Ok! Now that I got your attention. This Fla draft pick has been a tantalizing tease all season with a very disappointing ending. First, with Fla's poor start it looked like we might even get 2 shots at Bedard in the lottery. Then they picked up their game and lottery was unlikely but at least they would miss the playopffs and we get a decent first round pick. Then somehow Fla sqeaked into the playoffs and it looked certain we would get the #17 pick overall - not bad. Now it looks pretty certain the pick will be #29 at best as Leafs choke again. So essentially we got a 2nd round pick for Chariot which is still not bad given Chariot is not really a top 4 dman. But man, i don't think I've ever followed another team's season so closely as I did Fla. And all for not. The silver lining in all this is Leafs lose and their window is rapidly closing. Matthews will not be resigning with the Leafs as he will be a UFA at the end of next season and will be heading south to the homeland away from the neurotics in TO. He will be traded by the deadline. Tavares is getting older. Marner never shows up in the playoffs . They will be looking for a new core and starting the rebuild wihtout Shannahan or Dufus. So not happy about droppiing from #17 pick to #29+, but never hurts to see the leafs choke yet again. Hugo are likely trading the pick in any event, but boy, what could have been

Yeah, I can see that pick being traded + extra for a Kakko, Laf, or PLD. I little like the Dach trade at last years draft.

Bold prediction
The player we take with the Florida pick, does better than the guy we pick at #5 overall

I spent the first half of the season convinced we'd be able to trade Monahan at the deadline for yet another 1st, giving us a strong chance at Bedard, a pick in the 10-15 range, and a pick in the 20-32 range. With luck, transforming our team for a decade. Now, I have no expectations we get a star player, I'd just be happy with someone serviceable.
Throw in Slaf looking like a weak 1st overall, and expectations are definitely dampened
I expect Bedard to go stateside and Habs to be just outside the star players range

Throw in Slaf looking like a weak 1st overall, and expectations are definitely dampened Way, way, too early to think he'll be a weak pick. Eighteen, still growing into his body, playing in a good developmental organization with a coach willing to allow players to take risks...there's a long runway to travel yet.

If we get Bedard and we are willing to trade him for multiple young stars plus add Dubois, we can be a playoff team next year. Maybe top 10.
Monday 8th at 8 can be the most significant point in time for the Habs since we won the cop in 93.
Are you religious?

Today my son and a couple of his friends were sitting at the 'math table' and their teacher overheard them basically holding a bull session talking draft lottery, players, etc. So she goes over there and says something like 'boys, enough, get serious, we have work to do.' Nico apologizes but does not leave well enough alone, he says 'Miss Demboski, my dad told me this morning that where he works probably no one was going to be productive today.'
What a kid, throwing me under the bus.

I feel like we’re getting 2nd overall or staying at 5. I prefer the former, but would be happy with either outcome.
