Sometimes, it's dangerous being a goalie. This question is a two-parter:
Trivia question: 1) Who took out his own goalie during the warm-up? Former Hab. 2) Who took out his own goalie, with the help of the other team's forward, near the end of a game? Current Hab.
Hints: Both are from Quebec. Both are known for their slapshots. Answer 1 was a slapshot. Answer 2 was a pile-up.

I'll guess along...Richer and "I Can't Skate Backwards" Bergeron. Alright, Mr. Funny The answer to question 1 is indeed Stéphane Richer: In a well documented legend, during one pre-game warm up session in New Jersey, Richer fired a slapshot at his own goalie, Martin Brodeur, which shattered the cup in Brodeur's jock strap, leaving him bruised and nauseated. Brodeur had to leave the ice and change equipment moments before the game started. All I can say to that is OUCH! The answer to question 2 is indeed Marc-André Bergeron: Near the end of game one of the 2006 Stanley Cup Finals, Bergeron tried to steer Carolina Hurricanes forward Andrew Ladd wide of the net, but the two of them piled into Oilers goaltender Dwayne Roloson, causing him to be injured for the remainder of the Finals. There is no proof that he was skating backwards at the time *** Now don't anyone tell Cammy, but I think he's been replaced. I believe that I am beyond obsessed with Marc-André these days... go figure

I'd go for Glen Metropolit.

And I'd forgotten about that MAB miscue. That guy might have cost the Oilers a Cup... We should keep both our goalies.... just in case !

From Wiki: Gomez's season ended early when he was seriously injured by Bakersfield Condors enforcer Ashlee Langdone, who checked him into an open bench door during game 4 of the Pacific Division Semifinals. Another OUCH moment indeed! I liked this quote from the article you found: Meanwhile, he still thinks about playing for his hometown Anchorage team, where one fan throws a salmon on the ice when the Aces score.
"It was fun playing there," said Gomez, who was the ECHL MVP after notching 86 points in 61 games.
"Maybe it will help my political aspirations once my career is over." ;D

Trivia question:Which current Hab holds a team record (not with us) for most goals in a season? Brian Gionta - 48 (New Jersey Devils)~That 48 just happens to be a personal best for Gio as well, whether NHL or pre-NHL. ~He is the shortest current NHL player at 5'7"... except when the Sabres let Nathan Gerbe play, because he's either 5'5" or 5'6", depending on which site you check (Wiki and nhl.com, respectively). Nathan played 2 games back in December. ~Coincidentally, Gio and Gerbe both played for Boston College Eagles/Boston College in their younger days.

Pierre Mondou Pierre facts: ~first round pick in the 1975 Amateur Draft by both the Canadiens and the WHA’s Quebec Nordiques [didn't know you could do that...] ~in 1976-77, he ended his AHL season as a Calder Cup champion ~he then got the call to join the big club, playing four games in the Finals to become one of the select few players in history to earn a Stanley Cup title before appearing in an NHL regular season game ~he is also one of a handful of players to have added their name to the score sheet in both their first and last NHL games *** Trivia question:They were both quarterbacks for their high school teams. Hints:~both are D ~both are American Answer for current d: Hal Gill - quarterback at Nashoba Regional High School in Bolton, Massachusetts Former D: Komisarek? Turns out that Mr. Val *does* listen to me... at times. I usually tell him what the day's questions were, not that I think he really cares, but oh well. He says: "I know the current guy. It's Hal Gill." Me: "And how do you know that? Or did I tell you?" Mr. Val: "You did, a couple of weeks ago!" The former D is not Komisarek. This guy is deceased. He played his first NHL game, with us, on my brother's 6th birthday (February 22, 1976).

Bill Nyrop was the back-up QB at Notre Dame in college ... so I'll say him Bill also played quarterback at Edina High School (the team was undefeated) and he lead the hockey team to its first state title in 1969. Even though Bill was the back-up QC at UND, he was injured in practice and never played for the team, instead playing hockey during his four years in college. He passed away at 43 of inoperable colon cancer (that spread to his liver and lungs). Terrible way to go... *** Ok, boys, when you're injured, you shouldn't be out having fun. Trivia question:He went skiing, while dealing with a knee injury that prevented him from playing hockey... We turfed him. Who was he? That would be him! From your article: Malakhov, whose commitment to the team has been questioned, suddenly [Val: quelle coincidence] pronounced himself fit to play against the Ottawa Senators Saturday.
Asked whether his decision was based on his salary being withheld until he played, Malakhov said, "No, no." [Val: Sure... is there a bridge you'd like to sell us next?] *** Trivia question:A certain coach, from Long Island, is supposedly quite good. Born in Long Island, or a Lithuanian immigrant who coached in Long Island?
If it's the latter, I'd go for Aleksey Nikiforov, who trained these ex-Habs:
Zubrus Kovalev Higgins Komisarek Malakhov
Edit: And one ex-Nordiques! Uwe Krupp.
