Tx for the memories Dis! That's a classic video from another era! And Lemaire without a helmet and Guy with one. And some pretty fierce back checking by Guy on a couple of those shifts.

DeSmith is in net for the Canucks. I assume it will be Allen for the Habs. Vancouver has been a real problem for opposing goalies this season, though somehow Samsonov and the mediocre Leafs d-corps managed to keep them in check last night.
I am not sure how I feel about Suzuki and Caufield playing on different lines. Caufield is really going to have be the most dynamic version of himself to get good looks because in no world is Dvorak known as a centre who drives play.
It is early still and I am certainly not complaining about what St. Louis is getting out of the boys, but two regulation wins in 14 games seems like it is saying something significant about the quality of the roster at this stage of the rebuild.

I wonder if this was done to round out CCs game to get him to be a bit more defensive.. I know +/- is not a truly representative but he has scored 58 goals in the league and is a -32 so it means he's been on the ice for 90 goals against in 137 games... Teams are keying on Cole as shoot only guy so he has to change and I have noticed Cole moving around with the puck more, he also needs to develop playmaking because Suze has a very good shot as well and Cole needs to get better at setting up Suze when they are put back together

No one plays at the top of their game night in and night out. Yesterday, Demko was definitely off his game with a .773 save %. The game before, Vancouver was also not at their best but managed a win regardless. They might simply be going through one of those troughs every has a couple of times a year. We may be able to catch them off guard. DeSmith has been pretty good, though.

Another game I can watch as it’s Canucks and available in BC.
Slaf fans on a 2 on 1 pass to Cole.
One thong to watch is Canucks are disciplined in their own zone.

Pearson on a good rush clangs one off the post. Good pace to the game.

Wow, news to me that Juulsen is still kicking around between Vancouver and Abbotsford, albeit on a two-way contract. Poor guy never had much luck with the injuries and I looked on Hockey DB and see he has yet to reach 75 NHL games in his career.

Quinn Hughes may give us a preview of what Lane Hutson will do for us (after a couple of seasons experience of course).

That is a total ceiling type comparison; but I can see it in Hughes-lite type form. I loved the Hutson pick from the start because it just looked like a smart home-run swing in the late second round. But at first I remained skeptical about the likelihood of him developing into a NHLer. You know, he is really small and NCAA hockey is an environment where the physicality is really toned way down by the rules and the sensibilities of the institutions involved. As time goes by, however,I am coming around to the idea that this kid possesses enough high level hockey sense to go along with the skill so that he can make an impact in the NHL. One of my buddies, who played four years of college hockey at New Hampshire and attends a lot of games in the region, told me Max believe me this Hutson is the real deal, he is not a Will Butcher type of guy knocking on the NHL's door, Hutson is more like Quinn Hughes than a fringy type NHL prospect.

Canuck’s goal created by an excellent Hughes cross ice pass (very Markov like).
Habs tie it up. Dvorak.
(Being challenged).
No goal. Caufield too anxious. Crap.

I hate these offsides where the offender is not involved in the play.

That's four goals called back on the Habs for video review of offsides this season. I think it was Caufield on all 4 of them as well.
Either way, video review of offsides is dumb IMO. If it's that close that 2 linesman don't make the call live then it should stand.

Not much push back from the boys thus far. It gives me the unhappy vibe that DeSmith is going to stroll to a shutout against his once and very temporary team in Montreal.

If it's that close that 2 linesman don't make the call live then it should stand. The league will call back goals on marginal offsides but they will allow guys to direct the puck in with their feet like Marchand did last night. Bush league.

thought boys played well. slafs had a very strong game. Cole, not so much. While i agree he should be with Suze, it seems to me that if you're get $8 million. ayear then you should not be dependent on a the teams star centre.
Now for my Matheson Rant: the guy was a -3 and constantly takes high risk chances and makes dumb plays. Sure he got a goal on the PP, but we will never be a decent team as long as he is playing top pairing minutes, or is on the #1 PP unit. In fact, I'd put him on the second PP unit to allow them to enter the zone with Maths skating. But having him QB the #1 PP is dumb.

Turning point was the goal on Allen without his stick. Are these guys professionals? I was always taught that when your goalie loses his stick it is imperatrive you get it back for him. Now that may be risky and difficult when you're hemmed in, but when Nick was able to clear the zone, the first thng the dmen (Guhle and Barron) should be doing is getting Allen his stick. It's tough enough when you can't match up to the skill level of the opponent, but being dumb is inexcusable.
