Anaheim and Montreal make a trade. Just not the player you were thinking of. For what it is worth Jacob Perreault is the son of ex Hab Yanic Perreault and was drafter in the first round of the 2020 draft, 1 round higher than Mysak.
Unfortunately he hasn't really been lighting it up in the AHL either.

"Perrault is a pure sniper with one of the best shots in this draft class. It's accurate, hard, and he can score from anywhere. His ability to catch and shoot pucks in stride when the passes aren't in the wheelhouse is a transferable skill that will serve him well. -EliteProspects 2020 NHL Draft Guide"
I guess he's Yanic Perreault's kid.

Hopefully Marty can work some magic
Looks like he's had injury problems...

If Perreault can improve his skating, there is likely still some higher upside there. Calling Adam Nicholas and team. Unfortunately, Houle never really took to Myšak for some reason. Oh well, hope he enjoys his new opportunity as he is a nice kid who works hard.
AHL deal, but it also adds a bit more of a “local” flavour due to his dad.

Maddening that they never seemed to put him in a position to succeed. 4th line, little minutes, try to be a scorer.
Oh well

Can you get the other Perreault too please Kent? That was my first thought on seeing the headline, but I rightly suspected we had a better chance of getting Gilbert Perreault than Gabe Perreault.

Oh well The other matter is that Owen Beck is coming, we're likely to pick a (cough) Celebrini, Lindstrom or Catton this year, and Rohrer, Ericksson, Davidson even, and Kapanen are as much a possibility for the 4c centre spot as Mysak. If Nicolas and crew can unlock something in Perreault, is he even a centre?

Both guys look like long shots to carve out an NHL career. I would have probably just kept Mysak, since he is a center. Admittedly, though, I have not watched many of Mysak's games and none of Perreault's, so maybe the Habs' pro scouts have some decent intel.

I'm too lazy to look it up though It would depend on what you call "results". But under my definition, we have way better results in rounds one and round two over the past decade than what we've had in rounds 5-7. The only notable players in rounds 5-7 that we've drafted over the past decade are Cayden Primeau, Jake Evans, and Joshua Roy. I'd then argue the only impact player of that group would be Joshua Roy, but the sample size on him is very small. ** my definition of impact player is a goal per game pace of 0.3, or points per game pace of 0.7, over 200 games ** ** for defensemen I use 0.4 points per game **

This is why I prefer that we package picks to move up in the draft. Last year, I personally would of moved up from 5 if there was a way of including 2 and 3rd rounder's for the player I wanted. I would do the same this year too.

What were the odds of second rounders? 17%?
The big deal is to be half right at picking then be utterly and completely right on development.
2nd rounders usually have a big skill deficiency or NHL charecter issues.
Example is Ylonen. Has the tools but doesn't want to ruin the nail polish.
Or you have any number of prospects who are not elite enough but have the skill level to play for Euro teams.
If they had the talent AND the character they would be 1st rounders. Rarely does a second rounder have elite skills that show up after they get drafted. More often is that they don't work hard enough on their deficiencies.

Listening to Grant McCagg on Marinaros podcast. Perreault was listed as a top 20 talent by McCagg in his draft year but apparently he hasn't figured out how hard you have to work at this level to be successful, tries to get by on talent alone.
He referred to him being known for "charactor issues" as to how hard he works, particularly away from the puck.
In his last 12 games in the AHL he has 0 goals and 2 assists and is a minus 9.
Swell... but hey at least he's francophone? Sounds like Droopy Lite to me

He hits every branch of a somewhat talented and good enough to be drafted...but far from elite enough to make it on talent alone. I'm not sure why they thought a 21 year old that is occupying bust territory is even worth trading for unless they know that Mysak is Euro bound and gone forever.

Unfortunately, there are some players (Droopy) who even Marty can't motivate. Perhaps due to Perreault's age and eagerness to land the big contract, he may be more open and and motivated than Droopy who was quite content to be the highest paid forward and mail it in game after game, season after season.

I sold a large air tank that weighed about 1500 pounds and about 9ft tall. This 20+ year old shows up with a cargo van to pick up it up instead of a flatbed truck. OK...now we have a problem...for about 10 seconds. I put a loading strap on a hard point on the tank and picked it up. It's in the air tilted at 45 degrees and by hand gestures i instruct the kid what to do when I bring it to the van door. This kid from India who barely speaks 5 words of English picks up on what I want him to do and executes it flawlessly. When the tank gets close to the door, he grabs the dirty, oily feet, gives it all he got to lift it in the end and i slide it the rest of the way with the fork-lift. We're done in 2 minutes. It was brief but what a pleasure to work with him! Moral of the story...while there are bad coaches out there, don't assume it's their fault when these "mommy-told-me-I'm-a-star" don't want to follow instructions or put in the effort and/or *gulp* the dirty work.. From the several games I saw of Ylonen, he only gives an effort when it came to scoring and the dirty work of retrieving the puck or using his not so small body to check someone off the puck was way too much to ask for. Manicure smashing is a crime. From what I read of Mysak, same thing. Is it really coaching?
