Josh Anderson scores the only way he knows how .... skating into the goalie Thought Tortorella would challenge that. What's he got to lose.

The Flyers looked like they've packed it in for the season. The last time they were in Montreal they were 3rd in their division.

5 goals from Gallagher, Dvorak and Anderson. Thats a sign, Tortorella.
Even Kovacevic has 2 points.

Newhook, Evans, Pezetta, Barron, Struble and Montembeault

Well if you're going to get 2 points to hurt your draft pick you might as well light it up big time. And do it against Flyers - top 5 teams I hate!
Great to see Slafs with the hatty - the guy just exudes bright future.
They were talking Torts for the Jack Adams a few weeks ago. Now he'll be lucky to have a job next year.

I was telling my brother that Slafβs hat trick is greatly diminished by the fact that other goal scorers in the game were Armia, Gallagher, Dvorak and (horrors!) Anderson. Critics will say the goaltending had to be ECHL calibre.

I would have liked more points from Caufield for my hockey pool, but MSL really dialed back the top lineβs ice time after things got out of hand.

Well that was a fun game to watch first hand. My sister has been to two games, and both were Montreal wins (last year Subban night and tonight) I had to tell her that Montreal doesn't usually score this much, but she had fun.
Slafs got a great post-game ovation.
Gallagher was very unselfish with his pass to Armia. He could of tried for the hat trick. You need to have vets like him in the locker room. It's just sad and not his fault that he is over paid by 3 million.
Armia has a new career high with 17 goals.
You can see the progress with this team

The Dvorak trade is actually still not complete. Montreal sent the #27 pick AND their 2024 second round pick to Arizona Arizona then traded MTL's 2024 second rounder to the Kings for Sean Durzi The Kings then traded MTL's 2024 second rounder to the Jets in the Pierre Luc Dubois trade That pick has made the rounds. Also, am I correct in assuming that not having that 2nd round pick limits Montreal's ability to extend an offer sheet this summer for certain contract values? Incorrect. The draft takes place in June. Once that is over we can go after any RFA.

That was fun to watch, but half-way in the 2nd it was just 1-0 and the Flyers had the lead in shots. I could imagine all of this going very differently.
Harris getting 3 points makes me wonder if I'm too quick to see him as the guy to trade on the blueline.
Barron didn't show much of the defensive grit he needs to add... but his talent on offense would be a huge add to this team.
Slaf is wowing all of us. If only we could add Celebrini in June, we'd be set for a decade and I'd give us decent odds for a Cup within a decade.
RDS was wondering if Newhook might be #3C next season... I always saw him as a winger being played center, but he our center line is Suzuki-Dach-Newhook-Evans, I can live with that, and those guys could be stable for a while, until Beck or Celebrini steals one of their spots (yes, I need to dream a bit).
Every time we play Philly, I think Anderson would be a great fit with them - he has the size and playing style they like, and wouldn't be as burdened trying to play a complex offensive game as MSL seems to like.

I'm hoping Newhook will be a top 6 winger, and I'm betting Skilly will agree with me. And I'm already liking our Cup chances in ten years without Celbrini. All we need is a tough top 6 forward to go with Dach and Alex. We can fill the bottom 6 easily and our D is in good shape with X, Guhle, Mailloux, Hutson, and Reinbach.

I love beating the Flyers. After the Nordiques and Bruins, the Flyers were my next most hated team back in the 80s. They beat us in the conference finals in '87 after our Cup in '86 and we beat them in the conference finals in '89 in the famous series when Ron Hextall chased down Chris Chelios at the end of Game 6. Good times.
And I get Mike Matheson has some holes in his game, but the guy's on pace to top 60 points. Last guy to do that was Subban (60) in 2014-15. Markov's peak production was 64 points in 2008-09.
I get the coming logjam on the blueline and Matheson is a guy you could "sell high" but a 60-point dman is becoming de rigueur in the NHL. I'd hate to give that up without replacing it.

One of my pet peeves is why the networks don't show the hats on the ice after a hatrick. I get it that they ought not to show streakers, protesters or other bad actors who disrupt a sporting event to not encourage that conduct - all of which will get you ejected from the stadium. But throwing a hat after a hatrick is part of a long honoured and respectable hockey celebration. Show the hats raining, them littered on the ice and the player soaking it up. Damn it!!! Anyone able to find the celebration after the hatty on line?
