Wouldn't want to have a coach in the "A" that threatens the job security of the coach in the "N". I wonder if the plan wasn't to try to develop an eventual future coach in the AHL, given how few candidates fit the requirements for our market. If that was the plan, it isn't working; Lefebvre won't even be a candidate to be our next coach unless he seriously turns things around. We should be dumping Lefebvre and getting ourselves the best of the QMJHL or some NHL assistant looking for a way to become a head coach, and give them a chance at getting into head-coach contention in the medium term. I don't know what the plan was. Maybe they were grooming an NHL assistant. 4 plus seasons in, it's a fail. Sylvain may not have always been blessed with a great line up, but people have done more with less. He's actually got a pretty good club this year, and it's same ole same ole. They'll have an even harder time getting away with this next year. I'd like to see more reporters hold them to task over this.

Our prospects are getting an education in snapping defeat from the jaws of victory. Outshot again today but not by as wide a margin as yesterday. Yann Denis in goal.

He has consistently been amongst the top forwards in the farm for the last few years, but has really only had his one three game call up where he bounced from line to line a fair bit. Two assists in those three games though. He will require waivers next season, so you have to think he should get a longer audition later this year so the team can properly assess what to do with him. Like you say, he has the hockey smarts.

Make it 5 out of 6 points for the Caps this weekend on the road. Guess good goaltending does help. Lindgren made 23 saves in today's 5-2 win. Goals from Andrighetto, Farnham, Hanley, Gregoire and our lad Hudon. McC was back from suspension and had two apples, and Scherbak had one. Ghetto and Hudon also had helpers for a two point night.
Guess Sly will last through the month now!

Great hands and positioning by Hudon for a nifty little backhander on the PP this weekend. LeFail was playing him ES on the third line with McCarron back from suspension yesterday.

Andrighetto, with 6 points in his three games over the weekend, has been named the AHL player of the week. Guess he is getting the message that had him assigned to the AHL in the first place. Hudon and Terry had great weeks too, with 5 points in those same games. theahl.com/andrighetto-player-of-the-week-oct23

Fucale is the odd goalie out in St. John's and has been assigned to Brampton in the ECHL. Should get a lot more starts this way.

With Plekanec off to slow start wondering if possible to trade him at deadline for a draft pick and promote Hudon? What offense Pleks is supplying Hudon should be able to do.

IceCaps won their home opener against Rochester last night 5-3. Lindgren with the win. The Amerks bounce back with a 5-2 victory tonight against Danis. Interesting that Scherbak had a goal in both games. I am really hoping for him to up his game to a new level this year after that injury plagued rookie pro season. Time to show he wants to play in the NHL.

If Hudon is a current level Pleks, then that's not much of a compliment. We need a true top 2c. If Hudon wont get there then we need to package him and Pleks.

Hudon is a talented player but he's no Bobby Smith. McCarron is not either. With Sly at the helm, I doubt they develop into that type of player. And that's the type of player the Habs need on the second line at centre, imo.

It would be nice if they could develop into any kind of player.

IceCaps play host to Utica tonight. The injuries are starting for the AHL team as both Swedish forwards missed time last weekend and will be missing again tonight. They are both key contributors on the PK and take lots of good ES ice time as well. Not sure what ails Captain Friberg, but DLR is out with a broken finger. The IceCaps do have the added spark of Daniel Carr being assigned to the team for now as I am sure he will be glad to get some ice time action in with the club.
I expect the Caps could lose a player or two to the Habs fairly soon though as the Habs are playing with no healthy scratches right now. Redmond is expected back early December and Sergachev of course is back in the OHL. I would expect the team would call up one defenseman and one forward, although they technically could bring a second forward up too. Barberio and Carr seem the most likely choices at this point.

It would be nice if they could develop into any kind of player. If Hudon could just get a wee bit quicker. It made a huge difference in Gallagher's game when he was able to find an extra step from his pace in juniors.

IceCaps let a 3-1 lead slip away in the third, but win it in OT. Lindgren with the win. Scherbak (2), Carr and Barberio (OT) with the goals. That is four goals in the last three games for Scherbak. Tonight's two were wicked snipes. Have a boo.... m.youtube.com/watch?v=RVGTHemIA3U

Another win for Lindgren to keep his winning streak going. Scherbak scored for the fourth straight game and had a nifty feed on one of Hudon's two goals, Carr went 1+1, and Farnham and Matteau (EN) rounded out the scoring. Caps win 6-3 over the Comets (Baby Nucks). Some nice goals in this one. m.youtube.com/watch?v=drA_91HDhYQ

They must see something in Hudon that either they don't like or he's just one of those career AHLers. But I see a guy who consistently produces, has a great work ethic, and can play a 200 foot game. He always seems to get passed over...

IceCaps fall to the Springfield Falcons 3-1. Perhaps if Carr had been there to score 3 goals, they could have won. Outshot by a fair margin 33-21 but even Lindgren couldn't pull it off tonight. Team falls to .500 theahl.com/game-summary?game_id=1016062

Scherbak opens the scoring tonight, his eighth of the season. He is tied with Hudon for second in league scoring. Good bounce back year for him so far after that injury riddled season last year.
