Just got the "invitation" in my message centre. But I'm stayin' right here. Loyalty is paramount where I come from. If somebody wants to start another site, go ahead, just don't break the "Geneva conventions" of the board you're leaving.

I think Spiro last post is a testament of the class that this community has always shown.
Marc and Viper, I hope that you will be able to resolve your disagreements and come back to our community. You were both quality posters and it would be a shame to lose you over a dispute that, I'm sure, could be easily resolved.

This is the second time I have posted, but I read the board on a daily basis. It is hard to believe that this is happening.
This is by far the best Habs. Great work Spiro!!
I should give back to the board and post every once in awhile.

I would like to clear some things up here if I may.
There seemed to be great interest in a keeper league here at HabsRus(http://habsrus.proboards4.com/index.cgi?board=200203Pool&action=display&n=1&thread=1038025708). Nobody seemed to want to start one, and having been in a fantasy league for a bit, I decided to buy the program and start one here with some members from HabsRus. I was the one who created "The Unofficial HabsRus Hockey Simulation League" much to my dismay... I wasnt aware that "HabsRus" was a copyrighted and registered name, not having seen any copyrights or information on this site. My intention was never to benefit from Spiro's hard work managing this board, I just thought it would be a neat thing to do. I even decided to put "Unofficial" as to not ruin HabsRus credibility.
When Marc posted the thread (you can see it on the pool board) I was never PMed about it being against copyrights established on this board. I made a mistake by not talking to the Administrator of this forum or any of the moderators, but they didnt seem to mind having not received any comments from that earlier thread. I no longer had the time to run the league because of my school work and left Viper and Marc to run the league, but it was still in my possession having created the forum and the main site. Next thing I know Sprio is threatening legal action and banned Viper and Marc's accounts on this board. I would have willingly changed the name of the league if I had been contacted by PM or email, but Spiro never approached me regarding the simulation league. It was never my intention to hurt the HabsRus community, I just wanted to have some fun with fellow members I have grown with here on these boards during my short stay. I took this thread as a personal insult (and deleted my account), which may or may not have been right, it was brought before the community before I had even heard of the problem.
I have personally deleted both websites that had the "HabsRus" name on them, I would have done so 17 days ago if it would have been brought to my attention. Once again, I never meant any harm to Spiro or any other poster, my intention was never to profit off Spiro and this community. My fanatasy league is free of charge and I put hundreds of hours work organizing it for some mebers of this community, it was never meant to remove anything from this community.
I am sorry this discussion ever arised, I hope it can be cleared up now.

Good stuff Thomas, glad to have you back.
I can't speak for Spiro, but I think we knew there was no truly harmful intentions, it was just the lack of respect and cooperation after the issue was raised that has caused all of this disruption.
You have my thanks for acting so quickly, I guess we now know who was/is actually in charge.

Thomas,
I was the one who saw a thread about those leagues and deleted the thread the second I saw that it had the HabsRus name in it. I also informed Marc and Viper that they were infriginging on the HabsRus name within minutes of my thread deletion.
This is all I will say about this in public.
Take the matter to pm to resolve it with Spiro.

I think there are many people that can deny that. There is no doubt that Marc was a very valuable member of this community, but I think that it's very unfair to the Moderators and to other frequent posters, to say that this board is what it is solely because of Marc.

Absolutely. I consider losing Marc a huge loss to this community, but life will go on. The forum that CO built is still #1 in my books. Edit: #1 by a looooooonng shot...

I think anyone who's participated in other online forums / communities knows how ugly it can get. I'm appreciative of the great job that CO, and company, has done in maintaining the integrity of this site. It's also too bad that we've lost such a valued, prolific poster. Hopefully it's a situation that can be resolved amicably. Cheers, Andrew

I was speaking in general terms. However, if you must know, www.canadiensmemorabilia.com/ forwarded a polite letter asking me to cease using a fragment of their logo...of course I have not been using their logo....they were mistakingly refering to the offending site that I am refering to. CO I have deliberately stayed out of this because, frankly, I can't be bothered. As Dis is want to say, this is pure escapism for me. I do it for fun. Fun. I don't like being bothered with real life squabbles and disputes and so on. I get enough of that in real life. I'd be lying if I said I never jumped into any of them, both on the internet and in reality, but I have never enjoyed them. So I will try to keep my participation in this to a minimum. The above quote from Spiro is really the only quote that matters. Spiro has received, and will undoubtedly continue to receive, letters from web sites asking that he stop using their web site content on "HabsRus." The problem, of course, was that Spiro is NOT using their web site content, the others are. Spiro has asked, repeatedly (it was brought up on the Moderator board some time ago) for Administrative Control over that board, so that when he does receive letters from people like this, he can take appropriate action. He has no desire to "conquer" the other boards, or shutting them down, he just doesn't want people blaming him when the go astray of some internet rule. Think of it this way; say, just for the sake of argument, I decided to take Doc Holiday's internet name, and register it at Habfans.com. Once logged in, as Doc Holiday, I proceed to slam, attack, insult, and fight with every member of that fine site. Now, Doc Holiday is a well know Habs fan, a well known internet name (just as HabsRus is a well known internet site), so Duane, the moderator/owner of that board, would probably send Doc a polite letter, asking him just what the heck he is doing. Doc, of course, would be tres surprised, as he has made none of the posts being attributed to him. So of course, he would try to figure out what was going on, and get me to stop using his name at Habsfans.com, so that he, Doc, would not keep getting increasingly angry letters from Duane, demanding that he stop. Now if I ignored Doc, and continued to post under his name, don't you think that would upset him a little? Don't you think he would try to get me to stop, in whatever way was possible? What if Duane threatened to sue Doc, for ruining Habsfans? Or breaking some actual law? This is all Spiro wants. Again, he didn't want to shut down the Sim league, he didn't want to control it, to take it over, to own it, he just wanted to make sure that it followed the rules, as it is his name, his site, that takes the blame when it doesn't. He has ALREADY received letters from other sites asking him to CHANGE the HabsRus SIM league board. He can't, because he has no control over it. In effect, he is being blamed for something he did not do, and every effort made to rectify the situation fell on deaf ears. I do not know why that is so. I know there is no malicious intent here. None of the parties involved are happy with the way things have transpired, and I am sure the great hope is that this board, and the SIM league, exist in complete and utter harmony. That's my intent anyways. But there has to be some give and take involved. Spiro cannot keep taking the fall for things he has no control over. This is a big site, it is well known. Journalists, players, fans from around the world all visit it. If you say HabsRus, people think of this very place. Its why SportsMemorbilia sent their letter to Spiro - they thought he was involved. I hope that explains the situation a little better. I don't believe, I don't want to believe, that there is any backstabbing going on, that this is a power struggle, that people have to choose sides, by either resigning, or pledging their allegiance to HabsRus, as their one true love. Not only does it make me feel kind of queasy, but its against the Code of Conduct. The Internet is a very large and fluid community, and we here at HabsRus are not in competition with any other site, Habs related or otherwise. We like our community, and we are sure that other sites like their communities as well. There is no reason for this to continue. (seriously though, can I say anything without rambling on for 43 pages?? I have a problem...)
