Harris makes it 2-0 after a long period of sustained pressure.
The Oilers have not gotten out of bed yet. They are lethargic.

The game in Edmonton got away from the Habs due to penalties. Here they go again.

Savard is such a big useless goober. Make it easy on the refs. Long string of pp time for the oilers

As soon as those penalties expired...Allen whiffs with the glove.
Comeback is on.
McDavid's top skill at top speed is a treat to watch.

No reason for the Habs to take the bait and engage with the Oilers there. Up 3-0 and about to go on the PP against a listless Oilers. Game should have been over there, but instead we lose Xhekaj to injury, cancel the PP and awaken the sleepy opponent.

Dvo shortie. Nice try Edmonton lol. And I still hear Karlsson to EDM rumors. Has Holland ever heard the old saying - defense wins championships? Let's add another defensive liability & just outscore people. Stupid.

The Oilers broadcast has spent a lot of time talking about how the Oil could be in first in the Pacific with a win. They are now impressed with the Habs efforts in both games this weekend given all the injuries.
The Oilers thought they had this one in the bag.

Sigh. Another nail in the tank coffin. The only 'good' thing that has come out of the game is that WiFi is going to miss a bit of time. Without that aircraft carrier on the team, the guys should lose some time and space.
I know I've repeated myself over and over, but this year (and draft) are opportunities that rarely come along. We can't pass up years of contention for a few foolish victories. Hughes has to trade off anyone who won't be a part of the real team in 3 years time and who might be contributing to points today.
If we don't succeed in the above, I can see us in 3 years time lamenting "if only we'd been able to pick B instead of A, think where we'd be". It's now or never.

Don, tell us how you really feel... lol I guess living there you must get your fill from Oilers fans I am definitely tired of Oilers fans gloating. They had not lost in regulation in 34 days. McDavid had a 16 game point streak and 17 road game point streak, both of which were stopped. They could have moved into first in the Pacific at least until the Vegas game later. Alas, they pooped the bed. Even the Habs misfits looked better than the Oiler stars today. This does hurt the tank (so did that shocker against the Isles yesterday), but if I get to smirk a bit with my Oiler fan buddies a bit, then all is not lost. Definitely a game where I had torn emotions on the possible results.

Aside from ticking off vets who are currently on the roster by sending them through waivers to Laval, Hughes is sort of just caught in a holding pattern right now. Monahan is not getting traded until he returns and looks capable of keeping up in NHL games. Edmundson also needs to return to action. Hughes cannot start pulling the trigger on minor deals like Dadanov and Drouin because Montreal can only retain money on three contracts in any given season.
Losing Xhekaj will be a big blow for any length of time because not only that major physical presence is gone but the guy coming into the lineup (Wideman) is nothing more than a #7-8 depth guy.
