And was it not Craig Rivet who went to San Jose in the deal that brought Gorges (and ultimately Pacioretty) to Montreal? And interestingly both Gorges and Rivet played significant seasons with the Sabres, though I do not recall them being teammates in Buffalo.
As an aside, I have a buddy from my university days who is a huge Sabres fan and he was telling me a couple weeks ago that Rivet and some other dude have a podcast where they were just ripping Buffalo for their soft listless play and the whole organizational malaise there.
However, I noticed that Buffalo beat the Bruins last night and no doubt they feel some urgency because they are barely keeping within striking distance of the wildcard pack after twelve straight years of missing the playoffs. So I imagine Montreal will see an opponent tomorrow with plenty of jump. Can a depleted Montreal group respond?

It was, indeed ... the trade tree to the Craig Rivet / Josh Gorges trade is usually featured in one of the SJ / MTL GDTs ... here it is below ... I'll find another theme for the SJ / MTL GDT ... So the ref by the goal line who was looking directly at the play didn’t call the penalty, but the ref at the ref line, who had to look through the net made the call. I really hate the two referee system

That Barron play is one reason I’m not sold on him. Sometimes, he has a half step on a guy but turns back into him instead of motoring away.

He must have it in his head to ‘get Caufield going’. That’s dumb. Make the best play and things will work out. |

I know the penalties are one thing to contend with. But man, the boys could be down 2 or 3-0 against a more ruthless clinical opponent. Primeau is shining, though one has to wonder how long he can stand on his head in front of a group that seems to consistently play bad hockey in front of him.
