That's very interesting, BC ... the Expos were the victims of a lot of things back then ... I remember you and I talking specifically about Jeff Loria's part in dismantling the Expos, but point-of-no-return really started when the lockout was called ... the Expos lost Kenny Hill, John Wetteland and Marquis Grissom all within the following week ... that was their ace, their best reliever and an all-star CF, all gondi just like that ... I remember the media types all piling on ... Jim Rome, "... get that franchise outta there ... Montreal doesn't deserve a baseball team ...", but like so many other media types, he just pursued one part of the story and not the whole thing ... wouldn't mind seeing the Montreal Royals come back into existance ... but, I'm an Expos original for sure ... wouldn't mind seeing the Expos come back, but I think Loria owns the rights to the name, doesn't he? ... Cheers. The only media person I can think of that will give you a fair & balanced report of what went on with the Expos is Stephen Brunt. Bill "Spaceman" Lee starts talking about Garry Carter around the 23:35 mark, and the Expos fall around the 26:00 ... Bill was 10-4 with the Expos ...

I don't know how the trade deadline works ... teams, including Toronto, are still making trades and acquiring players ... Jose Reyes just cleared waivers, which means he can now be traded to any team ... here's the story ... Cheers.

Gogie' s turn to celebrate. I've been showing some restraint. I'll celebrate when the Yanks clinch.

After a tough series at home with the Yankees, they've rebounded well. Tulo is struggling at the plate. Revere lead the league in hits last year, and his bat is coming around. Combine that with his speed, and I'd seriously considering moving him from 9th in the order to 1st. Then bump Tulo down to a spot where he's more likely to get pitches to hit and some confidence back.
Revere Donaldson Bautista Encarnacion Tulowitzki (less likely to be a lead off man here) Martin/Colabello/Smoak/Navarro (some combination of them for 6 and 7) Pillar Goins

He had 2 hits today. He's still managed to get walks or HBP's so he's getting on base but he would be better in that 5th spot. It's pretty hopeful what they're doing with Tulo struggling at the plate.

It's pretty hopeful what they're doing with Tulo struggling at the plate. He'll likely come around, but imo he's been striking out too much. Not sure if he just got caught up in swingin for the fences. Revere in the lead off would also add speed to the top of the order. Small ball is more possible with him there.

Couldn't believe the way those bats were working yesterday ... they're primed for a run now ... watch for the Mets in the NL ...
Cheers.

Regarding Tulo - it's only the first inning when he hits lead off. After that it's a crap shoot on when he hits. Plus having him hit first give him the potential of an extra bat per game where if he is hitting 5th or 6th he might not of. Plus, Donaldson, joey Bats and Double E.E. are on fire right now, so no need to change things up.
Regarding yesterday - I was a little worried having Thole Goins and Smoak in the lineup. Not really hit for avg. players. Oh well it turned out okay!

Not really hit for avg. players. Oh well it turned out okay! While that's true, he's still that top of the order guy and they get the most at bats in a game typically. More speed and consistent obp would be good there. Getting him lower in the order takes pressure off and gives him a chance for some better pitches to hit. Yes, 2-4 are going well, but if Tulo is on base more, they're taking even more advantage of that hitting.

Couldn't believe the way those bats were working yesterday ... they're primed for a run now ... watch for the Mets in the NL ... Cheers. When you have enough confidence to leave your starter in after he gives up five in the first, things are going well. When you score more almost 40 runs in a 3 game series, things are going really well. It's not a blip either. They've scored 164 more runs than they've allowed. The best offense in the whole mlb and pitching that's in the top half.
