Simoneau with a goal as Charlottetown win 5-0 and sweep their series. Off to the second round.
Roy with a seeing eye pass to Spacek to tie the game at three after 40 minutes.
And the go ahead goal in the third. Another helper for Roy. Baie-Comeau tie it with 33 seconds left and then won in OT. Off to game four now.

Roy with the last two goals including the game tying and GWG, and an assist on the first goal as Sherbrooke win 3-2 tonight and win the series 3-1. Roy with a nuts 12 points in 4 games in the first round.

We need to start following Wright’s playoff progress. I think he picked up 2 points today. Has 12 in 9 games, which is solid but not eye popping. I think his scoring has picked up, though.

Late in triple OT, Kidney ends it. Second point in a 4-3 must win game. Back home for a winner takes all game five. Home ice sucks so far lol.
Klutch Kidney.

My Oil Kings advance with a tough sweep vs Red Deer. Guhle with the primary assist on the GWG. #4 in red. They go back home awaiting Winnipeg to win their series against decent Moose Jaw (EDM-WIN is the much expected best CHL playoff series, unfortunately it would only be a league semi). Neighbours, Guenther, Cossa, Guhle, Sourdif vs Savoie, Geekie, Pederson. I cannot wait.

Game 5 between Acadie-Bathurst and Halifax has been postponed from tonight to tomorrow due to last night’s game extending to near the end of 3OT. The boys can use the rest.
Two teams in action tonight featuring Habs prospects. Windsor is up 2-1 against Kitchener. Sobolev plays for them. North Bay is up 2-1 against Kingston. Vrbetic won his first five playoff starts but was pulled in game two and did not start game three. He might have lost his net for now. So there might be no Habs prospects in action in that game tonight unless you look at possible future draft picks, like RHD Ty Nelson who could be in play at 33 spot. 😉 😝
Hamilton play tomorrow night. We will see if Myšák plays as he missed last game with an apparent arm injury from a big hit the game before.
Simoneau/Trudeau and Roy and their teams have advanced to round two. Guhle and the Oil Kings are off to round three, going 8-0 in the process.

Kidney with no points, but I am sure he is super pleased with the Titan pulling off the reverse sweep coming back from a 2-0 deficit to win the best of five series with a tough battle tonight 2-1. It is a battle of Habs prospects in round two: Simoneau/Trudeau vs Kidney. Should be fun.

Just a reminder of what CHL prospects are still playing.
I would add Vrbetic and North Bay who are one win away from knocking out Wright and Kingston. He started the first six games but has lost the net to his backup right now. Will he get it back? Stay tuned lol.

Vrbetic with 30 saves in a hard fought 6-5 game tonight over Kingston. Wright with a goal and decent game, but the season is over. North Bay advances to the third round versus Xhekaj/Myšák and Hamilton.
Sobolev without a point, but Windsor advances as well.
Three of the four teams left in the OHL playoffs have a Hab prospect (or two in the case of the Bulldogs).

William Trudeau opened the scoring part way through the second and Charlottetown never looked back, winning game one of their best of five second round matchup 4-1 against Acadie-Bathurst. Simoneau and Kidney were without a point today.

Charlottetown go up 2-0 in their second round best of five series against Acadie-Bathurst with a convincing 5-1 win today. Simoneau with a pair of assists, Trudeau with one assist, and Kidney with no points on the losing side.

Charlottetown completes the sweep of Acadie-Bathurst tonight. Not a surprise. No points for all three prospects playing. Kidney is done for the season unless he gets a ATO to join Laval as a black ace.
Sherbrooke on the brink of the same sweep. Roy with a 1+1 night as they are up 6-4 in the late third. Sherbrooke win and advance with a 7-5 win.

The league semifinals start tonight for the OHL and WHL tonight for a number of Habs prospects.
In the OHL, Vrbetic and North Bay visit Xhekaj and Myšák (injured) and Hamilton in Steeltown, where the Bulldogs take their perfect 8-0 playoff record and put it on the line. Hamilton ended the regular season getting 29 of 30 possible points in their last 15 games to jump over the WHL powerhouses and get the CHL #1 ranking.
Speaking of said powerhouses, Guhle and the #3 CHL ranked Oil Kings take their 8-0 playoff record on the road to meet fellow western Titan #2 CHL ranked Winnipeg Ice, who went 8-1 in the first two rounds. WHL watchers (including yours truly) have been looking forward to this series pretty well from the start of the season. Should be a good one.

Kidney can sign an ATO and be with the Rocket for the remainder of the playoffs. He still would return to the Q next season.
No idea if Coach Houle would insert him into the lineup. He has to respect chemistry and the guys who got them there, but even being around and practicing with the team is a great experience for a young prospect.

The other beast man did get a touch for a secondary assist on Guenther’s goal. Oil Kings in a close one in the Peg. The Ice clawing their way back into this puppy.
Guhle not credited with an assist. A 4-1 lead after two, lead to a tie game after three. OT winner Oil Kings just over a minute in. Phew. This series should not disappoint.

The powerhouse Bulldogs continue to roll, winning 5-0 last night and taking a 2-0 series lead on the road to North Bay. Xhekaj with a lovely long feed for a short handed assist. Myšák is playing injured but is being used as the shutdown centre. Vrbetic did not get the start as North Bay has rotated its goalies this series looking for a win.

Guhle from the point. Very one sided game in shots and balance of play, but just 2-1 where it counts after 40 minutes.

The 8 remaining CHL prospects were all in action last night with varying degrees of success!
In the QMJHL, three went head to head and it was a 7-1 blowout for Charlottetown over Sherbrooke. Simoneau with a goal and three assists for the first star, Trudeau with an assist in the win, and Roy managed an assist on their line goal. Back at it tonight with the best of seven semis at 1-0 for the Isles.
Another head to head matchup (in theory) was yet another win for Hamilton who are 11-0 this playoffs after a 6-4 win over North Bay. For the second straight game, Vrbetic watched from the sidelines. Myšák had an assist, and no doubt Xhekaj was a beast. Series is now 3-0 for the Bulldogs.
Out west, another entertaining game between the WHL’s two best as the Oil Kings emerged 4-2 winners to take a 3-1 series lead. They could wrap it up Friday night at home, to avoid the series moving east to Winnipeg for games 6/7 as needed. Guhle without a point, but for the second straight home game, he was awarded the “hit of the game” on the big screen for his open ice hit on I believe Mikey Milne. He got the same on Monday night for and absolutely thunderous blast as he and draft stud, big boy Conor Geekie went into the corner for a loose puck. In the open ice, Guhle exploded Geekie sending him rocking into the boards and helmet flying off. Monday was what I pegged a “Larry Robinson hattrick” for Guhle: a goal, assist and monstrous hit. I expect I will go again tomorrow night and cheer them in for what is hopefully a series clincher. Been a fun few nights at the rink so far this week.

Charlottetown vs Sherbrooke is fun. After a Charlottetown blowout last night, Sherbrooke came back and win 4-3 in OT. Simoneau last night. Josh Roy tonight. 2 goals and an assist, including the OT GWG. Pesky Simoneau did get the tying goal late in the third.

The Wisconsin Badgers officially welcome transfer student Ty Smilanic to the fold. They also announced that soon to be former prospect (the Habs lose his right this August 15) Jack Gorniak will return for a fifth playing year (a special COVID provision the NCAA added). Cole Caufield’s brother Brock is taking advantage of this new (temporary?) rule and is also coming back for a fifth season after graduating with his degree.

Hamilton sweep North Bay. 12-0 in the playoffs and into the finals in style. Myšák with the hattie and Xhekaj with a goal. Vrbetic did not start the last three games. Guess that was a good cal coach 😆
The Oil Kings game is going very well for Guhle and the boys. More to come later.
The video has all three of Jan’s goals tonight. #19 in white

Edmonton Oil Kings are Eastern Conference Champs after a 7-1 win at home tonight and a 4-1 series win over the tough Winnipeg Ice. Guhle had another strong game and scored two goals and added an assist. Off to the WHL finals against the winner of Kamloops-Seattle. Great crowd and great atmosphere tonight. A pretty good two nights for Edmonton hockey teams.
Second CHL team to 12 wins after Hamilton got there in dominant fashion earlier tonight.
TSN will show games 3,4,5 of each of the CHL league championship series, so you can catch some Guhle action on tv in June. He has had a very solid playoffs. Don’t want it to end anytime soon. A trip for him out to Saint John would be nice. Ditto for Myšák and Xhekaj, as they will be televised for their OHL championship series games 3,4,5. Now let’s see which prospects advance in the Q.
