How is Gurianov playing? I see he has now 5 goals in 11 games which is very good. But...not if he's on for 10 goals against.
If they don't lose badly I may watch the game just to see how he plays.

Drouin hasn't had a shift yet. According to the intermission discussion, Guhle couldn't go so the league rule determined that Drouin HAD to be in the lineup. Marty wasn't too pleased about it. Basically, Drouin's in the press bench. |

I would mention another game going with consequences for the tank but I’ve already jinxed one and I’m not jinxing another. Panthers game? Devils had a 2 goal lead after 2 but gave up 3 in a 2.5 minute stretch. Thanks Jersey. |

The boys worked hard, so there is no issue there. But the lineup is just too anemic to generate enough quality chances to win games (even against Brian frickin Elliott).
Four more of weeks of misery...

Hope Drouin enjoyed his view of the game tonight. It is extraordinary on so many levels: 1) player being forced to dress by league rules but coach standing by his principles and won't let him leave to bench; 2) Drouin returning to TB and in Mtl dog house were he should have been a few years ago and Sergie playing a strong game; 3) This isn't about sending a message to Drouin as he is gone in a few weeks. It's letting everyone know that Marty has expectations and they need to be met; 4) I wonder what MB thinks (assuming he can think) when he sees the pathetic player Drouin is and how good Sergie is? |

The league rule put Marty's stance on public display. Harsher than intended...but it also suggests that missing a meeting isn't the whole story.

I applaud Marty for what he did... he could have played him and said, he's gone in a few weeks but he stood by his morals and said 'you can force him onto my bench but I don't have to play him'. Every player in this locker now knows there are consequences to your actions even for an entitled bunch like NHL hockey players... |

I hope you're right about Drouin's future in Mtl, but Marty is now saying Drouin is a great guy and he respects how Drouin responded to the benching and they're moving on. Hopefully not together  |

Ouch, watching Drouin not play for 60 minutes was painful. And objectively, it hurt the team, since it meant every line was a constant mix and match of players, which can't be good.
I thought the boys were doing well, until the 3d when Tampa put their foot on the gas, and did what good teams do - play just well enough to win.
If anything, this season shows how it's the top handful of players that define a team, and that a group of better AHLers can play tolerably well in this league.
