I don't read the Gazette a lot but Cowan doesn't seem like a rumor monger to me. How can he make such a definitive statement without some solid info? Do you really want me to answer that? I think even Assgauardiens species know how much i despise media and their spurters.

I do not know, but my guess is that Cowan is simply connecting the dots rather than him having heard anything from a source within the organization.
Now Domi changed agents. Pat Brisson is out. Alan Walsh is probably in. Yet I am not sure this really has much of a material effect on anything. If Domi is sour about playing wing and sour about coming to work every day seeing Claude Julien, then he is destined to be traded regarding of who his agent is.

No one is coming knocking for Domi. He was a bust this past year and is not really known as having a great attitude - in fact often quite self-absorbed and me first with selfish penalties and always wanting the spotlight. Time for him to stop sulking and prove he is legit next season. MB traded PK for many of the alleged reasons... Will MB move him? PK was a lot worse though. Sounds like Domi on outs with Julien. Time to trade him was last summer

As the days go by, it looks like false hope. However....maybe there is a verbal agreement with a current playoff team that can only proceed if they are out. Yeah...i'm reaching. Or not....but the Gaudreau/Laine deal looks like hot air. I think they will push hard to acquire goal scorer. Either trade or free agency. I would get a better backup, then a goal scorer. We have a goal scorer in system but not ready yet. But Caufield should be good fit with Suzuki. I would aim for goal scorer who will one day play with those two.

Easy to tell that is. Definitely has to be something wrong. Beside the rumours of fights with Prust, Gallagher, insulting Markov. He's been traded a number of times at discount prices. A Norris winner signed long term should be easier to get eye teeth out of GM than deal him for pennies on the dollar. Subban going to be on his 4th team in as many years. Major red flag.

Gallagher is a tough case because I think he's smart and has good values, but he's also very conservative and it's easy to see he and PK being oil and water. What is that thing about insulting Markov? I always got the impression they were good friends. Subban on his 4th team? He hasn't been traded yet. You should also factor in that his contract may very well have been the reason he was traded by Nashville. That contract (or the fact it rankled Bergevin) could also have been a factor in his trade from Montreal. He earned every penny of that contract in Nashville his first 2 years there. Roberto Luongo, while in Vancouver, called his contract the worst in hockey. He wanted to get traded, but no one wanted to take on his contract. He played well for the Canucks but they were desperate to trade him too, not because he was a bad apple or bad player. The CAP implications of that contract affected every move they made. Sometimes it isn't the player. If I was the Devils GM, I'd wait a bit and see how Subban performed this coming season. If some of his health issues are behind him, he could be worth that contract. Subban has also found a partner and something like that can change a person. Or he could get worse The quality of the team matters too. If Jack Hughes improves, that team can take a good jump this year.

He has not been traded a number of times, he's been traded twice, once for Weber & once to NJ who paid a low price because they were willing to take on the entire contract. And 4th team in 4 years? Where does that come from? Prior to going to the Devils he had spent the last 3 years in Nashville. I know this deal still stirs up emotions but if we're going to talk about Subban let's stick to facts, not exaggerations and rumors.

Please don't let a Domi trade thread turn into another PK Subban debate, even if he is a mediocre defenseman who is grossly overpaid.

I couldn't tell you one way or the other ... there are a few other teams that also have cap issues, though ... Cheers.

Please don't let a Domi trade thread turn into another PK Subban debate, even if he is a mediocre defenseman who is grossly overpaid. He's had one bad year and suddenly he's mediocre? I know he's a lightning rod, but again, sticking to facts is important. Subban is surely overpaid for what he did last year. For being a Norris finalist, he's not. His career's not over yet, so best to wait to judge it. If Weber gets hurt (yet again) this coming season, we'll be wondering why Berg made that trade. Reagrding Domi, whatever you think of him as a player, his next contract is very much entering into the decision of whether to trade him or not. If we were weak at centre, we wouldn't be having this discussion and if we weren't looking ahead at having to pay others sizeable increases, we could afford to keep him. Contracts play a huge role in trade decisions.

I was glad to see him gone. Strong probability he'll be traded shortly. Making his 4th team. Doubt it will be his last. Way Jersey fans are talking anyway. Little doubt he is the bargain bin again with 50% off sticker on him.

Say what you want, he always gave 100% on and off the ice... is he loud and boisterous ... sure... doesnt jive with hockey's neanderthal culture... it's why the NBA is light years ahead of the NHL... it's why Bettman was brought in as commish... he was deputy NBA commish before... The NHL has done a terrible job promoting their stars and getting their stars to promote themselves and the league.

Both of my #76 MTL/NAS jerseys are in the closet, and they'll be staying there ... I have no intent on getting a #76 NJ because that will end up in the closet, too ... mind you, I don't think I'll be picking up a #13 MTL anytime soon either ... does anyone want to speculate where Max Domi is going to land or will he be re-signed by MTL ...
Cheers.

At least according to Domi's new agent, Darren Ferris, the player has never asked Montreal to trade him. Semantics? Probably. Pacioretty supposedly never asked for a trade either.

The part I find most interesting is that Max's 'old' agent was Pat Brisson IIRC. He and Berg are supposedly old friends. I know I'd be carefully watching my agent if that was the case. Like buying a house through a real estate agent who is a good buddy of the seller.

For sure, seventeen, I agree.
The weird thing over the years is that Brisson never used his influence over a client to favour his old bud Bergevin. For instance, last summer, Duchene came to the city and with his eyes wide open said no thanks to the Habs. It is not as though Brisson had put the fix in or brainwashed the player to feel predisposed to say yes to what Montreal was offering.

Max must have been unhappy with him for something. Or maybe Brisson's commission is too high for Domi's liking.

I have no idea, but here is a hypothetical. Let us assume that in the summer of 2019 Domi's camp had some preliminary discussions with Bergevin about a contract. And let us say that, while not many details were discussed, they talked general parameters and both sides agreed they accepted, in principle, the logic of a six year term and a dollar figure in the $6-6.5 million range.
Domi may have grown sour with Brisson because he wants to return to those general parameters from last summer and Brisson was unable to convince Bergevin to respect the parameters from those original discussions. Bergevin, fully within his rights, may be saying things are different now with the new financial landscape and the player's mediocre 2019-20 season.

Id say you are correct there. Most agents likely earn their money and do a lot of things for their clients that we don't think of.

I agree with you. We always point to exceptions to the rule. A bad cop makes a bad decision and we are all over ALL police. A ref misses an infraction and we rail about all calls. All lawyers are not crooks but when they defend obvious criminals i wonder.
