Swiped the following two posts from FLR. Excellent statistical updates of the youngsters.
*
From: Terry Date: Sunday, October 22, 2006 11:04 AM
Carey Price got his first shutout last night for Tri City, and is now 6-1 with a 2.09 G.A.A and .931 save %.
Ben Maxwell leads the WHL with 24 points after 13 games.
And apparently Ryan White is picking things up after a slow start with Calgary.
Good signs coming out west.

The same old format from previous seasons... Maxwell was already praised by Terry earlier today. He sure is having one hell of a start for the season. Mathieu Carle in Acadie-Bathurst is making nice progress too.
All in all not that many huge performers then last season now, mainly because so many got a pro-contract from Habs during the summer. Also some early injuries and NCAA season has barely started. J.T Wyman might be one to break through this year, he'll be one of Darthmouths key forwards at least.
OHL:
Sergei Kostitsyn 6'0, 190, L, 1987-03-20 London Knights 10 games 3+9=12 +1 22min 05-06: 1.24 ppg 06-07: 1.20 ppg
- 5th in team in points, he's behind team leaders in points a whopping 19 points already...
WHL:
Ben Maxwell 6'0, 175, R, 1988-03-30 Kootenay Ice 12 games 8+16=24 +10 16min 04-05: 0.26 ppg 05-06: 0.87 ppg 06-07: 2.00 ppg
- leads the WHL in points, awesome start to the season - stats wise, _this_ is the kind of development you want to see from your offensive prospects...
Ryan White 6'0, 200, R, 1988-03-17 Calgary Hitmen 11 games 5+7=12 +3 12min 04-05: 0.37 ppg 05-06: 0.74 ppg 06-07: 1.09 ppg
- 2nd in team in points and in goals
Cameron Cepek 6'2, 181, R, 1988-01-12 Portland Winter Hawks 5 games 1+0=1 -5 20min 04-05: 0.06 ppg 05-06: 0.48 ppg 06-07: 0.20 ppg
- has missed past three games due to injury (broken jaw apparently)
Carey Price 6'2 175, L, 1987-08-16 Tri-City Americans 6 games 2.56 GAA .921 SPCT (5-1-0) 03-04: 2.38 GAA .915 SPCT (8-9-1) 04-05: 2.34 GAA .920 SPCT (24-27-4) 05-06: 2.87 GAA .906 SPCT (21-25-3)
QMJHL:
Mathieu Carle 6'0, 200, R, 1987-09-30 Acadie-Bathurst Titan 8 games 2+12=14 +5 10min 03-04: 0.39 ppg 04-05: 0.48 ppg 05-06: 1.03 ppg 06-07: 1.75 ppg
- 7th in league in points (dmen)
Juraj Mikus 6'1, 186, R, 1987-02-22 Chicoutimi Saquenéens 14 games 3+4=7 -4 10min
- seems to be having trouble in getting comfortable with north-american style hockey, then again... he hasn't been going anywhere stats wise in past couple of seasons - hopefully he'll get it going, this is supposed to be an offensive player after all.
NCAA:
Philippe Paquet 6'2, 209, L, 1987-03-12 Clarkson Univ. 5 games 1+2=3 10min 05-06: 0.19 ppg 06-07: 0.60 ppg
- 2nd in dmen points in Clarkson
J.T Wyman 6'2, 212, L, 1986-02-27 Darthmouth Univ. Season hasn't started yet 04-05: 0.33 ppg 05-06: 0.71 ppg 06-07:
David Fischer 6'3, 185, 1988-02-19 Minnesota Univ. 2 games 0+1=1 +-0 2min
Europe
Aleksei Emelin 6'0, 192, L, 1986-04-12 Lada Togliatti RSL 3 games 0+1=1 6min 04-05: 0.08 ppg 05-06: 0.28 ppg 06-07:
- his team has played six games so Emelin most likely injured at the moment
Konstantin Korneev 5'11 183 1984-06-05 ZSKA RSL 7 games 2+2=4 4min 02-03: 0.20 ppg 03-04: 0.11 ppg 04-05: 0.13 ppg 05-06: 0.13 ppg 06-07: 0.57 ppg
- Korneev seems to be finally showing that offensive ability he has
Pavel Valentenko 6'2, 200, 1987-10-20 Neftehimik RSL 7 games 0+0=0 10min
- rookie season in RSL
Oskari Korpikari 6'2, 205, L, 1984-04-05 Kärpät FHL 12 games 0+1=1 +4 20min 02-03: 0.04 ppg 03-04: 0.03 ppg 04-05: 0.00 ppg 05-06: 0.04 ppg 06-07: 0.08 ppg
- Fifth season already in top Finnish league and Korpikari still hasn't been able to lift his game above third pair duty... I haven't seen a player in more desperate need for change of scenery. Getting to a new team where there's even a remote possibility for him to get the icetime that is needed for development might salvage this career. - For Habs though, "I'd say this one is busted".

Personally, I would add Korneev to that "busted for Habs" list you have. He still hasn't shown the slightest interest in coming over. He hasn't ever shown up to 1 training since being drafted. Nor have the Habs shown much interest in bringing him over. I think that is very telling, since defense is an organization wide deficiency.

The Russian stats are way off. Emelin has played a lot more then 3 games, 14 or so by now since he missed a couple games due to the suspension from last years playoffs. It's been a slow start to the year for him offensively, but the site I use, metallurg.ru is under going some changes so they haven't updated stats in a month or so. I have to go off other sites so it's really hard to get corrected stats for now.
Also Valentenko I beleive has 18 games in, 0 points, but very impressed he has stuck around in Neftekhimik since the 19 year old only played 2 games in the RSL last year. I guess this is why he didn't come over this summer, cause Timmins said they were hoping he would play in the CHL this year, but he opted to stay with Neftekhimik, hope this doens't mean we won't ever see him like some of our other Russian picks.
Korneev has gotten off to a good start, 6 pts in 17 games, he should easily reach career highs. Plus since he left the top team in the RSL, AK Bars and signed with CSKA, he is now playing on the top pairing this season which he did at times when he was 18 with Krylia before they got regulated to the RHL. I don't expect we'll see Korneev ever, but it would be cool if he at least came to camp.
Had hoped that Korpikari would get more ice time this year, we'll see what management does with him this summer, cause he and Heino have to be signed or we lose their rights. I wouldn't be shocked if we don't see either one, although I hope to see both.

I think Emelin has 2 assists in 3 games so far. he's also -1 for the season. at least that's how I read it on Lada's official site.

Oskari Korpikari has 3 assists in 20 games so far. he is also +4 and has 26 PIM. his team, Karpat Oulu, is leading the league.
for HFLA, Dagenais has 1g and 3a in 8 games. he is also -1 on a strong Jokerit team (3rd place)

An update swiped from FLR:
Prospect stats update nro 2 includes the return of Sergei Kostitsyn. Also Ryan White in WHL has been climbing in scoring stats quite a bit lately.
Mathieu Carle is still leading QMJHL dmen in points while Aleksei Jemelin has lost his offence almost completely for some reason.
OHL:
Sergei Kostitsyn 6'0, 190, L, 1987-03-20 London Knights 28 games 16+28=44 +11 34min 05-06: 1.24 ppg 06-07: 1.57 ppg
- In last stats update, Sergei had only 3 goals and 12 points in 10 games. 18 games later he has 16 goals and 44 points... Now THAT's more like it. - 3rd in team in points thanks to that slow start - 4th in team in goals
WHL:
Ben Maxwell 6'0, 175, R, 1988-03-30 Kootenay Ice 31 games 13+27=40 +10 32min 04-05: 0.26 ppg 05-06: 0.87 ppg 06-07: 1.29 ppg
- dropped to 5th place in points in league, nine points behind the leader - points-per-game dropped from 2.00 to 1.29 - leads Kootenay in points
Ryan White 6'0, 200, R, 1988-03-17 Calgary Hitmen 32 games 12+27=39 +15 30min 04-05: 0.37 ppg 05-06: 0.74 ppg 06-07: 1.22 ppg
- picked up the pace since first update - leads the team in points and +/- - climbed already to 7th place in league in points
Cameron Cepek 6'2, 181, R, 1988-01-12 Portland Winter Hawks 6 games 1+0=1 -4 20min 04-05: 0.06 ppg 05-06: 0.48 ppg 06-07: 0.17 ppg
- Injured after five games (broken jaw apparently) and ended up missing 20 games - returned to lineup last saturday
Carey Price 6'2 175, L, 1987-08-16 Tri-City Americans 19 games 2.69 GAA .907 SPCT (12-6-0) 03-04: 2.38 GAA .915 SPCT (8-9-1) 04-05: 2.34 GAA .920 SPCT (24-27-4) 05-06: 2.87 GAA .906 SPCT (21-25-3)
- While his stats yet again are not quite as good as they were in his first two seasons, he's at least getting the wins now
QMJHL:
Mathieu Carle 6'0, 200, R, 1987-09-30 Acadie-Bathurst Titan 28 games 8+29=37 +14 42min 03-04: 0.39 ppg 04-05: 0.48 ppg 05-06: 1.03 ppg 06-07: 1.32 ppg
- Leads the QMJHL defencemen in points
Juraj Mikus 6'1, 186, R, 1987-02-22 Chicoutimi Saquenéens 32 games 11+20=31 +1 28min
- 3rd in team in points, 5th in goals - finally showing some offence after a slow start, with 24 points in last 18 games.
NCAA:
Philippe Paquet 6'2, 209, L, 1987-03-12 Clarkson Univ. 15 games 1+2=3 79min 05-06: 0.19 ppg 06-07: 0.60 ppg
- No points in last 10 games, but he does seem to be getting the penalty minutes... - Leads Clarkson Golden Knights in PIM... hell, might even lead the league.
J.T Wyman 6'2, 212, L, 1986-02-27 Darthmouth Univ. 10 games 1+4=5 10min 04-05: 0.33 ppg 05-06: 0.71 ppg 06-07: 0.50 ppg
- Well, not at all what has been expected from him being a third year player in Darthmouth - Isn't delivering the offence, stats declining from last season
David Fischer 6'3, 185, 1988-02-19 Minnesota Univ. 15 games 0+3=3 +-0 10min
- I don't know what kind of role he plays in Minnesota, but he for sure isn't bringing much offence. - 5th in dman points in team, weakest in +/- (+/- 0 though)
Europe:
Aleksei Emelin 6'0, 192, L, 1986-04-12 Lada Togliatti RSL 23 games 0+3=3 -5 38min 04-05: 0.08 ppg 05-06: 0.28 ppg 06-07: 0.08 ppg
- Emelin has lost his offensive game totally compared to last season
Konstantin Korneev 5'11 183 1984-06-05 ZSKA RSL 29 games 3+9=12 +2 24min 02-03: 0.20 ppg 03-04: 0.11 ppg 04-05: 0.13 ppg 05-06: 0.13 ppg 06-07: 0.41 ppg
- 2nd in team in dmen points
Pavel Valentenko 6'2, 200, 1987-10-20 Neftehimik RSL 29 games 0+0=0 -1 44min
- rookie season in RSL, not getting the points put seems to be getting the penalty minutes (3rd in team) - main thing with Valentenko is that he's a regular in Russian Superleague at the age of 19.
Christian Heino-Lindberg 6-0, 180, R, 1985-01-29 Färjestad 6 games 2.31 GAA .907 SPCT
- Playing as backup in top swedish league team Färjestad
Oskari Korpikari 6'2, 205, L, 1984-04-05 Kärpät FHL 23 games 0+3=3 +4 28min 02-03: 0.04 ppg 03-04: 0.03 ppg 04-05: 0.00 ppg 05-06: 0.04 ppg 06-07: 0.17 ppg

from An emotional night in Sweden’s 'Heart of Hockey' article on nhl.com, a few notes on Chris Heino-Lindberg: In goal for FBK, veteran Daniel Henriksson is the incumbent starter from last year’s championship, but 21-year-old Christopher Heino-Lindberg (a Montreal Canadiens draftee in 2003) has opened eyes in his second Elitserien season. Heino-Lindberg, incidentally, is a product of the Hammarby IF junior program, the same team that once produced Vezina Trophy winning goaltender Pelle Lindbergh.
----
Only the spectacular goaltending of Heino-Lindberg, who makes 44 saves on the night and no chance on the three goals scored against him, keeps Färjestad close.
----
Modo continued to press the attack for the remainder of the period, but Heino-Lindberg made big stops on Svartvadet and Pettersson, among others. Shots in the second period were 16 to 5 in Modo’s favor.just to mention that Heino-Lindberg played in a very important away game between 2nd and 3rd-placed teams. I don't know if FBK's no.1 goalie was injured or not, but nevertheless, it looks like he played great. also, from hockey's future article, here is a little part about Alexei Emelin: a fast skater, Kondratiev still has trouble recovering from some of his defensive lapses in the neutral zone. On the national team he consistently skates with his HC Lada defensive partner Alexei Emelin, who in his own right is a promising young defenseman. But the two at times appear to be Russia’s weakest defensive pairing as the communication between the two players tends to collapse.
Emelin is known for his physical and defensively reliable play. As a result, this ‘86-born defenseman is one of the youngest members of Russia’s senior national team. His performance has been more uneven than that of Kiril Koltsov or Ilya Nikulin, as he has enjoyed games where he was a physical threat and ruled the defensive zone, but had other games where he struggled to keep control of the crease. Offensively, Emelin has not participated very much, instead backing up the more offensive-minded Kondratiev. Both defensemen will likely skate for Russia at the World Championships, either on the fourth defensive pairing or in separate pairings.R.

Sergei Kostitsyn has been lighting it up since the WJC. His confidence must be very high. Three points in one game and 5 in the next, as well as 1st star. Duh. Get in on all five of yoru team's goals and not get first star? Not likely. He's on a good line with SamGagner and Patrick Kane of the US, but he's holding his own and more.

The thing that was overlooked in the article is that J T Wyman was moved to defense after several injuries hit Dartmouth. The coaches said he did such a good job that went some of the defensemen started to return, they kept Wyman on defense and when fully healthy, even would switch him from defense to foward during the game, getting shifts on both sides. I beleive he's now back on the wing full time but I haven't seen Dartmouth play in a couple weeks.

Carey Price with another strong outing (3rd star) against Prince George in a 4-2 win for Tri City. Ben Maxwell still injured with Kootenay. Mathieu Carle got traded while I was in the twilight zone sometime this month, to Rouyn Noranda, (Reggie's home town). He's second in defense scoring in the Q at over 1 per game.

It might be a question of work ethic. My concern about Maxwell is that he might be believing his own press and doesn't feel the need to turn it on every night. I can't say that he was outstanding in any of the games I saw him play. The skills are there, though, no doubt about it. I'm curious to see how he plays when he returns from injury.

i saw the habs whl scout at the giants game last night, one of a few i'm guessing. i was going to ask him if he still likes maxwell more than milan. lucic with 2 fights and 2 assists last night. he's a real gamer and real hard worker/team guy.
he's exactly the type of player our team needs, can fight, hit, score, works hard, good with the puck and in the corners.

Knights storm back for victory

... As for the Knights, Sergei Kostitsyn led the charge back with a goal and five assists. The slick Belarussian had an answer as to why the game changed so quickly. ...
... "We weren't ready in the first period," Kostitsyn said. "We skated harder in the second."
Which was when Kostitsyn came alive. He wanted the puck whenever he was on the ice.
"I want the puck every night," he said. "I need my own puck."...

I had to chuckle at this one. I'm following Juraj Mikus a bit more, as he's scoring more consistently for Chicoutimi. They beat Gatineau today 5-3...Mikus had 3 points. The game was in Gatineau and the 3 stars were all Gatineau players, who accumulated one goal between them. Homerism strikes again . www.lhjmq.qc.ca/lang_en/index.php?page=342374&id_partie=5473

Mikus did have a solid WJC after a huge disappointment last year, where he was relegated to essentially water boy at best with little ice time. Good to see him adjust to the Q after a few years in the mens league back home. Next year will be interesting to see if he can crack the Dogs' lineup or else end up in the ECHL. I would expect Kosty and Grabs to be NHL bound, with Kosty junior, Aubin, Urquhart and Mikus all making a case to stick in the Hammer.

He scored the tying goal tonight with two to go, only to see his team lose in the next minute. Too bad, as his team only plays for third place in the conference now and the winning teams bid for their conference and a chance at the Frozen Four. Wonder if the Habs see enough to lure him out of NCAA one year early, or will let him finish up next season. We really are not lacking for good forwards in the system right now.

I believe he said wanted to finish his 4 years but I also wonder if the Habs offered him a contract would he make the jump a year early. He's a big boy that skates well with good speed and a decent shot. I look forward to seeing him in Hamilton if not next year then the following year. He looks like he's bulked up this year, I wouldn't be surprised if he's closer to 6'2 225 by the time he turns pro since he's got to be near that size already, maybe 6'2 215 right now.

Juraj Mikus finishes the regular season with Chicoutimi with a bang...three goals and an assist in a losing cause. Mathieu Carle finishes up as the third highest scoring defenseman in the Q. Both are looking to be signed this summer, and could be Hamilton/Cincy bound. For now, their focus is the start of their playoffs.

Ben Maxwell was indeed back from injury last night in the Calg-Kootenay game, but I am sure there is a lot of rink rust after not playing since early January.
Pacquet's team lost 1-0 in OT, so his season is done.
Lacasse got the win last night, and Kosty had two helpers in a 6-3 win. Mikus had no points in a loss. The WHL updates were posted by someone else on another thread.
Seventeen, I too would like to send our stealth unit over to Russia, scoop some passports, and whisk those two youngsters over the pond a la Malkin. The continuing saga of the NHL-IIHF-RHF transfer agreement does cast a dark cloud over prospects playing in Russia right now. I know the Habs during the Savard era had a good working relationship and were able to get Perezhogin and Kosty over without burning any bridges.
