Evans gets flak at times (I admit to being critical) when he has to spend extended stretches of the season as a middle six center because he is not really a player package capable of delivering regularly at that pay grade. But he is a good enough fourth liner and tries hard on the penalty kill. And the real interesting part of his story is how an unheralded Toronto kid got drafted in round 7, went to the States to play NCAA hockey, progressed year by year at Notre Dame, improved his skating in Laval, and carved out a decent career with the Habs.
The boys could be in tough tomorrow. Florida is playing this regular season like the playoff version which drove all the way to the SCF last season.

I expect a thumping... pezetta and arber better be in If we lose, ok. I would love to see Pezzetta and Arber kick the crap out of Bennett and Cousins. Especially Cousins. I think the Panthers need a good deflation on the chippy side.

Folatre, I have also appreciated the Evans story. To me he was a guy that paid his dues. Three years in the OJHL, the full 4 years at Notre Dame and 2 season in Laval. He worked hard & made it happen.
Maybe we are expecting the 2021/22 Evans that had 13 goals but that season looks more and more like an outlier. The other thing I wonder about is the Scheifle hit. It's been a few years but when I see those vicious head shots I wonder about the player, now and in the future.
Rather than complain about him I will try to appreciate him for who he is.

For sure, the Scheifle hit was truly scary. And there have been a few other times where Evans has gotten rocked pretty good. I am not sure what it is, does Evans sometimes lack a bit of situational awareness, putting himself in peril? I also look at Evans and see a guy who seems 'smaller' than the 1.85 m and 86 kg listed in the game program. I don't know, some guys are heavy on their skates whereas some guys who are the same size are light.

Panthers skill guys faced way too little Montreal resistance flying through the neutral zone.

Given how chippy the Panthers are, I think St. Louis is not thinking smart by keeping Pezzetta in the press box and a guy like Pearson who will not even be in the organization in seven weeks is in there. Unless it is simply that management decides such matters.

Matheson with a nice SH rush. They are being stymied by Stolarz so far,

Evans with a really bad penalty - tripping someone in the neutral zone with a second or two left.

Reinhart had been stuck at 39 for a while until now.
Referees were determined to give Florida PPs until they scored.

Jeje, diver, thespian, embellisher, and Matthew Tkachuk all appear on the same page of the dictionary. Sadly, the refs seem to go out of the way to even up calls when he starts shet (with Matheson) and reward him with power play when he falls down.

Not to belabor the point, but what is Hughes/St. Louis thinking having a fourth line ghost like Pearson in the game and a edgy dude like Pezzetta scratched against these shetbags...

Slafkovsky with a buzzer beater off the faceoff. Badly outplayed but tied going to the 3rd.
He puts it in with .7 seconds left.

MSL makes iffy lineup decisions sometimes. With D bags like Tkachuk and Cousins out there they need some grit out there
