Dickey handled it with class.
Basic sentiment: Of course, any competitor is going to want to stay in the game….but when you have a guy like Price coming in behind you, you put that aside. That's what's special about this team. It's not about individuals. The most important thing is, we're going back to Toronto for Game 5 after being down 0-2.
Gibbons said the Rangers' had shut down the Jays after the big early lead….and after what had happened in Houston with the Royals' comeback, once the momentum shifts, it's hard to get it back.
Buck Martinez agreed…and added that Gibbons bringing Price into the game was a "Let's stop any idea of a comeback right here" message to the Rangers. Dickey does have a tendency to give up the long ball when he goes deeper into a game.
Yeah, Price gave up 3 runs…but there was never the feeling of a rally.
Dickie pitched a solid 4-and-two-thirds. He and everybody else knows he was as responsible as anyone was for that W. All about the team right now.
The reporters certainly tried ad nauseam to get him to whine and complain about being taken out, though.
As far as the Canada's Team thing goes….well, they ARE the only Canadian-based MLB team. I think we'd all market the Jays like that if we were involved. Perhaps that "title" sticks in the craw only because the Leafs have been touting it for 20 years--as they've had nothing else to crow about for almost 50.

Dickey is all class. I'd have left him in to finish the 5th. It's not like it was a one run game. Price has a poor record against the Rangers, and I think that's why Gibbons used him in that situation. Keep him fresh (instead of skipping a start like in the regular season - which I hated). Give the ball to Stroman, who was arguably their best pitcher down the stretch. The pen will be rested for game 5, if they're needed. Then you can go with Price when the ALCS starts - which would likely be Friday.

Here we go again with the calls at the plate.
2nd inning. Runners on 1st and 2nd.
Tulo with ball four….but it's called a strike….and out. Replays showed it below the knees.
Would've been bases loaded, nobody out.
Instead, 1 out.
Martin flies out.
Pillar strikes out.
One call made a big difference in the 2nd.
Now Choo homers to make it 2-0 Rangers in the 3rd.
They've GOT to get to Hamels…with NO help from the umpiring.
EDIT
Bottom 3rd. Goins argues a third-strike call, but it was a strike.
That's what the bad call on Tulo will do....but the Jays can't let it get to them.

What a catch by Pillar.
And kudos to Beltre on the Goins bunt. If he recently had back spasms, that was something else...and they should've recurred after the throw to first.

... MLB has mandated they close the roof too. Umm okay. Conspiracy much? Yeah...only 2 degrees cooler than Games 1 and 2. Nice play by Goins to prevent a run. Nail-biter.

EE ties it up!
What a blast!
Hamels has been a pitching a beauty, though.....and the big bats had been swinging under them until that one.
Up to the bullpen, now.

Why Gibbons? 1 more inning of Stroman would of been okay.

Oh no....that's gonna be a run.
Martin throws back to the pitcher and it deflects off Choo's bat.
Odor scores.
Of all the flukes. Choo was getting ready to hit again and had extended his arm with the bat into the throwing lane and left it there for a couple of seconds. Martin hit it.
Not reviewable.

Now they ARE reviewing it.
Choo did stick his bat into the play.
What a big review this is.
New York will let it go.

Get it together, boys. You don't want to lose on a fluke like that. Error to Martin.
Some of the fans have to smarten up....looking just a bit classless, here.

I'm fine with the rule...It's when the ump throws his arms in the air. To me that signals a stoppage in play. That was done before the run crossed.

The catcher has to always be aware. But the ump reconsidered when the Rangers' manager told him what happened....and to confer about the rule.

Showing faith in Hamels after two errors has Jays on 1st and 2nd...0 outs.

Another drop at third! Bases loaded! Top of the order coming up.
Not Hamel's fault....three errors.

With Pompey and Revere\s speed, would you have had him suicide squeeze it?

I don't think so...not with everything on the line now....and not with Donaldson up.

Now Dyson walks up to Tulo after the third out....and gives him a pat on the butt.
This game's had pretty much everything.
