Slaf has made a couple of really nice passes to Caufield for scoring chances. Picked up an apple on the Lindstrom goal and is playing with confidence.

Blocked again. How sre the lines & pairings working out? They seem balanced in this game. Lots of chances from all lines especially the Suzuki line. Anderson just can't seem to score.

The Habs are playing well tonight. We shall see if they can get one by Markstrom in the third.

Given he’s had several improved games recently, can we say his development has moved up another rung? There’s more to come IMO, lots more in fact, but one step has been taken.

Man, clutch challenge and reversal, the road back is already steep enough against Markstrom. The boys need a greasy pin ball style goal.

Oddly strange yet enjoyable to watch Xhekaj play without any thought of him dropping the gloves or policing anyone

Markstrom was good, but the boys just could not buy that second goal tonight. Points that got away…

That skate to Guhle’s face was scary…and he is back on the bench! Good news. The building was pretty quiet after they ran the replay on the Jumbotron ... not sure what to say about the game ... Calgary seemed to have a more controlled game ... not as many bouncing pucks, or lost edges, which seemed to plague the Habs, at times, tonight ... I don't think I've ever seen a more frustrated crowd in Montreal, as I did tonight ... you should have heard the place when Cole Caufield blew a tire that led to the Flames 2-on-0 ... the Habs ran into a hot goaltender, too ... it happens, as Josh Anderson can attest to ... all this is to say, while the Habs had their chances, I thought Calgary was the better team, tonight ... Cheers.

What a useless powerplay... tired of this Saperlipopette costing them games What i didn't understand was at the end of the game Marty wanting to pull the goalie when it was 4 on 4 so we would have a 5 on 4 PP with an empty net. Yet if we wait 40 seconds until our penalty ends we have one minute and 12 seconds on a 6 on 4 PP. I don't know what the stats say on that but i ain't risking a empty netter to end the game on a 5 on 4 when I can wait for Gally to get out of the box and we got over a minute of 6 on 4. The face off was in the neutral zone so Marty had Monty waiting to see if we won and got possession. I was rooting to lose the face-off so Marty didn't look like a fool. Fortunately we lost the face-off and Monty stayed in until we got the 6 on 4. And although we didn't score on the 6 on 4, we had good pressure and some good chances. Curious to see if anyone else agrees that pulling the goalie 4 on 4 is foolish when you're going to get a 6 on 4 for over a minute if you play out the 4 on 4?

Boys played alright tonight;good enough to win. Altho it's not as if Flames are a good team. We are what we are - still in the early stages of a rebuild.
Good news is Guhle is the real deal: see Petroangelo. And Slaf keeps getting better - nice move to create our only goal.

Strange game to watch, fun at times when the game has a good flow, frustrating the other times when mistakes lead to goals. But, that's the issue with a very young team. You notice that the "vet" line hardly makes any mistakes, perhaps it's time to put one of those vets with a young guy...just to show them the proper way to play the game.
One thing I can say so far this year....goaltending hasn't been an issue.
Edit: I think it's time to look at moving Anderson....I think he needs a new start somewhere.

I hate the offside review even though it benefited us. If the goal comes immediately off the rush and it was an obvious bad call then I get it but if it’s close enough to being onside then I can live with it. Hockey is a flow game and while the offside rule is clear, you also have to let the refs be human especially if it’s a close call.
