Funny about the young Radulov, he never really looked like a teenager. That is the kind of dude the players on the other team watch in pre-game warmups and think just frickin great a ringer who drove himself to the arena this morning.
I must admit I have a held Dallas in relatively low regard in recent years, primarily I suppose because I thought the likes of Benn, Seguin, Klingberg, and Suter were massively overrated. But I have to give Jimmy Nill some credit. The Stars have drafted well and he has quietly managed create new core while the organization lives with the term on the contracts of the remaining vets.
This season Dallas rarely loses two games in a row, so I imagine DeBoer will have his guys ready to play. I fully expect Montreal to get outplayed. The question is can Allen or Montembeault be the great equalizer.

Which team will be thinking least about Xmas. I'm thinking the vets are the ones with children and Xmas may be running a little deeper in their minds. If that's the case Stars may have already checked out. I'd have Monty in net so Jake can be texting his family while on the bench.

The question is can Allen or Montembeault be the great equalizer. There's that old saying, I'd rather be lucky than good. Especially in drafting. Habs had a few years where their future got set. 1984. Svoboda, Corson, Richer, Roy. Then, in another stroke, just 3 years later, 1987, Cassels, Leclair, Desjardins and Schneider. 2007 - McDonagh, Patches and P.K. For the Stars, it was 2017, a hit and miss draft. Lots of misses, but the teams that got hits, got home runs. Dallas got Heiskanen, Oettinger and Robertson. Good scouting? No doubt that played a role, but those same scouts took Riley Tufte in 2016 and in a strong draft in 2015 took Dennis Gurianov in the first round before 'settling' for Roope Hintz in Round 2. That one draft has set up Dallas for a decade of success. Give me a basket of horseshoes any day.

How is Wideman the only dman who gets PP time. He has no shot, he's not creative,he's not quick with the puck. He doesn't even look confidant

Wideman complains he was shoved....he was...but not hard enough to make him push the net off.

Excellent, the dummies on the team with their dummy penalties have allowed Dallas to take the lead late.. onward and downward

What the hell is Harris doing on the PK trying a blind tip pass between his legs ... you go around the boards all day every day and ice it!

Dach does the right thing, puts it behind the net, and hangs back for the return pass ...Guhle mishandles the puck, but then regathers , cuts back, and instead of just passing to Dach, tries the same s**t that Harris did, a blind tip pass between his legs to the blue line to a Star, who buries the empty netter
These guys have been doing these blind passes all year ... when do they learn?

The penalty kill has been average this season, but it looked terrible tonight, giving up the entry way too easily and just generally playing on their heels. On the game winner, Harris just made a lame play (I won't say soft because I don't think he was bailing from looming hit of the forechecker, but it was not an NHL quality touch or pass).
I feel bad for Allen. To lose by a goal in a game where he made some very good saves and did not give up an even strength goal is kind of tough.
Kudos to the fourth line for creating opportunities and cashing them in.

But that's the problem with losing, .. it enforces bad habits and maybe the switch can't be flicked. It's why most players hate a tank. Nothing reinforces a good attitude and work habits like winning.

Sure, but we won't be getting one of good ones like everyone hopes ...we will be getting the B talent in the 8-15 range. Granted we may get 2 of them. But then THAT group has to develop for a year, (or two), then go a year trying to learn to win (keeping a lead, staying out of the box, etc). The good habits are 3-4 years away ... wasting many Suzuki-Caufield years

The good habits are 3-4 years away ... wasting many Suzuki-Caufield years But if we keep losing (as well as Florida), we improve the odds of the lottery balls and getting into that top 4 or 5. Right now we'd be picking 8th and 11th. But the teams behind us include Ottawa, Philly and San Jose, all of whom are capable of catching us. Earlier this year we were in a playoff spot, and now we're 25th. I can't see us catching the Yotes, Hawks,Quacks, Goodbye Columbus, but the rest are possible and with luck, we could be picking 5th and 6th before the lottery balls fall. With two teams in that mix, our odds rise to 16% instead of the 11% they're at now. It's also important to get down to those levels as insurance if the balls don't fall our way. That first tier this year is the top 4 picks and then the next tier is another 4 or 5 deep again. That second tier isn't just top 6 guys...it's impact top 6 guys. There are also a couple of d-men that are rising up the charts according to some evaluators. But regardless of who else might climb the charts later, who'd say no right now to Andrew Cristall or Brayden Yager or Zach Benson who is the youngest guy on the Winnipeg Ice and their leading scorer (20-26-46 in 29 games). The Ice have Connor Geekie and Matthew Savoie, who went 11th and 9th respectively in the 2022 draft, but Benson is blowing them away. I saw Benson in the U18's and he is a very dangerous scorer with a high, high, IQ. He's +26 in 29 games, on a very good team of course, but that's a stratospheric number and the highest on the team. And he's not in the top tier! He's also from Chilliwack, BC, which is dairy country and what would a guy do to escape getting up at 5 a.m. to milk cows? It's a really good draft and we HAVE to take advantage. Maybe Hughes can trade one of our goalies so we'd have to call up someone who could go .880 or so.

Marty's Line Blender gets 51 tomatoes. I'm Ok with him mixing things up but did anyone seeing these lines think this would work. Suze between Armia and Drouin - WTF. Both Cole and Suze may have played their worst games of thew season. And Drouin was just awful on the PP with countless turnovers and was responsible for the empty netter. And in the box for a lazy penalty when Stars scored first goal. I understand trying to get Drouin going so maybe we get something in return come March, but this is so painful to watch. Can't wait until FA day and no one signs him.

Hughes isn't getting anything fof him & I'm sure he knows that. And Suzuki between 2 guys with zero goals?
