Age old question: where can one watch the game on line? Sportsnet streams (free if you have a cable subscription that includes sportsnet) and I believe CBC Gem streams HNIC Saturday games as well on the rare time they show the Habs. The other stuff folks may PM you. 😉

I would have thought it being a Leafs game, every broadcasting corp out of TO would be canceling all regular scheduled programming to ensure every Canadian sees the game

It will not be easy for the projections/ hopes management seems to have with Dach to become reality with linemates like that.

Hoffman is another story; actually same old story . But what's Marty suppose to do? Put Dadanov there? Maybe Gally but then who plays with Slafs. Lots of youngins for Marty to groom and protect.

Nobody asked me … but …. Slafkovsky-Suzuki-Caufield. Slaf shoots left, Cole shoots right. Monahan - Dach - Anderson Hoffman - Dvorak - Gallagher . Hoff shoots left. Gally shoots right But I’m also a okay with putting Gally with the fourth line. And Dadonov on the third, but the third line is then weak as a wet noodle. But Gally with those kids would work I think

Good work as always Rick. Opening night. You can feel the excitement. No Habs R Us regular season prediction pole...that can't be a good sign It's odd, I have an excitement about the season. No Bergy-brain and no old school coach (it appears). Not expecting a winning team but looking forward to what the new brain trust is building. Suzuki...new contract kicks in...the C...Let's see how he handles it Caufield...still not 100% sold but hoping last season under Marty started something Monahan...low risk move...can he rebound and bring a high pick Dach...signed for 4 years to a prove it contract...good risk/reward. Matheson...maybe my favorite move of the offseason. I think/hope he excels as our #1/2 Guhle...glad to see he made the team...hoping to watch him as a mainstay for 10 years Harris/Barron...young D...excited to watch if either can become a regular Xhekaj...do we have a beast in the making? has to be the surprise of the preseason??? Hit one Laff tonight with their head down and let the stories grow 8 players in and I still haven't mentioned 1-1. Really surprised JS made opening night but i have a feeling he's here for the opening night ovation. Let's drop the puck. Here's to a fun season

Unless your first round choice is Mario Lemieux and he's lit up the pre-season, you don't start an 18 year old kid on what everyone considers the top line. I agree that he's a good fit on that line. Right now, Slaf is more of a setter upper than a scorer and pairing him with two smart guys who can score seems like a really good match. But MSL has to consider the thin skin feelings of the vets on the team. If Slaf starts putting up points, however and Anderson stinks (which is highly likely, speaking as an Anderson non-fan), then I can see changes. Right now, two vets like Dvorak and Gally are really good mates for Slaf. Great game day thread, Dis. Man, the Leafs had brutal teams back then. Larocque's GAA dropped like Putin's popularity ratings after he was traded to the Leafs. Barry Melrose played 64 games on the 81/82 Leafs and Bunny had half as many points as he did.

The Triple Rookie Lap. And with Harris and Kovy, that is four true rookies on D tonight. Buckle up.

In my search for a free stream....I found this Habs-related item from the Sept. 6 Gazette. Apologies if it's already been posted in another thread.
Michel Therrien and Joël Bouchard both have new jobs, but not as hockey coaches.
TVA Sports announced Tuesday that Therrien and Bouchard will join the network’s Saturday night coverage of the Canadiens and the NHL and will do intermission segments.
Bouchard was fired after one season as the AHL San Diego Gulls' head coach. 28-33-7.

Man, these introductions are tediously slow.
You can’t say Montreal does these pre game ceremonies right tonight

Man that PP could be problematic all year long. Great set up by Suzuki to Anderson but he couldn’t pick up the pass for a clear chance. Did I mention I’m not an Anderson fan? 😇

Second Pp looked better. Leafs just a touch faster than Habs right now. We’ll see if that persists or the team adjusts.

If the PP doesn't start clicking, teams are going to really start taking liberties

Slaf’s best shift. Great example of high panic threshold in his own end, holding the puck till the Leaf forechecker was fully committed and out of position and then passing the puck, following up and drawing a penalty.
Ps. Id be benching Anderson. Completely useless. Just gave the puck away on the PP.

The boys aren’t looking too bad out there, save for the Savard turnover that cost us. Bunting is a clown with the huge celly after the goal.

Good first. Tough miss for Cole. Subtract Anderson and Savard and the team is really fun to watch. Guhle led the team in minutes. Kid may be a very good one. One of the highlights for me in the first...Gallagher actually had some pop on his shot...missed the net but actually had something on it. If he's healthy, opens up lots of possibilities...

Well the first 20 mins are in the books
1) Slafkovsky looks better than he did in pre-season 2) The rookies on defense looked a-ok , the vets not so much 3) The puck follows Caufield around, too bad he couldn't find the back of the net 4) The PP is as bad as it ever was
We can't let Murray pitch a shutout .

1-0, eh? A work-related social function kept my eyes away from pre-puck drop gala as well as the first period.
Hopefully the boys can pot a goal or two in the second.

Unfortunately, every game he plays reduces his value. Tonight, he’s shown weak hands, no vision and not a great deal of commitment. Perhaps he doesn’t want to go through a rebuild either. He is 28 after all.

Bob’s bang on. The kids are looking better than the vets, but we can’t lump them ALL together. Dvorak, Gally, Monahan, Evans all seem ok. Wideman is meh but is playing well above his weight class. He’s 3rd pair at best. Dadonov, Hoffman, not committed.
