Two assists for Struble but keep in mind the first one was a pass (with lots of time) to his defense partner who wrists it at the net and its deflected in. The second is Struble just keeping it in at the point, it deflects off a teammates' stick (deliberately?) and goes to a wide open winger who scores on a good shot, but the goalie got caught off guard by the deflection. Neither was an assist that impresses me. Its points, for sure but stuff that any player would do at that spot, in that position. Two secondary assists. Hey, someone has to get those assists and they are good plays, but those 2 points are more impressive on the score sheet than they are on the eye test. That's the second game I think where Struble has gotten much the same kind of points. Harris, OTOH has made plays that impressed me more. Granted, he's older as well.

Ylonen is staying in Finland until he has to come over for Laval camp. He had an assist today in their 3-2 win as he had a good controlled entry and two nice diagonal passes later, it is in the net.

One less NHL contract after Alain decides to leave for school. Depth guy for Laval, but I did not see NHL upside there.

At 23 if Alain was not going to be more then an AHL lifer, time to move on. Depending on what he is studying, he can have a 40 year career and a normal life.....or ride buses to the next game to further break down his body.

Harris pots another two goals tonight. He doubles his season totals to four in the process. He seems to have worked on his shot, as that first blast was a really nice one timer. The second one was a good shot too. I guess he leaves Mete all alone now in the muffin shot club. All kidding aside, this shows Harris has improved one tool in his already impressive tool box.

UMass sweep the series against Northeastern with a 5-3 win today. Harris had the third assist on the first goal on the PP (yeah they don’t count), and Struble had the secondary assist on NE’s second goal.

Farrell and Chicago back to action this weekend. He had an assist today and yesterday. Today, he had a controlled entry, lost an edge but still got the puck to a mate, then got back up quickly and made the nice feed on the tying goal late in the third. They did lose in OT though. #26.

Marc Dumont now does these podcasts for the Habs on prospects. Most of this show was an interview with Guhle from the bubble. Interesting stuff. I put it here since the WJC is over tonight and there is more stuff on a few other prospects here.

Cool...I get to talk about someone new tonight. Welcome to Luke Tuch on this thread. He made his NCAA and season debut. BU lost 7-3 to Providence, but he had his first NCAA goal and assist in his debut. #11 in white. Atta boy, Big Luke.

There will be WHL this season after all. A shortened 2021 season with 24 games and I expect divisions will be based on geographic jurisdictions to limit travel.

It could only happen if the Habs kicked in his ELC and assigned him to Laval, but then he could not be assigned to the WHL thereafter. This was looking to be an exception if any of the three CHL leagues cancelled their season. Anyway, I am sure a more formal confirmation will come out once the WHL actually has a schedule and start date. |

Speaking of routs, Farrell had a four point night (1+3) in a Steel 11-2 spanking of the US U17 team. I am waiting to find a video montage of all his points, but here is his goal. A nice snipe from the trailer position. #26.

Caufield back in action with Wisconsin last night. His quick little pass near centre ice starts a nice tic-tac-toe goal. #8. It was a huge win for the Badgers (3-1) as they handed #1 ranked Minnesota their first loss of the season.
