I don't get Koivu. Why, unless it's to sign a one day deal and retire a Hab. I'd deal Tinordi for Kane. Would depend on the other pieces. I'd do Plekanec, Tinordi and a pick in 2016. With Plekanec, we'd have to throw in more cause of his age. He's what the Jets need as well.

Would hate to loose Tinordi, would rather give up one of our other young dmen.....but I would do it for Kane.
Saku....I would love to see him on our 3rd or 4th lines and on the PK, however we need to play our kids.

I would not like to lose Tinordi either but I guess you have to give to get. What worries me is the perceived attitude problems. Are they real or are they overblow by the media?
As for Koivu - can't see it. I think it's people making an easy connection without giving it a lot of thought.

It all depends on what you feel Tinordi's upside is. If he's another Hall Gill, well you pull the trigger, really quickly. If, however, he's more a Rod Langway lite, then I'd be having second thoughts. Bear in mind, I really, really like Evander Kane. He can be better than Patches, by perhaps next year. So, I'm really torn. I'm curious as to what the 'other bits' are, but I suspect its a centre like Pleks or DD and then spare parts (Moen et al). I might even be more inclined to give up our first next year (amazing eh?) than Tinner. We lose a lot of toughness without Tinordi. I'm higher on him than most, agreed, but I'd hate to give him up, so I understand the reluctance (and that's if this Creasy guy has any real info). He may be Eklund Jr for all we know. Even a blind squirrel....

We wouldn't be trading Tinordi for a rental, or an old player. He and Kane are the same age. Re Koivu, I just don't see him being an improvement over what we have. He'll also be 40 this fall. Pacioretty-DD-Parenteau (habs have video of PAP's tour of Brossard, he's hinting that he'd like to play with DD) Kane-Galchenyuk-Gallagher Top six is set. Weise-Eller-Sekac/Bourque Prust-Malhotra-Moen Bottom six seems set, and I haven't even mentioned Bournival.

A deal of Plekanec, Tinordi(or Beaulieu) and a pick for Kane would have the perfect domino effect on our team:
Gives us the big top 6 scoring winger we're missing. Allows to move Galchenyuk back to center. Clears the log jam of young dmen.

They wouldn't have to move Bourque or Moen to fit under the cap. Below, I've signed PK to $7.5 million, Eller to his QO, recalled Pateryn to be the 7th. There's almost $7 million in cap space (so you could give Eller a real raise if you wanted to - which I'm not inclined to do).

Not sure....I was just thinking it would be a good time to dump one of them if the jets were willing. I'm sure we would have to include a draft pick in there someplace.

Sure, I love to get Kane.....but.....and there is always a butt......what we saw in the playoffs with NY and then NY with LA is that we need to shut down the other teams cycle. Our normal sized defenseman simply can not stop the the never ending attack by teams like LA.
Now, why exactly are we going to give up a MAJOR piece of that shut down ability? Of the three kids, Tinordi is the most likely to succeed and we want to trade him?
Sure, I will take Kane but not for a defenseman. They can have draft choice and Pleks. Or Pleks and Bourque.

I find it comforting that tinordi is the sticking point...... I'm spectulating that Bergeron will not part with him........but trading plekanec for Kane will change our dynamic..... Galchenyuk shuffles to centre I guess would be a result

Can't see them trading Tinordi. Beaulieu I would believe. They would trade him before Tinordi as fear of character problems. PLUS Habs said they were counting on Tinordi to take some penalty killer minutes.

As hesitant as I would be to trade Tinordi, Kane has a higher ceiling imo. His ilk would be harder to draft. If they can get him for a package that includes Tinordi and guys who are not really part of the future, I think it's the right move.

I'd rather move Scherbak than Tinordi. Take your pick, Winnipeg...Pleks, Scherbak, 1st rounder.
This kid is a legit talent and tough as nails, and his value will never be lower. When he's 24 he'll be amazing.

I'm wondering how coachable a player Kane us ... if he isn't now, he'll have to tow the line under Therrien ... not saying this will happen, but how disciplined is Kane? ... #KaneinMontreal
Cheers.

Hard to say, Dis. One thing I know is that really competitive players hate to lose and they really, really, hate to lose. When they're on a team that is not really competitive, they can have 'attitude' issues because of that competitive nature, sometimes turning against their teammates who are probably trying hard enough, but don't have the skill or determination to breed success. It's immaturity and its a learning process to get past that. Being moved to a more competitive team often helps, because they start to see that simply having enough talent is not necessarily enough, so they learn that being supportive, working hard and defending your teammates is the right thing to do. Sometimes they never learn, but their chances are better on a team where they are one of several key guys and not THE key guy. Course, if you're PK and brimming with confidence, it doesn't matter.

I don't know how deep the problem is with Kane. Odd that Jets have him on trade block. I am not a big fan of his but if they can get a deal on him, sure.

We have surplus assets at centre and in D prospects, but you want to target the right guy. I think some combination of Pleks or Eller plus Tinordi or Beaulieu for Kane would be a win win for both teams. I haven't watched Kane all that closely but he's young and still improving and has a good contract. As you said Doc, it also allows us to finally develop Galchenyuk as a centre, we get the top 6 winger we need to replace Vanek, and we still keep one of our best D prospects.

I doubt there is a big trade coming. If he was this close on a Kane it would have happened around the draft. Before the Gorges caper et all. Team will enter the season basically as you see it now. There is need to add top 6 RW, but sounds like first chance will go to a rookie. If that fails see Parenteau play top 6 minutes for awhile till a mid season trade is made. Habs have caproom to make big move around deadline time.

Berg may patiently wait to see how what he has plays. That said, there are clubs out there actively seeking centers. We have a glut. Whether based in fact, or not, there are a few clubs that would appear to be good trade partners. The Jets seem to be one of them. Regarding Kane's attitude, it's been a couple of years since the Las Vegas picture with 50g in his hands. I haven't heard anything negative from Maurice, but it seemed evident that he and a number of his team mates didn't see eye to eye with Noel. It's easy to forget he's just 22. I think the Habs have enough professional development people on staff to be able to work with him, should the move actually happen.

Kane is a young top 6 scorer. Speed, and skill are his tools. He has toughness to boot and he likes to play physical. A max Pacioretti but with toughness and a nose for the corner. He's everything we are clamoring for. We should be drooling at aa chance to have guy like this for the future, not just a rental guy at the end of his career, but a young guy who can make a difference.
If they want Tinordi, fine. While Dalton Thrower might not have the size, he is every bit as tough, maybe even more. We also have Dietz, tough, big and plays with an edge. We have D prospects that can replace Tionordi.
Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy what Tinordi brings, if I had a choice between Beaulieu and Tinner, I would pick Tinner everyday of the week and twice on Sunday, but to acquire a gem like Kane, we have to give to receive. Cheveldayoff knows what MB and the Habs need, Kane fits the bill. He will do everything to acquire something he NEEDS. Pleks for leadership(totally ok with that), Tinordi Young strong shut down D-man(reluctant, but you gotta give to receive), Bourque to free up a spot on LW (We'll take a bag of pucks pls) and maybe a pick, try and get something in return for the extra Bourque and pick.

After McDonagh doubt they are fierce to trade Tinordi. Another of Timmins' boys. I've heard reports Tinordi's work ethic is outstanding. While they are watching Beaulieu as he wasn't always in great shape last year. Why they sent him to development camp and not Tinordi. Kane, he's been in trouble several times before, I don't know if he can handle intense media pressure he will be under in Montreal. That's why I said other day Kane wasn't guy I would overpay for. He's young, speed and size but might not be best fit here in Montreal.
