This photo appears earlier in the thread, but doesn't have the explanation.
When a National Geographic photographer visited a refugee camp along the Pakistan/Afghan border in 1984, he came across a striking pair of eyes. The poignant photo would go on to be seen by millions around the world and become of the most famous pictures of all time. But years later, the photographer decided to trace the woman down and returned to the same village. And after weeks of searching, he was finally led to the house of the woman after iris recognition technology confirmed her identity. Her name is Sharbat Gula, and when asked by the photographer, Steve McCurry, if her life since the photo had changed for the better, she admitted that it hadn't. "No," she said. "But life under the Taliban was better. At least there was peace and order."

If my high school teachers looked like that, I'd have never learned anything. Course I didn't anyway, so lose/lose. Sigh.

Dis, would you please hurry up and post the picture of ex-Premier Wynne resigning? I can hardly afford to live in this province any more with her green policies, which make me a little green-in-the-gills myself.

My golfing buddy asked me yesterday why Wynne is still in power ... pretty popular topic ... we have seniors who can't afford to live any more because of hydro rates ... now she wants to ban all natural gas in Ontario and refit homes to use electric heat ... asked Mrs Dis how she thought about solar panels or just packing up and relocating down south ... solar panels would be cheaper ... Cheers.

Cheers. heard a (conspiracy) theory: 1.2 million public employees are on the ever-expanding government teat, many who live in the 416/905 are, where if you win you win, forget about the rural areas. come election time everything is rosy with the government employees who make good money, get good raises, and will not have to pay into the pension scam plan (money diverted to regular spending -- you-know-who help us in Ontario in 40 years when the plan will be fully paying out (with nothing in t) -- double up on the deficit there! pretty soon those seniors will not be able to afford to buy the tuna that the Harris Conservatives said they could eat (and the Liberals mocked).
