Unreal first half in Bra vs Ger. 4-0 Germany with only a quarter of the game played. Brazilian defense was looking very porous early. German set plays were setting up chance after chance. It would appear to be all over but the crying now (which a significant number of the 70000 are already doing).

goals at 23, 24, and 26 minutes? and 29
4 goals in 7 minutes. when does that ever happen?
unless there is a "Habsian" comeback, this'll be Brazil's first loss at home in 70+ games

Their midfield was a no show. Germans pushed the ball up, made set flick plays to streaking forwards and had numbers every time. Never seen so many barely contested rushes in my life, and when the Germans slowed to pass it around in the box (trying to get goals for other guys), there was literally no back check coming from Brazil. They were all up field 'coasting'. Terrible.

Stadium is emptying with 15 mins to play. When's the last time anyone saw that at a WC game?

That was a CFL score, not a semi final score between the #2 and #3 ranked countries in the world. Amazing.
Now can the Dutch beat the favoured Argentinians?

Germany leads by a converted touchdown Fastest win for Germany since they rolled over France in WWII.

I haven't watched the game yet, but wasn't surprised at the loss. Firstly, losing a solid centre bac like Thiago Silva would throw out the back line chemistry. And when Neymar went down, I think the rest of the team lost it's will, anticipating a loss. Not much leadership on that team, so when adversity hits.....ouch.
I think the Dutch will win it all. They exercised some demons with the penalty kick win over Costa Rica, and it just seems like their year. The big win by the Germans was a game early. Too easy.

Talking about pressure and historic collapse. This is going down as the biggest choke in all sports, of all time.
Wonder how a Brazilian player feels and received on any street in Brazil.

Talking about pressure and historic collapse. This is going down as the biggest choke in all sports, of all time. Wonder how a Brazilian player feels and received on any street in Brazil. It was a perfect storm. Brazil played poorly and didn't defend. Germany was up for it and played great disciplined football. The bounces and posts worked for Germany. Brazil had a weaker team and was missing their best players. Brazil opened up to catch up and was open to counters. They lost one home game in 39 years. It's only one game. Germany has a very good team with many good players and a cohesive plan. Wanted to see Brazil win but the outcome was correct and justified.

After watching the first half of the game (any sense in watching the rest?), my first impressions were confirmed. Brutal defending by Brazil, perhaps because Silva wasn't there and David Luis is too much of an offensive gambler and risk taker to hold the fort himself on the back line. He lost Muller on the first goal and it was downhill from there. The Germans had tons of space and time and I kept thinking that Canada could have beaten Brazil when they played like that. Way too many Brazilians were waiting for the ball carrier to do something, and stood around watching instead of breaking for open space and creating options for the ball carrier. It was just a text book example of how not to play soccer. Germany are receiving kudos for their play, but really, they took what was given to them and wow, was a lot given to them.
We shall see how today's game works out. If I was Germany, though, I would not be happy with how they won yesterday. A tough, two goal win would have been much more beneficial.

Brazil defended like the Maple Leafs.
Tough loss for the home team, but the overall depth of the German squad took full advantage of Brazil missing Silva and Neymar.

Thanks guys, our country is going crazy right now. It was a nail-biter, Argentina played their best game of the tournament, but fortunately our team prevailed. What a relief!

I thought Palacio had the best chance that missed. He really should have managed to hit the net when he got the ball past Neuer. Oh well, good game, well played, well officiated, could have gone either way. Congratulations Deutscheland.
