Until 2022-23, Allen had consistently been a solid performer in the regular season throughout his career. So I was hoping that last season was an aberration and that he could back to his old form, particularly if the Habs could mature a bit, cut down on quality chances against, and stop taking so many penalties and not killing penalties. But who knows, maybe he will not get back there.

Yeah, Willie, I suppose you are right. At $3.875 this season and next, there just are not many clubs who could take the contract even if they like Jake Allen. And given how the last twelve months of his career have been trending, he would safely clear waivers. In my estimation, it is far more likely Primeau would be claimed than Allen.

Good example of either Mailloux or Slafkovsky misreading a play. Both chase Marner and you know the dangerous area is the vacant one, right where Matthews was. Dumb. Speaking of dumb, a bit earlier, Savard ended up with the puck at the Leaf blue line snd Dach broke for the nst down the completely open right side and Savard passed the puck somewhere else.

One thing that concerns me and its been an issue during MSL’s tenure. Our discipline in our own end regarding positioning and not getting sucked in puck chasing has been awful. Could be youth. Could be preseason right now.

I certainly thought it should be eve penalties. Maybe Arber gets called but that slash back was worthy of 2 minors. Then there’s a scrum. Period. Instead they manufacture an extra penalty against us.

Arber’s going to have to destroy Reaves to tame the Leafs. They look mor aggressive than usual.

Kipper is right. Leafs blue line is too weak. Ours is better.

For me anyone who thinks Pezzetta is not in the lineup opening night is not seeing reality. Treliving signed Reaves and two other light-weights (Domi, Burtuzzi) known to stir the pot, so the idea that St. Louis is going to ice a fourth line like Farrell-Evans-Armia just seems kind of unrealistic.

He is very smart and a good skater. They could not start with Mailloux or Norlinder. Seemed like the right choice to start for me.

It's a shame the defense is so young and inexperienced because I'd really love to move on from Savard. He's a pylon

I don't know what the plan is for goaltending. Do they have the guts to waive Allen and give Primeau a long look?

Yup. The fact Norlinder, Trudeau, Reinbacher and Mailloux looked better than Barron while not being expected to make the team is worrisome.

Are there any rebuilding teams with a gap on RD, willing to take a chance on Barron.
