For sure, that 2ndPP unit is devoid of skill.
What an asinine play by Gallagher...would not be surprised if this costs the Habs the two points. The silver lining is that at least Gallagher may not be in the lineup against Pittsburgh on Saturday or Washington after the break.

Not watching, but I have seen plays where Xhekaj has been called for a penalty, because. He hasn’t done anything egregious but gets whistled because the ref has dry lips. Has he deserved the 2 penalties he got today? Yes |

By the letter of the rulebook, Xhekaj interfered with Barzal, but anyone who watches a lot of NHL hockey would admit that type of play gets ignored a lot by the refs when a d-man is marking the slot and no real scoring chance was negated. I must have been checking my daughter's homework because I missed the first penalty he got called for. He’s got 4 PIM. But the first one you described is exactly the kind of thing he’s being called for all year. He’s bigger and far stronger than most opponents, so any touch of his is greatly exaggerated. Either that or the referees guild has him in their black book. The one folatre mentioned was a penalty. The Isle dumped it into the Habs zone, Xhekaj put his hands to the face of the aisle trying to go around him. |

This is a 1 line team... the rest are fluff We know that. Dach and Newhook are our 2nd line (with Roy perhaps). Anderson, Gallagher, Pearson are all superfluous to our future needs. The bottom 6 are forgettable. |

This team SUCKS playing with the lead. They need to work on that, because standing around looking at a shooting gallery is not a defensive strategy. Absolutely no pressure
The team deserved this win. Gallagher and Evans did not.

Good God did Bergevin hand out some absurd contracts to guys who would have been for any intelligent GM clearly red-flagged for being in physical-decline/injury prone. Bergevin is literally the 'gift' who keeps giving.

Stupid dangerous play by Gallagher. I've always defended him for being an agitator who does things the right way and pointing out he's never been suspended. Don't know what happened here but he deserves what he gets

But they continue to get ice time I've been losing respect for Gally game by game as it becomes more clear he can nolonger compete in the NHL. I thought that was due to his physical decline. It is now clear that his head is no longer in the game, perhaps as a result of his physical decline. But that was as dirty as you get and wildly stupid: a 2 goal lead with less than 10 to go and you take a cheap shot like that for no reason is beyond dumb. I don't care that we pulled out the win. There has to be a sanction. from the club regardless what the league does. The easy solution is to send Gally to Laval and let him decide whether he wants to proceed with the humilaition of playeing in the AHL the rest of his career or retire. Retire would be a win win. Just questioning the philosophy of having vets around to teach the kids if the kids are suppose to learn this dumb crap from Gally. |
