According to George Laraque, Carey is playing Friday... I'll believe it when I see it

According to George Laraque, Carey is playing Friday... I'll believe it when I see it With a B2B weekend, it makes sense. But yeah, let’s see if the mystery man does play. I would think they would let him play his first at home, and both are home games.

I don't know about putting Price in against a PO'd Washington team when he not played since July 2021. Put him in tonight against the Isles.

Sad news again for the Isles. Mike Bossy has died at 65. Former Islanders, Clark Gillies and Jean Potvin passed away earlier in 2022.

RIP M. Bossy.
One of the purest snipers the game has seen.

Apparently Drouin gave Carey Saperlipopette for sitting out and using injury as a feeble excuse for not playing.

I am sure the Habs will be motivated on account of Price's return. However, the Islanders have been playing very solid hockey over the last 4-6 week and their loss last night to Pittsburgh as well as Bossy's passing will probably have them in a very determined mood.
I think it is probably better to start Price against an opponent with relatively less firepower, but with so many d-men who cannot or will not lay the body, I foresee New York getting the cycle ramped up.
Bossy was a sublime hockey player and his career was incredible by any standard, but compared contemporary times where star players tend to hang on to play 15+ seasons, what he accomplished in only 10 seasons was staggering.

I think the Isles fans will be into too in a respectful way. I've watched Islanders games where the fans remind me of the fans at English football matches - chanting, singing songs made up on the spur of the moment.
Not sure if the game wil be on here but I will try to tune in for the start, especially, too see the tributes.

The pace is faster now, but stars are given more leniency. Back then, stars faced more physical abuse on the ice than they do now. It's really hard to compare eras, especially with the speed of today's game, which is amazing. Oee watches a classic game and sees a much slower game and a lot more mistakes. I still consider Bossy the best pure sniper the game has ever seen.

I can honestly say you are seeing the Carey effect... forwards and D know he is back there so they can go full out offensively in the offensive zone

What the heck is with Barzal being third man in while Pezzetta and Lee are exchanging pleasantries? The Islanders' captain is a big man who can take care of himself. Why does Barzal ride into the rescue and then act all pissy when Evans pulls him off.
The boys are playing good hockey, moving as five man units, and largely carrying the play tonight. But Sorokin has been truly excellent and this game has the feel of one where the team dominating is going to get picked off on the counterattack at some point.

Poor Schunemann, yes, he mishandled the puck badly. But how in the world are all four mates deep when the shift was getting long? Yikes.

Cory "ShouldntMan" handles the puck like a grenade and it leads to a 150 foot 3 on 0 that ends behind Price
One time it, for Cripes sake what are you doing handling it , while wide open ...

Poor Schunemann, yes, he mishandled the puck badly. But how in the world are all four mates deep when the shift was getting long? Yikes. He was completely wide open. Everyone in the rink expected him to shoot ...not try to stick handle and lose the puck off his stick

The Habs look like they panic when they have the puck ... there is zero composure, like they are used to scoring

I'm ok with a loss if they worked hard and the other goalie played lights out like Sorokin has.

Sorokin is playing ok. But the Habs shooters are making it easy with their mistakes

So Price gets clipped from behind , a goalie returning from knee surgery .... and they do nothing.
31 other teams would have pounded the crap out of Cizikis, especially losing 2-0 with 6 mins to go

When Wilson clipped Campbell last night Clifford stepped in. He got the crap beat out of him but at least he tried.

But the Habs shooters are making it easy with their mistakes Really pleased the way the team rallied around Price with smothering protection for him. Price played an excellent game, no chance on one and no mistakes. Price gets a trophy for this one. A participation trophy for showing up and playing; playing very well.
