Ken Holland has to take some of the blame for the lack of results. Babcock's material is not what it once was.

Nope, remember he hasn't won the cup since 2008, and as far as the gold medals and what not....I could have coached those teams to a gold medal.

Blashill is a darn good coach. Detroit is smart starting their conversations there. The guy keeps winning and demands the same type of commitment that guys like Babcock (before he sold his soul) demand.

You have to wonder whether Dave Hodge reads HabsRus ... "thumbs down to the coaching carousel" ... I honestly don't know if it's just a coincidence or if he (or his staff?) actually read blogs ... Cheers.

That NJ job is a death knell. Lamoriello's given way to Shero, but he's still there in the background. I don't see NJ recovering any time soon. Shero's history of scouting isn't good unless he has a high pick (which may come about).
I took at look at John Hyne's CV on hockey.db. He's taken the Wilkes-Barrie Penguins to the second round twice and the third round twice. His teams sure didn't look like they were filled with Hockey Hall of Fame candidates. There were very few recognizable names in the bunch, which either means his teams were made up of experienced AHL'rs or he just had lousy material to work with. I would guess that he's a defensive coach, since the scoring on his teams was nothing to write home about. He probably emphasized defense, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Perhaps if he had more talented players, the scoring would have been higher. Or not. The team he's inheriting is much the same as those minor league teams. No elite players and very much a defense oriented group.

Something still doesn't add up regarding Boucher. Unless he's a complete a-hole, it's a bit strange he hasn't landed another gig. The coaching profession is famously forgiving. There are retreads all over the place and just about EVERYBODY has been fired at some point. The guy is young, smart, worked his way up through the lower levels and had instant success in Tampa before things went off the rails. Something tells me there is either some kind of whisper campaign against the guy, our Boucher is extremely picky about the job he wants. But I would give him a look. Next year is a HUGE year for Therrien. Unless Bergevin injects some offense into the team, I can see the Habs slipping next year and 3 years is about the shelf-life for MT. Boucher for 2016/17?

I can see why Boucher would decline NJ. It seems like a no win situation for a while.

Dallas Eakins back in the AHL, as head coach of the Ducks' farm team. If they also land the Walrus as an assistant, then they sure are keeping a lot of safety nets around Bruce Boudreau.
