Question: What is the secret to soft hands? Latendresse, "Limp wrists" Bonk, "I have no idea" Ribeiro, "Weak arms" Koivu, "Jergins lotion" Dagenais, "Weak ankles" Souray, "Baywatch babes" Theodore: Five-hole.

I think playing for Sutter will be a good experience for Latendresse. Sutter is a no-nonsense guy and that is the style of game that Gui will have to play in order to be successful. Hopefully Sutter can help him add a little extra edge to his game.

I had the opportunity to see Latendresse last night as Drummondville was in town to play the Mooseheads. To put it bluntly I was not impressed, he played soft for a big guy and for the most part was invisible. This guy has a lot of improving to do before he's going to play in the show.

Apparently Latendresse won the award for offensive player of the week in the Q... unfortunately it was Olivier and not Guillaume.

That's gotta hurt! Good to see he's on the upswing . . . getting ready for the big step next year.

That's gotta hurt! Good to see he's on the upswing . . . getting ready for the big step next year. This kid's the "real deal"...I'm tellin' ya...I called it with Bossy (we took Napier)....I called it with Denis Savard (Wickenheiser) and I'll put it on-the-line with Gui. The "Price-pick" annoyed me to no-end, but grabbing this guy and seeing what he was capable of doing as an 18 yr-old in his FIRST pro camp gave me shivers. I'm convinced we have our next "home-town star". CO

Caused a mighty uproar with that goal, which could end up seeing players from Drakkar suspended. They believe that the goal was scored after time ran out, and things went to hell. I talked to someone at the game and they said it was nuts. First the goalie, Dupont ('06) freaked out banging his stick on the boards and even made a throat slashing gesture towards the ref. Then the coach was throwing water bottles and a sweater on the ice, and I believe it was the captain but it might have been another player had to be physcially restrained from attacking the ref.

Time at the World Junior's did him good, even if he didn't register any points (or did he?).

Time at the World Junior's did him good, even if he didn't register any points (or did he?). I don't think that he got any points. As far as I remember, he was benched for most of the tournament.

16th overall in the league in goals. what is more impressive is that he is probably close to or in the top 5 in goals per game played. it hurt his stats going to the world juniors to not play. but 42 goals in 48 games is not too shabby.

After a somewhat disappointing start, he's back to being a top level prospect again. Yay.

Bloom comes off Canadiens' new FlowerProspect Guillaume Latendresse went from hearing 'Guy! Guy! Guy!' chants . . . to QMJHL obscurity STEPHANIE MYLES The Gazette Saturday, April 01, 2006Guillaume Latendresse can hardly believe the players wearing the bleu-blanc-rouge were once his linemates.
"I've fallen off my cloud, so they're once again the big stars they were last year before I came to camp," Latendresse said. "Sometimes it's like I have to pinch myself a little and remember that I spent a month with them. They were my buddies."
Last summer, Latendresse was the flavour of the month. He got more face time than the prime minister. He went from the relative anonymity of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Drummondville Voltigeurs to the front page of the Journal de Montreal in a heartbeat.
They were chanting, "Guy! Guy! Guy!" in the stands at the Bell Centre during the four exhibition games he played with the Canadiens.
---
Just as quickly, Latendresse was the controversial final cut at training camp. And it was back to reality.
He was the tiniest minnow in the biggest hockey pond of them all who suddenly became the 100-pound barracuda. Then, just as quickly, the barracuda was moved back to the tiny fish tank - and he could barely breathe.
---
"When I got back, I allowed myself to be attacked a little bit because, like it or not, my morale was a little low," Latendresse said. "It's like you're more vulnerable. It hit me, and after that, things didn't go so well.
"People tend to forget I'm only 18. Emotionally, maybe I wasn't ready to live through all those things."
Latendresse figures the lull was about 10 games. When he returned from the world juniors, there was another 10-game lull.
"I was expecting more ice time there, of course," he said. "But when I got there, mentally I was tired, I wasn't really ready. I probably needed a break, and it showed in the way I played. Coach Sutter noticed it."
Latendresse played only 51 regular-season games for the Voltigeurs and still put up 43 goals and 83 points. Only two players had a better goals-per-game average in the league.
---
Latendresse, who injured his thigh and knee slamming into an open gate late in Game 1, didn't play in the third period Wednesday after experiencing headaches between the second and third periods, the result of a minor concussion.full article

There are parts in that article that makes me think that Lat's needs big time attitude adjustmant and there are parts that make me believe that he learned his lesson and we are going to have a monster on our hands.
In the end, players like Lat's and Hossa's go only as far as their attitude allows them.

We'll find out soon enough next training camp. The team needs a player like Latendresse sooner rather than later. I don't see anything wrong with 43 goals and 83 points in 51 games.

Offhand, looks to me like he's an 18 year old who's growing up.
We ask our hockey players to grow up awfully quickly, he doesn't seem to be doing such a terrible job at it IMO. He doesn't sound like an arrogant kid in the article, he looks like someone who's learning from his mistakes and getting to know who he is and what his limits are.

wow, i'd given up on them in that series, believe it was 3-1, that's great they're going to a game 7. Although i noticed that lats line was a big minus after 4 games.
