Lots of assets. All of the Pitlicks now.

Heineman was part of the deal that moved Bennett to FLA. A high energy fast two way forward. Played on the WJC team in 2021 and plays in the SHL. An interesting second tier prospect.
With Pitlick (signed) and Heineman (unsigned), the team is currently at 48 contracts. I know that won’t be an issue for long as there will be guys moving out.
Oh, and I am a fan of another 2022 first round pick. There is very good depth in the second round of this upcoming first round despite all the narrative that this is a “weak draft”. I say baloney.

Some details of the return if Calgary protects their top ten pick this year (very unlikely given they are pushing for the playoffs).

Some details of the return if Calgary protects their top ten pick this year (very unlikely given they are pushing for the playoffs). So there's a non-zero chance that the 1st from Calgary lands us Bedard, so I like it. Hear me out. The wheels fall off this year and Calgary needs to use the top 10 protection, leaving us with their unprotected 2023 pick. The Flames follow up with a nightmare 2022-23 season and win the draft lottery for us. Ok, I'll stop now.

Decent return and it signals that a full blown tear down is in effect. While TT is a good guy and would be a good role model for the kids, his age works against him and as we see, the return is good. Im focused in the first rounder and Heineman. I like his progression from last year to this. From 7-6-13 in 43 to 11-5-16 in 36 games so far in the SHL, where points are at a premium. At 20 and 6-1, 185 lbs. good size too.
Mr Hughes did ok for his first trade. Wonder what Petry will bring?

Some Heineman highlights from recent SHL games. A bigger Lehkonen who can pot the odd goal? We can dream!
He was Florida’s pick at 43 in 2020. The Habs have his rights for two more years. Playing already in the SHL at age 20.

Sorry to see Toffoli go. Thought he might be part of future plans. Looks like this will be a full teardown and rebuild.
Seems like a decent return although I know nothing about Heineman.
And less scoring potential this year can only help us keeping the 1st overall this year

Oh, and Tyler Pitlick is a UFA at the end of the season. A salary cap move for the Flames but also a roster spot that the Habs can free up at the end of the season.
Three Pitlicks, eh!?

Good luck in Calgary Tyler... liked you in a habs jersey, now I need to say goodbye to all of our D (except Romy) and some of our forwards Armia, Drouin, Hoffman, Paquette, Byron and bGal if possible
We now have 8.6 in cap space... time to use it

Yep, Tyler is cousins to Rem and his brother Rhett (Habs 5th round pick in 2019). Alas it's not the Stastny brothers Maybe we can get both the Tuch's now?

Calgary currently has the third best win % in the Western conference. I am pretty sure the first is going to be a 2022 pick. We can still cheer for a total collapse though lol!
Good luck Toff. You wore the jersey with pride and stayed committed when others checked out. Class act and all the best in Cowtown.

We just got rid of our top 3 forward.
He wanted to sign with us, he wanted to play for the Habs, he took a lower contract by about a million to wear the CH.....he's gone.
CONGRATS!

Yea, this signals a complete rebuild which is no surprise. Many comments saying the Habs didn't get enough in return. All will depend on Heineman (whom Hughes really wanted according to Lebrune) becoming a good top 6 forward and whether the extra 1st rounder pans out. So we won't know for a couple or more years. Hang in there HA. Cheers

He was the guy that most fans wanted to hang onto, but he's also the guy with the most trade value. I would have liked to keep him around as a much needed stabilizer/bridge but management must have felt that they needed to start accumulating assets. It could also mean that there isn't a very strong bid for a guy like Ben Chiarot. A few weeks ago the consensus was that he's worth a 1st round pick but I wouldn't be shocked if it's more like a 2nd. And they don't want to sell too low on a guy like Petry. So it's Toffoli for a good prospect (hopefully), a 1st, and some cheap filler. Nobody else on the Habs will fetch close to that.

Don’t like they got rid of a guy who has For one a contract he out produces loves it here wanted to be here and from all accounts his wife did too. …get rid of the overpaid guys who don’t want to be here. Can’t dismiss the return if they hit on the first and Hienemin keeps progressing. Trading Tyffoli looks like it trending to a big breakdown guess we’ll see once all the dust settles and we see what they have left on the books and they if they spend it Good luck to him…..a first round exit for Calgary is what I’ll be cheering for …lol

Petry might, if Habs retain, between 1 and 2 mil. An experienced RHD at $5mm a year is a bargain. And he’s under control for the next 3 years after this one (double edged sword). Gallagher won’t get as much, but Anderson would if they were willing to trade him. Anderson might get more. Another aspect of this trade is that some space was opened on RW. The team make up was skewed on the wing so now Caufield can move to Suzuki’s right, & Lehkonen can move up. Armia can be RW on the 4th line.

The real problem is the guy selling "darkness" and on extended vacation, not Toffoli who actually WANTED to be here. So the guy who is deeply hurting the team gets a pass and another who wants to be here gets shipped out. Congratulations to the new management...

He's got a NMC and the new GM has no power thanks to burgerbrain and the ridiculous contract he gave him. Gorton and Hughes and all of us are stuck with Carey as long as he wants to be here and until he decides he wants to go...
