A few other results from yesterday.
Mešár was matched up with Kitchener’s two recent trade pickups in Arcuri and Zhilkin to form what should be a very potent top line for the Rangers. He added two assists in their tight road 5-4 loss.
Kidney had a heckuva game in his second in two nights with his new Gatineau team. He had the OT GWG and added two assists in the thriller over rival Quebec.
Davidson and Seattle (without their WJC returnees still) had a rare struggle last night in Moose Jaw. He added a goal and assist in the 6-2 loss, as he was in on both their goals. He now has 20 goals on the season.
Dobeš got the shutout for Ohio State and both Hutson and Tuch had an assist in a 3-2 BU loss.

Dobeš went through a bit of a tough stretch earlier, but seems to be settling down again with some pretty good goaltending.

Mailloux could get some big name star help in London soon. Interesting in that Bonk is the projected name going the other way. I really like this draft eligible RD. He was decent at the Hlinka, but has become even better in the regular season. Yes, he is Radek’s son.

And if peeps were wondering just how well the London Knights have been doing lately, they are rolling. BTW, that is Mailloux in the middle of the picture.

Good news for Rohrer: he scored the first goal
Horrendous news: this injury and getting stretchered off the ice to hospital

A couple of productive games for Guindon and the Owen Sound Attack. On Wednesday night they won 5-1, Guindon had a goal and two assists, and was named the second star. Last night, they won a thrilling 6-5 OT game with Guindon getting a goal, assist, and third star. Sorry, no highlights of his goals.

On Wednesday, BU beat UMass 6-2 with both Habs prospects picking up a point. Tuch scored his 4th and Hutson added an assist. Hutson has had an assist in each of his three NCAA games since returning from the WJC.

Seattle have been on a long road trip across the prairies. On Wednesday the top two teams in the Dub (and actually in the CHL rankings too) met in a clash of the big dogs. The TBirds prevailed 4-3 in OT in a fitting end to a marquee match. Davidson with two assists, including this cross ice primary one on Schaefer’s goal.

In the Q last night, Roy made his return to Sherbrooke after the WJC a notable one with a goal and three helpers in a big 7-0 Phoenix win.
Kidney had two assists as Gatineau edged Blainville 4-3 in OT.

Another big night for the Olympiques and Kidney’s line last night. They won 7-0 and the second line of Kidney, Nadeau and Gendron were in on four goals. Kidney with three assists.
A Big10 matchup last night featured visiting Ohio State at Michigan, in a battle between two top ten ranked clubs. Ohio State with the statement win 7-2 and Dobeš was strong in net for the win.

Hutson with the GWG and an assist in a 4-3 BU win over Cornell.
Speaking of GWG in the NCAA, Farrell had two goals in a 5-0 Harvard win including the GWG that was an end to end beauty.
His second of the night was no slouch either.

Roy had an assist in a 6-2 loss to the Mooseheads.
The Habs star in the Q tonight was Kidney, who has been on a heater since joining Gatineau. He had a goal and four assists in a 6-5 OT win.
That is 13 in the 5 games since joining Gatineau (and he was held pointless in the first game).

In the OHL, Guindon keeps getting points with two more assists tonight. Sobolev also added an assist tonight, and gets to play with Shane Wright every night.
Beck added his first goal with his new team as the Pete’s won big tonight.

Our prospects are playing with so much confidence... so great to see so many doing so well. A lot of credit goes to the players for doing the things needed to improve their game, but we cannot underestimate the value of Adam Nicholas and the expanded development team and the individual development plans that they have created and follow up on with each player. In almost all interviews with prospects that I have heard or read this year, they make some mention of it. Funny how giving young players better tools and support can lead to player development.

Both Mailloux and Guindon enjoyed a goal and an assist in their games tonight. The big difference was that London won comfortably in regulation, and Owen Sound fell in extra time.

I just finished listening to the Ray and Dregs podcast, where they interviewed Buffalo Sabres GM Kevyn Adams. What was fascinating about the interview was the similarity in philosophy between his management team and Montreal's. The Sabres emphasize the process (development) and they won't sign a 30 year old centre to start the season (even if they need one) because it will take away from the development of Dylan Cozens, who needs that ice time even if he makes mistakes the 30 year old wouldn't.
Adams was asked about Rasmus Dahlin, who is a legitimate Norris Trophy candidate this year and his development. Adams said that to be a star in this league you need talent, which Dahlin has. Dahlin is also obsessive about becoming better and critiques his own performance in more depth than anyone. Adams said that early on, that can actually hurt your development as you want to carry the team and be a star right now and the league is too good for that. Also, while he had some size, his body wasn't yet strong enough to do things that your mind wants it to do. Dahlin had a decent rookie season and then seemed to stall and go backwards, until 21/22 when the team was improving, he was maturing and his game got better. This year, he exploded out of the blocks and is a legitimate star.
Do those early struggles sound familiar?
