I see that again there is no national broadcast of a Saturday Habs game, just tsn2.(blacked out outside Montreal area)
I find that very annoying as here in Vancouver they have moved up the start time of the Canucks/Bruins so eastern fans of the Bruins can watch?

Saturday night is the only time I get a broadcast of a Habs game in southern Ontario. It's usually on City TV. Now with this strange start time, I'm out of luck.

Which network does Rogers (aka el cheapo Edward Rogers) own 37.5% of, Sportsnet? If so, that is precisely the reason. The franchises held by Rogers are now screwed. Raptors are done. Masai will be leaving at some point and the rest of the organization will be run by bean counters. Ownership is everything.

Not to say that Montreal is a juggernaut on every Saturday 7 pm puck drop, but man it sure seems like the boys generally stink in these weird afternoon games.
Lindy Ruff looks and sounds super-stressed. Jack Hughes has been sounding off a lot of late with some passive-aggressive messages directed at management and teammates.
Of course, Marty St. Louis is surely not thrilled at present either. The boys lost to two not good (Buffalo and Pittsburgh) teams. And with such a depleted roster and the devastatingly hard schedule looming through the end of the season, it may be hard to rescue many positives in the upcoming days and weeks.

Seems all these rebuilding teams seem to underestimate the time required to become a contender. Hopefully it's just these teams are all an anomaly, and our rebuild will be much more progressive, both with respect to timing and success.

All 3 of those teams have had poor goaltending, especially NJ and that can be deflating. Through the past 2 seasons the Habs goaltenders have been pretty decent. Monty in particular has been steady behind a large number of very young D and veterans playing more than desirable. NJ has a decent trade asset in Holtz to get a goalie but given their play I'd question trading any valuable assets when they're at risk to miss the playoffs and Hughes doesn't seem to currently provide the leadership necessary for a big playoff run.

Too easy: Allen for Hughes, and we'll throw in Gally, Josh and Armia

It makes no sense for Rogers, so maybe that's an NHL thing, to encurage fans to buy tickets. That's always been the dumbest premise for blacking out games. Produce an entertaining product and fans will show up.

Bingo. Look at Vegas. Now, they're missing Eichel and Stone, but Aidin Hill and Logan Thompson have been (expletive deleted) the bed lately and Vegas is losing consistently (which pleases me greatly). Aren't they supposed to be a solid, deep team with excellent coaching? Habs drafted a whack of goalies the past 3 seasons. We all know goaltending is a dart throw type of scouting issue, so the solution is to pick a large number and hope one of them hits. It makes a lot of sense, and Montreal is doing it ahead of their scheduled contending time frame. There's a lot of smarts in the HuGo office.

I really wonder. dumb policy for sure. they must think "hockey? they'll watch whatever" but in fact many people watch nothing if their team isn't playing.

Snoozer of a first period with neither side generating much. Anderson with the best scoring chance, with the finishing skills of a beer leaguer.

Brief interlude from the NY Philly game. Nic Deslauriers gets the better of Kempe in a fight they both decided to get over with. I think Nic wanted to send a message to Kempe and Laviolette.

There are 25 games remaining (including the rest of this game)
Suzuki has 21 goals Caufield has 19 goals Slafkovsky has 12 goals
How many 40, 30 and 20 goal scorers will we end the season with?

Gallagher doesn't bother to cover Palat who pots a rebound. 2-2.

Skilly, you know there will be no 40 goal scorers. There will be 2 guys at twenty. Just not enough time for anyone to hit 30.

Props to Deslauriers for taking on a guy that’s 6’8 and 240lb. That’s 7 inches and 22lb size advantage for Rempe.

It was a clear head shot but hey, George Parros is an idiot. Rempe is the kind of goof that the league needs less off.

Kovacevic not only gets his shot blocked, he then ices the puck.
I bet that’s so rare we can call it the kovacevic special
