Quarter Final Wednesday coming up, featuring our seven prospects. At least one goes home with CAN and FIN playing an elimination game head to head. I expect six of them should make it to the Semi Final stage, but we will wait and see.
SUI vs SWE (Olofsson) 4:00pm ET TSN3/5
FIN (Ylönen) vs CAN (Brook, Suzuki) 6:30pm ET TSN
CZE vs USA (Poehling, Primeau) 8:00pm ET TSN2
SLO vs RUS (Romanov) 10:30pm ET TSN3/5

Watching Can/Rus. I’m disappointed Hunter isn’t using Brook more. He’s been very strong. Bouchard and Dobson OTOH have left me wanting. Brook’s transition game has been excellent. He’s impressing me a lot AFAIC, Hunter is an old school coach. He's like so many we've had before Ducharme. He's stuck in his ways and in his lines.

Funny thing is that Hunter is Brooks' coach in Moose Jaw. Maybe that's playing into it as he doesn't want to be seen as showing any favouritism, but Brook has been really good and Bouchard not so much. Nothing wrong with giving Josh a shot at that PP unit. He's been getting shots through.

He's been getting shots through. Goes beyond that for me. Aside from Entwhistle, he's done very little to juggle the top six, when it's clear they're not really functioning well. Despite the score, that game against Denmark was a prime opportunity to get everyone going. Mix things up in the third. See if you can get some of the guys that have yet to score on the sheet.

It is great to see Poehling and Romanov exceeding the expectations that most people had for them in this tournament as they play larger than anticipated roles for their teams.
The Habs Canadian boys are playing good, though as has been discussed they have less prominent roles for clear and unclear reasons.

Primeau gets the nod for the next game. This likely means the starter's job is his to lose as the team heads to the single elimination playoffs now. A loss means the team goes home. A win with a poor goaltending performance means Keyser could very well get back in.

With the Swedish game first up today in an hour, this is good news for the Tre Kronor. It also means Olofsson gets to play forward again!

What's with Hunter, even the guys on TSN are saying the 2nd pp unit is better than the 1st, but each pp he starts with the so called #1 unit.

Man. Sweden choked again. Lost 2-0 to Suisse. This Swedish Team has scoring issues. I was quite shocked they won their pool. The Swiss play a notorious tight defensive team game. It is still quite the upset.

Don’t like the panic threshold on Canada. Brook has been great and Smith pretty good too but other guys are just clearing wildly and turning it over. Cool down guys.

Bouchard is going to be on the ice for a goal against. Just sayin’.
To seventeen’s point, this team is not the toughest mentally. They admitted that the hype and pressure of the New Year’s Eve game got to them. Well, it does not get any easier. Suck it up boys, and just play your game.

Anyone else disappointed with team Canada? Just seems something is missing with this team. It's been a few years since a McDavid or a Crosby, or heck even a Toews, Price or Doughty has been produced by Canada. Time to get worried?

Finns winning more puck battles and are the quicker team. We also have a lot of guys playing very soft.
