I only saw clips of the Canes but I did see that save Andersen made on Dobson. Stellar stuff.
You're right about Andersen. He's better than anyone Toronto has.

What was with the stupid penalties by the Leafs... way to go Dumi... obvious slash on marchand leads to a PP goal, Matthews engages someone finally and high sticks them in the face which led to a PP goal.
Considering how expensive rent is in Toronto, it's amazing the Bruins can live rent free in the leafs head...
Marchand is a real Saperlipopette disturber... the Bruins score, they do the high five thing at their bench and then he skates right by the leafs bench... what a laff.

Swayman was very good right from puck drop, though Boston was not like crazy impressive or anything. The Leafs attention to the fine details of hockey was lacking. The margin of error in the playoffs is simply too miniscule to get away with such lapses.
Reaves and Domi are not smart hockey players.
I still think it will be a long series. But if Samsonov performs poorly Monday night, then Toronto could be on life support because the guy obviously has a fragile psyche and who can Keefe turn to -- a rookie who struggled down the stretch or an over the hill Martin Jones?

Intetesting that you mention Samsonov's fragility. I have wondered about this since last summer after the Leafs took him to arbitration despite a strong season and a playoff series win.
Instead of rewarding his goalie, Treliving wastes money & term on a goof like Reaves.
This process can be bruising for players & maybe it's still bugging Samsonov.

Interestingly, Boston has not trailed at all in its games against TO this season. They are definitely in their heads. We shall see how long they keep that stat going.
Domi and Reaves. What a duo.

I don't know why a playoff team would waste a roster spot on someone like Reaves. But then I look at the Rangers / Caps summary & see that the President's Trophy winners have dressed Rempe and he actually scored a goal!

Crazy action in Winnipeg, 3-3 after 20 minutes. Colorado's forechecking is hyper-charged. The Jets are forcing some turnovers too in the Avalanche's end, though I think Colorado has tossed a couple of pizzas into the no-fly zone when there was not sufficient pressure to explain such stupidity. Plus, Georgiev does not seem ready to deal with the guys in front of him making some suboptimal decisions.

When one team is going berserker against another, I always wonder how long they can keep it up.
Course, if they get up a bunch, who cares?

That avs jets game was crazy. Not to often you see a 7-6 game in the playoffs.
Not sure the Jets can keep up if they don't clamp down defensively.

You’ve got to read Sean McIndoe’s Athletic article “16 players you meet during every nhl playoff run”. He talks about these guys. Funny stuff.

Nucks squeeze past the Preds 4-2 overcoming a 2-1 deficit. My sleeper guy, Dakota Joshua was a hit machine all night and added 2 goals and an assist. Go into NHL.com and check out his winning goal. This is a 3rd liner scoring a goal scorer's goal. It's as if the hockey gods cloned Joel Armia, but gave him Cole Caufield's hands. Ok, Joshua isn't that good, but that was a hell of a goal, against Saros, who isn't chopped liver but is an inch too short to block the puck with his shoulder. . Thirty two points in 63 games, will be 28 in May, 6' 3" and 206 lbs. He'll be a UFA this July. Remember how the Canucks were playing so well and then went into a swoon? That's when Joshua got hurt and missed 19 games. Amaziingly, they started winning again when he came back. Don't get excited. Canucks aren't about to lose him and besides, it would be too confusing with him and Joshua Roy on the same team. Not to mention Josh Anderson, for whom DAkota would be an excellent replacement. Did I mention the 60 PIM in 63 games? Or that he's a left winger? Hmmm, how close are the Canucks to the CAP?

Guys, I wouldn't slag the Sabres too much. That's like the pot calling the kettle black...(Therrien x2, Julien x2) Ruff is a good coach and should take the country club environment of the Sabres away.

Who would you rather, MT, CJ, or Ruff. Hmm..Bread and Water, Gruel, or Kale. Decisions, decisions. I'm not sure what to make of this. Everyone says Ruff is a good coach, and he may be, but his best years were his first four with some guy called Hasek playing goal. Then he missed the playoffs in the next 3 while Ryan Miller was developing. After that lost in round 3 the next 2 years with prime Ryan Miller, and missed the playoffs 3 of the next 5. He sure looks to me like his coaching is as good as his goaltending. It wasn't good in NJ and he didn't do well there either. He qualifies for OAS next year so how well does he relate to the kids these days? Dad? Crazy uncle? I'm beginning to think Kevyn Adams isn't that good a GM. Maybe we can pry JJ Peterka from him.

You can see the writing on the wall in Toronto. The D sucks, it’s just Morgan Reilly, their top heavy, wasting a great career from Matthews. We’ll be better than them in 2 years. They missed their window

Sam Bennett is out of the playoffs for the foreseeable future. I believe he was injured earlier and came back a month or two ago. I'm a pacifist but I hope Florida keeps having more of these injuries. They're not a team that should be liked. Unfortunately, neither are the Vegas Golden Cheaters and they've got a 2-0 lead against a good team. Stone and Pietrangelo have come back very recently from injuries of their own. Pietrangelo is a key. If he gets hurt again, they're done. Or if Eichel gets hurt. Two pillars.

Apart from the media my hate for the Leafs has been replaced with pity. They paid their dues going through a tear down and rebuilt around a solid forward core. It begs the question as to whether they could have won a cup if afforded the cap advantages that a team like Tampa has benefitted from. I.E. Tampa's roster includes multiple future hall of famers and they've never had a contract above $9.5 million.

I enjoy watching TSN and Leafsnet when they lose I started to watch Overdrive tonight and just walked away. They were beefing about Marchand & showed a clip of the empty netter. Bertuzzi was on top of Marchand. McClennan's take was that Marchand had "submarined " Bertuzzi. Really? Looked like a tackle to me. I can't take this homerism.
