Myšák with an assist and Xhekaj with a goal and an assist as Hamilton sweep and advance to the second round.
Guhle with an assist as the Oil Kings also sweep and move on.
Sobolev with an assist, his first OHL playoff point. Windsor is up 3-1 in their opening series.

Not sure if mentioned here already, but Otto Leskinen's Tappara won Finnish Elite League championship yesterday. Leskinen was the most dominant defenseman in Liiga playoffs, scoring 4+6 in 15 games.

A wild one as Charlottetown went across the bridge to take on rivals Moncton, and it took 19 shootout rounds to decide this puppy 3-2. That gets them into the QMJHL record book.
Simoneau had a goal in regulation, but he also scored twice in the shootout including the GWG in the 19th round.

Olofsson’s three point night the other day. #32 in light jerseys. A very nice primary assist from behind the goal line and quick finish on his goal. I was a fan of this pick back in the day, so it has been tough watching him flounder for the past few years. Nice to see him have a good little run of late.
His rights expire on June 1st. He has not really progressed as expected for a second rounder, especially on offence. He is having a decent current run with Björklöven in the playoffs though with 13 points in 17 games. Will they sign him? Before these playoffs, I would have said absolutely not. Now, there is still a faint chance. The challenge is the team has a lot of promising young prospects coming up and will add a number of highly ranked ones this draft, so there are only so many contract spots to be given out. A bubble guy that would have been signed a few years ago likely doesn’t get a sniff anymore.

I'd figure I'd ask you as you follow more closely the prospects oversees, but do these bubble players that don't get offered contracts ever get traded to another team for picks before their rights expire? Like for example if we could trade him to Seatlle for a 5th rounder... do those type of deals happen often?

Tankdriver Yes, the rights to unsigned prospects get traded every now and then, but not that often. It usually happens in two scenarios. One, like the recent Jack McBain case, where a highly touted NCAA guy has openly stated he will test free agency, then a team will try and get something before they lose him for nothing. The unsigned guys also get moved as part of deals, like the Habs did to acquire both the rights to Heineman and Smilanic at the trade deadline. Other than that, the majority of Euro players whose rights will expire tend to not get moved as there does not seem to be a big market for those types of trades. Of course with kids drafted out of the CHL, if a team does not sign them within the two year threshold, the vast majority are eligible to re-enter the draft. So a team who really wants a kid whose rights will expire can just take their chances with a draft pick for free. I probably went down a few extra rabbit holes with my answer. Lol

Norlinder is in the house. He joined the Rocket at practice today and is looking forward to showing what he can bring this time around.

Maybe I have not been paying attention, but I had no idea that Norlinder was coming back for the AHL playoffs. That will be a good experience for him.
Roy is blossoming. The talent was always there. He just needed to commit to approaching ice hockey like a professional.
Yeah, it may be too little too late for Olofsson. For whatever reason, in the last decade, whenever Bergevin-Timmins selected a Swedish forward in rounds 2 or 3, it was always a rangy kid with some size and skating but not much in the way NHL caliber offensive skills/instincts.

So much talent has come out of Sweden, and the Habs kept whiffing. Rockstrom just does not have it any more. They did get a new regional scout from Sweden a few years ago. Still waiting. Norlinder was a good pick, but he still has to “make it”. I think the new regime will be infinitely better for him (and any young player). And just wait until HuGo adds all the development resources and can actually provide players with more structured individual development plans.

Björklöven lose 3-2 in double OT and lose out 4 games to 2 in the Allsvenskan finals. That’s it for Olofsson’s season. Is it also nearing the end of him being a Habs prospect too?

Dichow will play for Frölunda in the SHL next season as his long rumoured singing is now official. A nice accomplishment after a very strong season in the Allsvenskan (second league) and with the Danish national team (Olympics and other games).
One Hab prospect moves on from Frölunda (Norlinder) and another one joins (Dichow).

Roy did not score last night, but was showing off his playmaking skills instead with a trio of assists. That is a ridiculous 7 points in two games for the young Sherbrooke star. They can wrap up their series with a win on the road in game three on Monday.
Also on Monday, all eyes will be on Acadie-Bathurst and Kidney to see if they can fight off elimination on the road in Halifax.

The Islanders will be without Trudeau tonight as they go for their three game sweep tonight. Trudeau did have a goal in each of the two first games of this series. Both Charlottetown and Sherbrooke can move onto the second round with a win tonight. Bathurst has to win in Halifax to stay alive.
Guhle and the Oil Kings move down Highway 2 a bit to take on Red Deer in game three. Guhle’s assist in their 5-0 win on Saturday (yes I was at the game) kept his playoff points run going. He has 8 points in six games, including st least a point in every game.
Xhekaj will be back when Hamilton play game three against Mississauga tomorrow night. He served a one game suspension last game. I have lost count how many suspensions he has been given this year! Still in the OHL, Vrbetic suffered his first playoff loss on Saturday as Kingston won 5-4 in OT. Vrbetic gave up 3 goals on his first 10 shots and was pulled in the first period.
