Panthers and Bruins make trade. Bruins send Reilly Smith and Savard's contract to Panthers for Jimmy Hayes. Savard has $4 million cap hit for two more years, but his actual salary is less than 600k. Old front loaded deal. Can anyone tell me what kind of team Boston is trying to build. I use the term 'build' loosely. It looks like they're going through a bargain bin and saying, "Oh this piece looks good" and "This one doesn't have too much rust on it" and "This one's cheap". They sign Rinaldo, who's a basket case: Belesky who's had one good year playing with Kesler (I think Maroon played with Getzlaf and Perry, but I could be wrong), Are they tanking next year? Smith is better than Hayes and Hamilton and Lucic are better than anyone they picked up. Ok, they have some draft choices next year and maybe that's the plan? Jeeze, no wonder Bruins fans are rioting. Their scouting had better be darned good, or there's going to be some backlash in B-town. Jacobs is saving money I think and that's probably the plan. |

Arizona gets a 1st rounder in the deal with Chicago AND they get their player back. But you can't say the Hawks didn't get some value out of the deal. Wasn't it 3 key goals, especially that one in OT? |

Williams signs for 2 years with Caps. Avg of $3.25 million. Lebrun and Dreger reporting that Habs were in on him, and Belesky.
