Does anyone know why Markov chose #79? He was born in '78 so it's not his birth year.

The first player to do so was Vladimir Vujtek Thanks for the memories, Skilly. Another blast from the past. I had hopes for him, but he was traded to Edmonton as a throw-in in the Damphousse deal, which was rather important for us. Played only 110 NHL games, so I think I was mistaken. Great name though. Rolls off the tongue like a frost heaved highway.

The Sabres and the sens are struggling and I don't know why... MSL, bench Slaf so we can lose this game... I love this new attitude around Slafkovsky. It's interesting seeing the changing dynamics. We always believed Suzuki was the play driver (and he often is), but lately, Suze has been the finisher and it's Slaf starting the plays that end up with the puck in the net. I enjoyed hearing Jordan Harris saying that Slaf deserved an assist on his goal, even though he didn't get one. Slaf's competitive attitude is showing through. He accepts the plaudits for his improved play, but follows that up with a statement about needing to improve a lot more. That drive to get better is part of every star and hopefully with Slaf it's not just talk. BTW, any changed opinions about Harris since his return and him being one of the first LHD's to be traded? When a guy is not front and centre, it's easy to forget about him and underrate his value (I find myself doing that). Lately, it's been Harris and Xhekaj who seem to be included in trade proposals, and both were out of our sight. Marinaro's podcast today is has Kovacevic highlighted as needing to be concerned. This is the first I've seen of any criticism of Kovacevic (other than my own). I don't dislike him but I think we will have others who can and will be better. Harris is doing that right now on the right side. Kovacevic has had one of those stretches where the puck is going in at one end and this may be one of those points where his value is as high as it's going to be. I'd certainly be looking to move him, even if we have some short term growing pains with a replacement.

I guess Allen is in net. Hopefully he gets dialed in early because first game back home after a long trip raises the question about whether the skaters in front of him will be ready.
Harris has been sharp since he got back from injury. It will be an interesting summer because, while they can juggle the surplus now, logically one if not two guys need to be traded before camp.

I hope he has a great game, Caufield and Slaf score, and we find a way to squeak out a one goal loss.

A little laissez-faire to start this PP

Good pressure at the end on the PP, ... lots of nice passes but no quality shots. Monahan had Slafkovsky open for a one time empty net, but it was the one pass that wasn't on the tape

Armia has to be told by where to go by one of the D while the Sarbres are all overvus in our end... HuGo just waive this clown

Meh, that was a brush by, it was so minimal that a goalie was not really compromised in terms of resetting and staying square to the shooter. Whatever, wild inconsistencies reign in interpreting the 'rule' in the NHL.

1-0 Sabres on the PP
Sabres know how to pass and one time shots. Habs, not so much

Ref got so impressed that Peterka hit fourth gear and blew by Savard that he did not bother to connect his eyes to his brain and conclude that a Mite age touch on the Sabres stick does not constitute slashing in the NHL. But, again, which infraction in the rule book do these guys manage to even come close to applying with consistency?
Anyhow, as per usual, what a joke the Habs PK has been and remains.

Another quick passing , quick shot goal on the PP 2-0 Sabres Habs PK is god-awful Savard and matheson That's actually not the reason it sucks It sucks because they collapse the box and don't pressure the puck. The other team just keeps passing quickly waiting for a Hab to not adjust, then it's a seem pass and in the back of the net.
