A nice assist from Poehling tonight, as he created the breakout and transition play.

I have been keeping an eye on the Moose Jaw Regina game this afternoon. Fleury assisted on Pats first goal to tie it up and he scored the go ahead goal in the third on a really smart wrister from the point. I like him, it seems like that while he may not be elite in any one area he is very good in all facets. I have not noticed Brook much to be honest, though he is skilled and rangy and covers a lot of ice easily without blazing speed. Regina seemed to take Brook off his game, he got dinged on one play and almost dropped the gloves late in the third.

Fleury ended up with a goal and two assists, to lead all scorers today, and was named the game’s first star. Really solid effort by him. Brook was pretty average. That was the least impactful game of his that I have seen.

Brooks’ play or at least results, have dropped off since the Warriors picked up Clague. Much of his PP time was given to Clague and (a really dumb move) they took away Josh’s ‘A’ and gave it to Clague. I can’t believe that! What idiocy. The team’ winning percentage has dropped since the acquisition so I think it’s caused some chemistry issues.

It has actually messed up all their defensive pairings five on five too, as they actually looked a lot less organized in the back end since bringing in Clague. Their winning percentage has gone down too after dominating the WHL for most of the season to that point. I hope they get it sorted by the playoffs, as they are a fun team when they are all clicking. I would like to see Josh get a long playoff run out of this season too after missing a good chunk to start the season because of that foot injury.

Brook with two assists in today’s 6-3 win over Brandon. Good to see him get back on the scoresheet and driving some offence.

We don't talk too much or see too many of Tyszka's highlights, so here is his goal from last night.

Not really sure where this belongs, if it all. Seeing as he was in the Habs system for a time, maybe here. Eric Landry is the head coach of the Olympique. He took over part way into the season and the guys on Sportsnet this aft/eve were raving about what he's done to turn things around. Someone to look out for as a future coach when we finally lose the current regime.

Evans with a goal and two helpers. A five point weekend. He is heating up at a good time.
Primeau with a shutout and first star tonight. He gave up no goals this weekend. Silliness for a seventh round NCAA freshman.

Never can tell with goalies, but Primeau definitely is trending towards a steal of a pick. Not many last minute 7th round picks go to college and have a freshman season like he has.

Here is one of Ikonen's three assists in his last game. He is the guy skirting along the right wing in this video and he shows lots of positive attributes in this play.

Nice moves and good set-up It's hard from that clip to get a feel for his speed which I gather was one of the factors his coach felt he had to improve upon. I'd guess from the added ice time he's getting, and his increased points totals lately, that he has indeed improved his skating.

Our future checking centre. Tons of confidence and he does it at top speed. I also love that they were two clutch goals.

Pretty good weekend for Poehling. He added another big goal on Saturday night. His team was down 2-0 against North Dakota on the road at the Ralph, and his third period PP goal started the comeback. Game finished 2-2.

Fleury with a goal and an assist against the Oil Kings yesterday afternoon. He continues to build on a really solid season. Me like.
I still have not figured out what we fully have with Walford. Of our four WHL guys we drafted last year, he does no single thing better than any of the others. But at the same time he does not have any horrible attributes to his game that cause you big concern. He has settled in and anchors Victoria’s second pairing, behind its two vets on D. Next season I expect he will take on a bigger role, and it will be important to see what he does with that.
Here is his first goal of the season from Saturday. He is now tied with his career best 30 points, so his next point will set new marks for him.

There's definitely a lot to like about the 17 draft at this point.

Poehling named the NCHC (his NCAA conference) offensive player of the week as they wrapped up the last regular season play. Note also that his teammate Jimmy Schuldt was named conference defenseman of the week for the fourth time. I am hoping the Habs sign him as a free agent after having to camp last year. Good offensive LHD. www.nchchockey.com/news_article/show/894020
