What was the Swedish goalie doing there ...he just left the puck lying there for Lucius. Cover it up!
USA wins Bronze
On review of the goal, yeah, he couldn't cover that up. But he didn't move

Lucius scores the winner early after picking up the rebound from Hutson's attempt.

I think the progress of Slafkovsy has been impacted by 3 things which I always keep in mind: 1. The lack of an effective center for him, e.g. Monahan 2. The need for Habs to keep playing all the deadweight to try to get something for one or more of them at the trade deadline or this summer. 3. St. Louis said they were going to take it slow with him as he was figuring out what type of NHL player he was going to be. He's still an 18 year old kid in a man's body. Remember, "development"; don't put him a position to fail by expecting too much from him immediately. The record so far is that Wrights's played 8 games in the NHL with 1G & 1A. He's been a healthy scratch for a number of games with the Kraken. He's played 5 games in the AHL with 4G. Slafkovsky has played in all of the Habs games & has 4G & 6A. There is a rumor that he will be sent back to Junior after the World Juniors. www.bladeofsteel.com/Breaking-News-Shane-Wright-close-to-being-traded-193334As for Slafkovsky, I think it's much too early to draw any conclusions at least for me. Cheers I’m not disagreeing with your assessment, but I think Slaf does need to be scrutinized more closely as the other high draft picks (Kotkaniemi and Galchenyuk) were burdened with the same 3 points you made and were not given the benefit of the doubt right up until being traded. So yes, it’s great MTL will take it slow with him. And not do what they did to the other two (but in some ways they still are - ice time, linemates). So why do others point to SEA taking it slow with Wright as signs he is a “problem”. Seattle is only doing what the vast majority of fans want Montreal to do with Slaf - play in WJC, then go “dominate” a lower league. Agreed Skilly. And you make a good point about Wright not being a "Problem"; both kids need time to develop. Personally I hope both have a successful NHL career. Cheers

Hutson’s nice play in the bronze medal winning game in OT.

I know Del Mastro is the more defensive of the top pairing for Canada, but his defensive zone play is pretty inconsistent. That last play the led to a breakaway was just getting caught flat footed a bit too deep. Milic bailed him out thankfully.

Williams seems to be alternating Schaefer and Beck on the fourth line with Fantilli and Bankier. I guess it keeps all 13 forwards in the game. I wonder if he drops to a steady 12 at some point of the game.

That was a weak penalty call on Czechia. The stick wasn't moved very far when Barbanec skated into it

Nothing worse than getting possession after three shots and you weakly give it back to their defense at the point
They did it twice, and now it's 2-2
As I always say ... make sure you get it out

Bedard is quiet tonight (for his standards). Will he get on the scoresheet?

Got to say the reffing in the gold medal game was excellent. They let them play, and let the players decide it. No real chinsy calls.

It was also nice to see, on the winning goal, the early pass at the blue line .... some NHLer *ahem*Habs*ahem* could learn that geometry

It was also nice to see, on the winning goal, the early pass at the blue line .... some NHLer *ahem*Habs*ahem* could learn that geometry I was watching for that when they broke away. Skilly-itis. But it's true. Roy made an excellent play, holding onto the puck and not panicking and making the pass after he got past the defender.
