but u have no idea how long it took me to google this page back into my favorites list... I also spotted someone else once (on habsfan page i think...) who was mentioning once how there used to be a page called habsrus and there isnt anymore and i sent him a link... its sad how now most of the threads are gameday threads or so few.. I hate trying to navigate 4 or 5 boards to find threads to read

Maybe we should just have a Geocities-type home page, that serves as a redirect to this place, and that's indexed by search engines.

Welcome Patate. I too would love to have a Mike McPhee calibre moustache. Although I'm not a regular poster here, I do frequent the board to get the latest opinions and updates on the Habs. I find this site has the most knowledgeable Habs fans out there in cyberspace. Being a Hab fan in T.O. isn't always easy with the completely Leaf oriented media out here. I only get to see a handful of games a year as well so the gameday threads are very informative.

Hi patate, i am also a long time viewer of this site and you inspired me to finally just make a few mouse clicks and register. Now that i've listened to all of your opinions you can finally all hear mine..isnt that exciting?!?! I remain optimistic about this team but you must understand my patience for this team runs thin because of my love for these guys, every play gone wrong i cringe, my own family cannot watch the game with me sometimes because i annoy them with my negativity. I will be using this site only for the positives though and possibly vent frustrations (hopefully minimal) contructively and not get on nerves.

Patate, I'd like to explain how I got here, but I have no freakin idea. One day I was sitting quite placidly at my computer and these 3 guys burst into the room.....3 BIG guys. Next thing I wake up in a van, shackled to a dumb terminal that has no connections except to this place and occasionally USAtoday so I can cut and paste the Dogs game scores. My family hasn't seen me in 3 years (they don't seem to be making much of an effort to locate me and the FBI guys at "Without a Trace" just ordered pizza and beer when my absence was brought to their attention). Good thing this place has coffee.

It was a very long time ago (four years i think)
A reply on a tread i made on another board started it all
The poster: an unknown fellow named BadCompany.
The reply was very structured, knowledgeable and extremely respectful. Suffice to say i was impressed. after commenting about it in the tread, that mysterious stranger told me something like:
" that's funny, i'm considered one of the most forceful in my opinions on the main board i post. " (approx quote)
From this day on, each new board i discovered i looked if a BadCompany was in the posters. after about a year, i discovered this board at last and it was like finding the paradise of boards. And to discover BC wasn't alone...oh the joy ;D
I will never forget BC was the first contact. I quickly became a big fan of others of course (special mention to Disgruntled 70'shab and HabsAddict)

I continued reading the articles mostly, but on one occasion, while browsing through some comments, I saw a link to "the best Habs' board on the Internet". and I never looked back... R.

It looks like everyone here has a favorite poster or two. I found this site accidentally about year and a half ago or earlier (to be honest I don’t remember). And I really mean the site not the board as I was mainly reading articles. But then, one not so fine day it disappeared and I couldn’t find it for a couple of months. Luckily someone from the board found a Russian forum devoted to the Habs and posted there providing a link to HabsRus. Who was it by the way? It is definitely “the best Habs’ board on the Internet”

Welcome aboard patate! And thanks for the kind words...I think. ;D Don't forget to post and let the chips fall where they may(o). We may be a somewhat rabid bunch and bark loudly sometimes, but we do not bite.
As to how I arrived at this circus:
I vaguely remember being shanghaied and pressed into service by some stocky, swarthy fellow who's breath was redolent of tzatziki and who sported a tattoo which read "HabsForever" on the inside of one forearm.
Now I spend my days chained to a keyboard...
