So everyone is trashing Suzuki and he has a goal and an assist. Is that about right? Lol... we're habs fans, of course we are...

Interesting, Arpon Basu just said Marty is playing Barron on the PK to develop his defensive skill and playing Arber on the PP to get his offensive side going... a good year to do this

Slaf reminds me of a newborn giraffe... his legs are all over the place and he's a little unsteady...

Kuraly shoving Xhekaj after the whistle. Smiles and skates away safely. Xhekaj is wise to learn that plenty of close-to-zero-real-toughness dudes will try to get him to take an unnecessary penalty.

Slaf just had his best shift of the game .. nothing flashy, but some good decisions

Gallagher works so hard, but at this stage of his career, he becomes such a huge liability if a shift lasts beyond 30 seconds. Two sad penalties tonight.

Well we got a point ... but we will start the OT short handed
The refs really take any chance to call a penalty on red. A blatant hooking call missed prior to Gallagher's highstick

Inspiring win by the boys tonight. Columbus is not a good team, but trailing by two goals, they kept working. Montembeault battled and deserved a positive result. It is good to see Suzuki and Caufield with a big night of productivity. Though, moving forward, it will be important to see whether they can start to stand tall at 5v5, because thus far most of their production is coming at 5v4 and 3v3.

I'm pretty sure the habs are doing very well 5v5... top 10 in the league

You are right, Willie. But most of Suzuki and Caufield's points are not 5v5.

You know, man, some of my whipping boys (Gallagher, Pearson), who I do not think are off to sustainable starts to the season, are among the prime guys who have driven the Habs to solid 5v5 numbers.
I really believe over the long-haul, losing Dach is going to cripple Montreal 5v5. I think that Newhook-Dach-Slafkovsky line could have been an interesting dilemma for opponents to deal with. Now, with Newhook in a role (2C) that he failed to deliver in with the Avs last season when they really wanted him to step up, I just do not see the same potential for the second line. Though, in fairness, I would keep Anderson and Slafkovsky on Newhook's wings for another 7-10 games because a big fast line seems like a better bet than diluting everything (i.e. putting Harvey-Pinard with Newhook and the Kid).
Basically Suzuki and Caufield are crazy skilled enough to make a difference in non-5v5 situations and that, even strength, opposition coaches are still going to throw top-4 d-men out there against them regardless of whether they are carrying a third wheel (Harvey-Pinard) who is woefully unsuited to playing with them.
St. Louis has some headaches to grapple with. But no one said it was going to be easy at this stage of the rebuild.

I just don't think he can handle the pressure... I think if Roy got a chance he would run with it... smarts, skill, speed... it would be a really fun line to watch

Sure, CBJ are not a good team. But that was a great win on so many levels: 1) it was a very entertaining game to watch; 2) a come from behind win, down two goals, is good for moral and never quit mentality; 3) Suze seems to have awaken; 4) did everyone else know that Cole was going to bury that one - watch Suze on the replay, and he just stands at the side of net knowing that where Cole was shooting from, it's a sure goal.
Only downside was X disappeared after being hit. I was expecting a throw down at some point during the game. Perhaps he was told not to retaliate. I think he was stunned by the hit which was a cheap shot, perhaps concussed, or hurt his shoulder. Anyway, a learning moment for X that you're going to get hit and you have to know how to respond.

The fact the refs did nothing is bullSaperlipopette... that was a dangerous hit and if X did that he'd be in the box, the Russian kid is big and if he hit a small guy there might be a serious injury... the refs failed
