While we were going through the motions last night in Detroit, down the road in Ann Arbor Mac Bennett had a good night in Michigan's 5-2 win. He was 1+1 and +4 for the night. He has struggled to put up points this season, but he plays a lot as the team' top defender. The kid is a nice skater, as evidenced by last night's goal. I guess Max went to see his alma mater play the night before and brought along Gally. m.youtube.com/watch?v=yeV_Ygp2U5k&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DyeV_Ygp2U5k

McCarron seems to taking advantage of his better ice time due to Bo Horvat's injury. Last night he had a goal and a fight. Tonight he has two assists.

That may be a better clip than Horvat.

I really like the way he bulled past that defender on the first highlight. The guy had the angle on him, but McCarron still pushed by. It looks like he probably needs to work on his first step, which isn't unusualy for big guys with a long stride. His top end speed is pretty good. He looks deceptively slow because of that long stride, but no one's catching him, so his speed is ok. Thanks NWT.

Three assists for Captain Crisp (6'4, 225lbs) in a 4-2 win this afternoon. Crisp (6'4, 225lbs) now has ten points in ten games this January, and is +9 over that same time frame.

I'm glad I read the rest of the thread before posting. I wanted to mention Connor Crisp (6'4", 225lbs), but you already did. One young man I'm following with interest is in the Flyer system. Scott Laughton is having a great year in Oshawa. I doubt they'd give him up, but He's in the mold of who we'd be looking for (like most other teams). Cheers.

Crisp is an interesting prospect, and as we drafted him at 19, he can can be signed and playing in Hamilton next season. He only played 6 games in his first draft eligible year due to injuries, so likely fell off the radar a bit. He is one point away from matching his best offensive production. The guy just seems to work hard and bring a lot to his team. I don't see that offense being a big part of his game at the next level, but we shall see. Nice to see them picking these type of players too, not just the undersized flashy ones.

I'll echo the comments about McCarron on that rush up ice. He showed some speed and strength to get through/around the defender and into the offensive zone.
I've got my fingers crossed for Crisp.
Love to have Zadorov. Huge kid and a shot even Subban can be impressed with.

I still wonder if we shouldn't have picked Anthony Duclair, everyone who sees him play at the junior level sees a lot of spunk and potential in him...

Hunters usually know what they are doing, if it works out will improve McCarron's NHL future

They are talking on turning him into a center. Hunters usually know what they are doing, if it works out will improve McCarron's NHL future I disagree. The only way that the McCarron pick makes sense to me is if he is able to contribute in a top 6 role, otherwise it's a waste of a first round pick IMO. I don't think he has the skill or speed to be a top 2 center. The best fit is to compliment a skilled center and create space, go to the dirty areas, and make a living in front of the net.

He picked up a couple more assists last night. At least he is becoming a more involved player. Hope he can keep it going, as I am sure Hunter would love to have another contributing piece that he can use/mix/match as they head towards the Memorial Cup.

Looks like it has been a good week for our big boys: Connor Crisp (6'4, 225lbs): 3 goals, 3 assists, 6 points in his last 3 games Michael McCarron (6'6, 238lbs): 1 goal, 4 assists, 5 points in his last 3 games

If I had to make a comparison, McCarron's stats remind me of Wayne Cashman's. He wsa never a great scorer, he was ok, and he always had a lot more assists than goals, but he did a lot of the spade work and board work for Ken Hodge and Phil Esposito in the Bruins' glory days (pre-Cherry). IN Cashman's case, he was a very good fighter too, which I can't say McCarron is, but McCarron is a better skater than Cashman. Can't really think of a more recent example as that's going back too far. (I could have chosen Dickie Moore, but I never saw him play).
I'm pleased with McCarron's recent rediscovery of his scoring touch. Perhaps he was indeed nursing an injury.

I'm willing to be patient. I think McCarron's low side is in the mold of a Brian Boyle. Both late first rounders. We'll see if Mike can be more than that. I'm hoping for a little more offense, but if he comes in and can be a dominant 3rd line checker I can live with it. You need those types to go to war with, and we don't have much in that regard.

McCarron must be doing well at center, Hunters have put him on a pretty decent line. He is playing with Smith who has 58 points and Welychka 42. McCarron has 5 points in 3 games since moving to center. Including 2 assists in last game. In his first game at center McCarron won 12 of 14 faceoffs, and had a strong all-around game. Like to see McCarron turn out to be big, physical #3 center, somebody in mold of Couturier.

I get opinion Fucale be here sooner than we predict. In a few years Habs will be forced to trade Price. Likely for top offensive scorer. Combine this with at some point Galchenyuk will mature and Pacioretty and Gallagher still young our top 2 lines could be exciting in a couple of years.

Another goal for Michael McCarron (6'5, 238lbs) on Saturday. He now has 2 goals, 4 assists, 6 points in his last 5 games played.
Connor Crisp (6'4, 225lbs) was shut-out on Saturday, so he remains at 3 goals, 4 assists, 7 points in his last 5 games played.

I'm not sure I'm going to like Bozon much as a prospect, but if he can up his trade value, he'd be a great guy to throw in as a sweetener on a deal we are anxious to make.
McCarron, I'm glad to see find his scoring touch again. God, he's a big kid. When he celebrates a goal, he can do a group hug encircling the other 4 guys on the ice.

DLR with another SHL yesterday, now his 7th. Pretty good for an eighteen year old with questionable offensive upside. This kid's stock just keeps rising for me. The buzz is the he will be the WJC captain next year. He did at the U18s.

I know I was looking at him as a very high risk pick. I thought he was terrific in the 2013 WJC except that he couldn't buy a point if his life depended on it. That usually scares the hell out of me, as I have flashbacks of Jan Bulis (minus his 4 goal game), who had size, speed, etc. etc. but couldn't score. DLR is finding ways to put up points, and that is a really good thing. All the rest is there, speed, size, strength. He'd never have gone as late as the early 2nd round in most draft years. This year, he'd probably go between 10 and 15. I'm hoping he pans out as he is a complete package and s/b a solid 2nd line player who'll get you 50 points a year, with all the trimmings.
