Yeah, this four game road stretch after Christmas always previewed to be brutal. 0-4 would not surprise me because a slow starting team with leaky team defense is going to be in tough against good clubs in their barns.

That trade ended up as follows
Florida got Chiarot
Montreal got
Smilanic
4th rounder was Cedric Guindon
1st rounder we traded to Colorado for Alex Newhook
With the first rounder Colorado selected Mikhail Gulyayev
We also gave them the 37th pick (Ethan Gauthier was selected)
and Gianni Fairbrother

Anderson fans on a good set up: Armia lets a backchecker knock the puck off his stick from behind on a clear breakaway: Barron takes a good turn behind his net to avoid a forecheck and later takes too long to move the pick resulting in a turnover and Florida chance: armia gets the puck in the left corner in his end and gives it right to a Panther. It’s amazing how we stay in some games when we give the other team do many chances.
Armia should not be on the left wing. He can’t handle the puck on his backhand.

Bit of a snoozer of a period. Most of Habs shot attempts coming from the perimeter with many sailing over the net or wide.

Florida scores as thd PP ends. Called back for offside. They have to wind the clock back 39 seconds to the time of the offside entry.

The most exciting play in hockey: the post-goal offside review. I hate it just as much when benefits the Habs as the other team. If it’s so close that 2 linesmen don’t catch it in real-time it shouldn’t be reviewable IMO.

They are either extremely efficient or extremely lucky. Maybe both. Part of the problem is that guys like Armia and Anderson, turnover specialists, are in the lineup. Transition would be better without those guys. We still need to play at a faster pace to improve the space and time we need to make plays. Are players where they should be? Is Burrows in charge of exits and entries?
One thing Im pleased to see is that Skafkovsky isn’t shying away from contact. That was a hell of a move (but very risky) cutting through the slot through 2 Panthers with seconds to go in the second. (In his own end).

Rather enjoyed seeing Michael Pezzetta getting involved early in the game ... he won his fight, convincingly, IMHO ... nice goal by Cole Caufield ... more, please ... wonder what Martin St. Louis has to say to the troops after that lacklustre 2nd period ...
